Lifting skincare products are my jam, so I was excited to receive City Beauty’s new Skin-Lifting Booster to try out ahead of the launch. I didn’t realize, however, that the launch was so soon, and I forgot to take it with me on my trip to New York. So I have been using it for a couple of weeks, but not the usual month long trial that I usually do. Nevertheless, I am still very excited about CB’s new Skin-Lifting Booster!
What’s New?
Although this is coming from me and not City Beauty, I think that Skin-Lifting Booster is an advancement over their current UpLift Serum. Skin-Lifting Booster appears to be different in a number of ways.
Its promised benefits are:
- lifting
- smoothing
- tightening.
It’s a “supercharged droplet serum” that you can either:
- mix with other skincare products, e.g. other serums or your moisturizer or anti-aging cream
- use alone for a longer-lasting lifted look.
Guess which I do???? You’re right, I use it on its own along my jawline.
Another new aspect of this product is the way you get it out of the bottle. At first, I wasn’t sure about this “anti-dropper”. Then, I got the hang of it. Rather than a glass dropper that allows you to take up and squeeze out a lot of product, the dropper tip is constructed to let you tip out one drop at a time. The shocking thing is that one droplet or two at the very most is enough for me to smooth on in an upward motion from under to over my jawline. Kind of amazing.
The consistency of the droplet is like a slightly heavier water, but somehow it works!
What’s In It?
Packed with advanced peptides (the current workhorses of the skincare world), Skin-Lifting Booster contains a number of key ingredients:
- structuring tetrapeptide that shores up the skin’s surface to reduce that saggy look and camouflage wrinkles so skin looks firmer and smoother
- lipid-encapsulated heptapeptide: as I mentioned in Monday’s post, lipid-encapsulation helps molecules work better by protecting them from breaking down with light and air exposure and helps them penetrate deeper into the layers of skin. Encapsulation is my new watch-word! This ingredients helps increase elasticity for greater firmness
- sea water and red microalgae extract: This combo from the cold ocean creates a film or network on the skin that helps it maintain the tighter, more sculpted and lifted look. That’s definitely what I’m after.
What Else Do You Need to Know?
One thing that I love about City Beauty is that they test their anti-aging skincare products among mature women. Thank goodness!
New Skin-Lifting Booster was tested among a group of women, age 40-70, for 12 weeks along with their moisturizer of choice. After 12 weeks,
- 100% of the women in the test group reported that their skin looked “smoother, plumper, and more supple”
- 84% said their skin looked less saggy or wrinkled and instead looked tighter, more sculpted and lifted.
I have not been using the product long enough (only 2 weeks) to be able to corroborate those findings, but I think I see more of an instant lift when I use it on its own. Plus, the lift seems to remain that way for longer than with other products I’ve tried. I need to find my jar of Multi-Action Sculpting Cream to try the two of them together because I have a feeling that could really be the winning combo. I will try adding a drop or two to MASC and apply it along my jawline and see if I prefer that to using it alone with a random moisturizer on top.
