Christmas Nail Polish Options

I give up on nail art. Other than adding a few dots, I can’t do it. So I will be satisfied with nail polish or nail polish with toppers.

This week I’ve been trying out two shades that came my way recently.

Christmas nail polish choice: Deborah Lippmann Raspberry Beret or Formula X Revved Up? neversaydiebeauty.com @redAllison

The first is Deborah Lippmann Raspberry Beret. I got this mini in my giant goody bag from Barney’s in September. I’m still making my way through all the great stuff I got. This is described as a “flecked berry holographic”. It looks to me like a berry red crelly with rose gold glitter. It’s so beautiful in person. I’m afraid I haven’t covered it well with this photo. Using an acetone remover makes it easier to get this shade off.

My second option just arrived in my December 2015 ipsy bag: Formula X Nail Color in Revved Up, a light rose gold metallic. This is the first time I’ve tried Formula X, and I am so impressed. Many metallics streak or accent the bumps in my nails. Not so Revved Up from Formula X. One coat really would have been enough, but I wanted to make sure it would last so I put on a second coat. It dried quickly to a gorgeous rose gold metallic sheen. Love this formula. I must try some more from this line.

So which would you go with for Christmas: Raspberry Beret or Revved Up? And what will be on your nails for Christmas?

I was so disappointed that I did not get the Revved Up polish in my Ipsy bag that I finally bought the Floss Gloss color 1080 Pearl I’ve been wanting, in part to be contrary. Like the adult version of “fine! I didn’t want that other polish anyway!”. I just polished my nails with the 1080 Pearl yesterday, and it’s a beautiful shimmery white-silver with a satin finish. All the Floss Gloss polishes are what we’d consider minis so this is not an inexpensive polish per ml, but considering how often I finish a bottle of polish (like, never), and how much I love this color, I’m good with that.

This does not mean I will not still want Revved Up, of course. It’s a great shade and as I’m also a fair-skinned redhead of a certain age group, if it looks good on you, it will probably look good on me – so thanks for all the swatches you do!

    1. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on Revved Up, Sylvia! I’m sorry you didn’t get it in your ipsy bag. It is a great redhead shade so for $5 for the mini, it may be worth it for you to pick it up at some point. But I just checked out 1080Pearl and it is a stunner! I wasn’t familiar with flossgloss, but thanks to you, now I am. Definitely pricey at $13 for a mini, but I agree with you – if it’s a shade you love and will wear often, why not? It’ll look great on Christmas Eve and day! Enjoy the holiday xoxo

  2. I love the Deborah Lippmann polish!

  3. I love both the shades. They look so pretty and the gold metallic would look pretty for the holidays.

    1. Thank you, Sharon! I’m leaning toward the rose gold especially since it doesn’t chip! But others say red. Hoping gold catches up!

  4. The red polish is perfect for Christmas. So pretty! I like the rose gold too though.

    1. Another vote for the red, eh? It seems like red is in the lead by a long shot. I’m wearing the rose gold now, but looks like I’ll be making a change tomorrow. Laura, in case I don’t have a chance to “talk” to you tomorrow, I hope you have a wonderful day with your family. Are you going to your parents’ house? We’re going to a friend’s house, and her name is…Laura!

      1. Hope you enjoy yourself at Laura’s house. 🙂
Yep tomorrow I am going to my parent’s to help prep Christmas dinner. I will not be able to do as much and neither will Brian because he has a bicep rupture. May you and yours have a blessed holiday Allison!

        1. Oh, no! So sorry to hear about Brian’s injury. I hope he’ll be healed before too long. I’m sure your parents are thrilled you’ll be able to be with them on Friday. Laura, I am Jewish so Christmas is not my holiday, but I am happy to get to celebrate some of the traditions with my friends. I hope you have a blessed Christmas with your family!!

  5. I love Deborah Lippmann nail polishes and I would love to try the Raspberry Beret shade because I’ve never seen it before. It looks amazing on you! xo

    1. Such a pretty red with golden glitter. Although it’s called raspberry, it reads quite red.

  9. those are both gorgeous!

  10. Beautiful polishes. I was going to take Revved Up for my manicure today but had to cancel the appt. It would be very pretty for a NYE nail though.

    1. Oh, sorry you had to cancel today. That’s probably what I’ll do: go with red for Christmas and rose gold or many silver for NYE,though our NYE plans are up in the air at this point.

  11. I love that Formula X shade! I’ve never tried any polishes from that line, but I’m definitely putting some on my wish list. Also, don’t feel bad, nail art is a no-go for me too. I can hardly paint them nice enough for swatches lol

    1. Glad I’m not the only one 😉

  12. Raspberry Beret is a beauty! I need to be sensible and give up on nail art as well 🙁 I’ll just spend time envying the talented people who replicate Van Goghs and da Vincis on their nails.

    1. That’s pretty much what I’ve done too! admiration is good

  13. Oh my goodness, I don’t think I’d be able to choose just one, because both of these are gorgeous. I think I’d wear the red on four fingers, with a gold accent nail on my ring finger.

    1. Great compromise! thank you

  14. I love both! Leaning more towards the red but the other shade is also gorgeous!

  15. I don’t think I could pick, I love them both! The inner glitter in the DL is really pretty though, and I love the name.

    1. Heck, maybe I’ll go with green 😉 Merry Christmas, Bailey!

  16. Those are both very pretty shades, though I’m not huge on glitter or sparkle polishes I think they are lovely for the holidays! I haven’t tried Deborah Lippmann before but I want to!

    1. Megan, I ended up opting for Zoya Giovanna, a metallic green with a hint of blue thinking I was going to wear a green and black top but now I’m wearing black with multicolor panels that have almost every color but green lol

  17. Ursula says:

Love your nails…I need to do this with my current collection! Merry Christmas!

    1. Thank you, Ursula! I ended up going with Zoya Giovanna, a beautiful metallic green instead 😉
