Cheek Beauties from Eddie Funkhouser and Giveaway!

A couple of years ago, I won a giveaway that gave me the chance to try two beautiful Eddie Funkhouser lipsticks (reviewed here). I was smitten.

Eddie Funkhouser is professional makeup artist and the powerhouse behind Eddie Funkhouser Cosmetics. He’s also a terrific person. 😛 Another thing that I love about him is that he includes a fanciful autograph with every package I have ever received from him. What a great signature!

Today, I’d like to show you Eddie’s gorgeous blush singles, Ultra Intensity Cheek Singles, as well as a new highlight and contour compact, Ultra Definition Cheek Bronzer & Sculpt Powder. Cheek makeup always gives me an instant pick-me-up, and these are beauties.

Let’s start with the blush.

Ultra Intensity Cheek Singles

The 4 shades in the collection are:

  • Peep Show: hot pink
  • Sidestreet Blossom: pinky peach
  • A Little Toasted: browned peach
  • Plum Crazy: pink plum

I love all four of the shades. They’re nicely pigmented. Peep Show is a perfect summer shade. Sidestreet Blossom is a classic pinky peach, fairly close to NARS Orgasm but without the gold glitter that some people dislike. Both Plum Crazy and A Little Toasted are great transitional season shades, and I’ll love them in the fall.

I was very pleasantly surprised to discover how buttery the Ultra Intensity Cheek Singles feel. The micromilled powder blends easily and grabs onto the skin even without primer. I haven’t had any powdery fallout. They last well on my skin. Another thing I love about Eddie is that he gives you a makeup artist tip along with each of his products on the website. For instance, he recommends applying powder to your cheeks before you apply blush so that the color won’t cling to one spot but will be evenly distributed. Give that a try!!

Eddie Funkhouser Ultra Intensity Cheek Singles contain 3g/0.1 oz. and are priced at $8.99 each. Made in Italy.

INGREDIENTS: TALC, ALUMINUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, MICA, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRAISOSTEARATE, PHENYL TRIMETHICONE, OCTYLDODECYL STEAROYL STEARATE, SORBIC ACID, ZEA MAYS (CORN) STARCH, SODIUM DEHYDROACETATE, SILICA. MAY CONTAIN: IRON OXIDES (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), RED 7 LAKE (CI 15850), ULTRAMARINES (CI 77007).

Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder

The package of cheek makeup that I received from Eddie last week must have had a tough voyage on its way to me because the Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder didn’t fare too well in transit. It had turned to powder that was everywhere in the box! Thankfully, he sent me another!

Eddie Funkhouser Ultra Density Bronzer & Sculpting Powder compact, neversaydiebeauty.com

The Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder is soooooo pretty in its compact. It reminds me of Neapolitan ice cream shades. Yummy. I also love the embossing.

Eddie Funkhouser Ultra Density Bronzer & Sculpting Powder, open compact to show the 5 shades, neversaydiebeauty.com

To be honest, I seldom wear bronzer and I don’t highlight and contour very often. One of the key reasons that I don’t is that the shades are always too deep, too orangey or just too much for my mature skin. At this stage of the game, I need highlight and contour products that are subtle, that whisper rather than scream. Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder fits the bill for me perfectly. But if you are looking for bronzer, highlighter and contouring powder that stand out, this compact will not be for you.

The overall shade of the compact is called Pyramid Bronze. The five shades include two highlighters and three sculpting powders that you can easily use individually or you can take your blush brush and swipe across the entire pan. Here are the swatches over face primer with my own descriptions of the shades.

  1. champagne
  2. cafe au lait
  3. chocolate
  4. milk chocolate
  5. pale pinky peach
  6. mixture of all the shades

As you can see, some of the shades are very close to my own skin tone.

Like the blush singles, the Bronze & Sculpt Powder feels buttery, isn’t powdery, and is easy to blend. This is one contour and highlighter compact that I feel comfortable using.

Eddie Funkhouser Bronzer & Sculpt Powder compact contains 10g and is priced at $12.99.

INGREDIENTS: TALC, MICA, DIMETHICONE, MAGNESIUM STEARATE, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLICERIDE, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, ALUMINA, T R I E T H O X Y C A P R Y L Y S I L A N E , PHENOXYETHANOL. MAY CONTAIN: IRON OXIDES (CI 77491, CI77492, CI77499), TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI77891), ULTRAMARINES (CI77007).

  1. Blushes are probably my favorite makeup product, I love how they make my face look alive and “healthy” lol, I’d be lost without it.

All four of these look really nicely pigmented and Plum Crazy and Peep Show are stunners.

    1. I agree, Heather! Plum Crazy is perfect for fall but great for anytime really. Thanks for being first to enter, and good luck 🙂

  2. Raine says:

How exciting, I’ve never tried Eddie Funkhouser products but have always wanted to. I’ve also been using the same blush for way too long as I got caught up in contour, bronzers and highlighters. They are gorgeous shades.

    1. It’s fun to try new brands, Raine. You’re right, these shades are terrific, and it’s fun to have a whole collection of them. Thanks for entering and good luck!

    2. Sandy P says:

I have a granddaughter named Raine. Very unusual name that I love!

      1. It is a beautiful and rather unusual name, Sandy. I’m so glad you noticed it among the commenters 🙂

  3. Mary W says:

Eddie Funkhouser Cosmetics is a brand I have not tried yet. I like the Browned Peach – a shade you don’t usually see. Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  4. DiEtta says:

Waving Hi 🙋🏻 I really like the cheek color Plum Crazy. It’s close to the color Thistle that I use. All the colors are so nice. A girl can never have to much make-up!!! 💅🏻💄Enjoy your weekend. 🌹🦋

    1. I looooove Plum Crazy. Perfect for fall! Hope you entered, madam! Have a good weekend too <3

  5. Lynne B says:

I’m loving the Sidestreet Blossom and Toasted shades! This is my first introduction to Eddie Funkhouser.

    1. I’ve been using Eddie Funkhouser eyeliner and an eyeshadow quad soon to be reviewed, but sneak peek, they’re fab too, Lynne! Side street Blossom and Toasted are beautiful especially in person. So glad you entered. Good luck!

      1. Lynne B says:

Oooh, eyeliner! Do they have lots of colors?

    2. alas, no, Lynne. Just classic black. I wish there were more shades too. But the eyeliner pencil is so creamy and easy to use. The fine tip liquid liner also only in black is also so easy to apply.

  6. Ashley Perez says:

This is so awesome! I would love this.

    1. They’re terrific shades and so buttery! I think you would love them. Thanks for entering and good luck!

  7. Sandy P says:

Just gave my Nars Orgasm powder blush to my sister as it just wasn’t doing anything for me. So I am using an IT powder blush but really would like to try a drug store brand. Rite Aid is only about a mile from me so will check these blushes/products out! But of course winning this prize would be awesome.

    1. I recently bought and reviewed the liquid version of NARS Orgasm, and I find it so much nicer than the powder. It is much less glittery than the powder. I’ve never tried IT’s powder blushes, but I like the cream one that I own. These powders are very pretty, and the four shades together are great to own because they run the gamut of spring/summer to fall/winter and have shades that suits different skin tones. I don’t think that Eddie’s makeup is at every Rite Aid unfortunately. There’s a locator on his website, and I discovered that supposedly a Rite Aid about 20 miles from me may carry the brand whereas the stores near me don’t, alas. At any rate, I’m glad you entered the giveaway, Sandy. Good luck xoxo

  8. Diana D. says:

Love their blush!! I own Plum Crazy and it’s gorgeous!! Would love to own all of them!

    1. That’s wonderful, Diana, that you already own Plum Crazy and know how nice these pretty blushes are! I plan to be wearing that one a lot in the fall. It would be fun to add the others to your stash. So glad you entered. Good luck!

  9. Susan P. says:

I have not tried this brand before but have heard good things about their products.

  10. Gabrielle says:

The colours are so pretty and I think these would look very good on me.

    1. Good reason to enter, Gabrielle! Thank you for entering and good luck xo

  11. Melissa Storms says:

I love the colors and have heard great things about Eddie Funkhouser beauty products. I think Peep Show would be a little bright for me but I know someone who wears similar blush tones and would love it. I would love all 3 of the others for and think they would be great end of the summer and into fall colors.

    1. You’re right, Melissa, Peep Show is brighter and a fun summer shade for a number of skin tones. The other three are fabulous. I’m glad you entered. Good luck!!

  12. I like these blushes, they are very nice and apply well. I’m glad that Eddie sent you a new bronzer. 😀

    1. Me too. The bronzer is subtle enough for me 🙂

  13. Sadly Eddie Funkhouser is only found in a few Rite Aids on the west coast. We need them everywhere. I’m looking forward to trying these especially the two lighter ones.

    1. Thanks for that info about the Rite Aids. I used the app on Eddie’s website, and it says that his makeup is at a Rite Aid about 20 miles from where I live, but maybe that’s not so?? The blushes are so pretty. The deeper one, Plum Crazy, will be wonderful for fall.

  14. Kim Pincombe-Cole says:

I’m really on a blush kick right now. I used to stick primarily to 1 shade, but I’m really having fun mixing shades right now. It might have to do with my skin tone having a good summer flush & colors just look better on me right now. Regardless, I’d love to win these Eddie Funkhouser blushes & add some new shades to my arsenal!

    1. These would be fun to add to your blush stash, Kim, and they’d be great to mix and match. So glad you entered. Good luck 🙂

  15. Eddie makes such wonderful products. The line is underrated in my opinion and he is a real sweetheart!

Everyone it seems is buzzing about the Eddie Funkhouser Brand so they are definitely on my radar as products to try. I totally adore the Little Toasted color. Not only would I like to win for myself but I met a really nice woman who came into the nursing home while I was there and it just makes her day when I go to visit her. And just tickles her pink when I bring her some new makeup and such, so I would definitely be sharing with her.

    1. Toasted is beautiful, Paula! It really suits me too. And I’m looking forward to using Plum Crazy in the fall. You are always so nice to think of others. I have my fingers crossed for you. Good luck xoxo

  27. Wendy R. says:

I feel like a lot of the contouring and bronzing cosmetics out there are too orangy as well… maybe it’s my pale redhead skin, but I need more pinks and lighter tones. Most I have tried are just too harsh for my coloring.

    1. Wendy, this one from Eddie Funkhouser is totally wearable for me. My skin tone is between fair and light, and so many bronzers are too orange. And too many contours are too dark. And because I’m older, too many highlighters are too sparkly or too shimmery or too bright. The EF Ultra Density compact is so pretty and so much more subtle. Check on the Eddie Funkhouser website to see if a Rite Aid near you carries EF makeup coz it would be good for you to see it in person if you can. PS Did you enter the blush giveaway??

      1. Wendy R. says:

I did enter! Thanks for the recommendation, it sounds like our skin needs are very similar.

        1. Yay! Good luck, Wendy! Since our skin needs may be similar, LMK which skincare products/brands are your faves too.

I need to explore the world of blushes! I have used Milani blush before and now using Canmake blush. I would love to try some EF Ultra Intensity Cheek Singles.

    1. I’m not familiar with the Canmake brand, Anne. I will look it up! I love the Milani rose embossed blushes too. I know that Eddie’s blushes would be a great addition to your collection. Thank you for entering and good luck!

      1. Anne says:

Canmake is a Japanese brand. I love Japanese eye products and decided to try out the blush.

Thanks Allison! I’m crossing my fingers!

        1. Thank you, Anne, for the recommendation. I haven’t heard of Canmake. I’ve mostly used the mainstream Japanese brands, but I need to venture further afield. I’ll be checking this brand out!

  30. Jennifer Pellicone says:

I would Love to try these blushes. I think the colors are great and you mention they blend easily (over powder!).

    1. Thanks for really reading my post, Jennifer! I sometimes cheat and blend them over my foundation without powder, and they’re fine but powder does make it a breeze. Always great to get a tip from a MUA! Thanks for entering the blush giveaway, I know you’d love them. Good luck!

  31. I love Blush and Bronzers. They r jus my fave. These r so nice with a Great price on them. U might even be able to use the Bronzer stripes for eye shadow too. Sometimes that’s FUN to do. Thanks so much for sharing.

    1. Thank you so much, Joyce, for coming back and commenting! You’re right, the bronzer palette could definitely be used for eye shadow. Thanks for sharing that tip! And good luck xoxo
