Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes Mascara that I received from Influenster (here). I was lucky to be chosen to receive this Influenster box with luxe Charlotte Tilbury makeup that I most likely would not have purchased on my own.

I was surprised when I opened up the box to find Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray in addition to the mascara. When I took the usage survey from Influenster, I checked the box “I don’t use it” when it asked about setting spray usage. A couple of years ago, I tried the travel size  Farmacy Skin Dew that is billed as a “hydrating essence mist and setting spray” after I received it in a Sephora Play bag. I tried it primarily because it was a hydrating essence rather than a straight setting spray.

One of the reasons I don’t use setting spray is because I hate spraying myself in the face. I detest it. I have finally gotten to the point where I can use some spray toners if the spray is an ultra-fine mist and if they have a wonderful scent, but still I don’t love it. The other reason I don’t use a setting spray is that my skin isn’t oily, and my makeup doesn’t run or melt or dissolve.

But Influenster kindly chose me to participate, so who am I to complain? I tried Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray.

It took me weeks to give it a good try because I so seldom wear foundation these days. So I tried it when we out to dinner outdoors a few weeks ago, and today, when I went out to lunch outdoors on this gorgeous warm autumn day.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray comes in a clear, heavy plastic spray bottle with CT’s rose gold signature top. It has a very light, fresh scent that doesn’t linger.

To me, the spray feels wet initially. I have a tough time with that because of my spray-myself-in-the-face phobia. But if I spray the bottle into the air, the spray looks like a mist. And it dries on my skin on contact.

Like the hydrating essence and setting spray I tried previously, CT Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray is positioned the same way. I can always use some extra hydration.

In terms of “setting”, to be honest, I don’t know how to tell. Since my foundation stays put anyway, I couldn’t tell the difference. However, one thing I was curious about: would using this setting spray prevent my foundation from coming off onto my mask? Sadly, the answer was no.

Since it’s called “Airbrush Flawless” Setting Spray, I wondered if my skin would look any different. Again, no, not that I could tell. I don’t have large pores, and I use my foundation to try to even out the look of my skin. I could not see any difference or improvement after a couple of sprays. It is what it is. (For the first time, I am wearing Wander Nude Illusion Liquid Foundation with medium coverage. From the photo, I see that I should have built up the coverage. Next time!)

So I don’t really know how to assess this setting spray since I have such limited experience with setting spray. I can say that using it a few times has not convinced me that I need to use setting spray every time I wear makeup. I also can’t really compare it to another brand because I only used Farmacy Skin Dew a couple of times quite a while ago.

But if you are a setting spray user, you may want to check out Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray at Sephora or on the Charlotte Tilbury website. It’s priced at $35 for 100 ml, and it looks like it would last a long time. I just checked it out on Sephora.com, and in addition to the full size bottle, they sell a mini size for $20.

  1. I absolutely LOVE her products! Such a great cruelty-free brand!

  2. I have several sprays that I occasionally use but like you, I don’t know if they make a difference. I still can have hot flashes though nothing like I used to get. When that happens nothing will save my foundation. I’d have loved to have been chosen for this but I don’t think I’d spend the money on it.

  3. I have only 2 setting sprays, but I always seem to forget to use them. 🙂 I do want to try Charlotte Tilbury products though!

  4. I have combination skin and unless I use setting spray or a powder, my makeup just melts off. I think these products are meant for people who have problems keeping their makeup from melting off, or for someone who lives in a very humid climate. Definitely a situational product!
