City Beauty Line-Smoothing HydroMask

I’m not usually a fan of sheet masks. They’re often messy and difficult to apply. Most of the time, I prefer a mask in a jar or tube.

So I didn’t have high expectations when I decided to try City Beauty Line-Smoothing HydroMask. I received this mask a while back, and I have been dragging my feet about trying it because it’s a sheet mask. Finally, I decided to give it a go.

I opened the packet and took out the folded mask. I didn’t bother looking at the directions. Gee, I didn’t even really look at the front of the packet. Of course, I thought, I know how to apply a sheet mask. So I put it on my face, and I thought, boy this is one heavy mask.

As a result, I decided to take a look at the directions. The directions said that the sheet mask was sandwiched between two sheets of plastic. Duh. I had 3 layers of the mask on my face, lol.

me wearing HydroMask sheet mask and the two protective layers covering the sheet mask, a mistake!

I took off the outer coverings, and the bio-cellulose sheet mask itself was so much easier to apply and fit to my face!

The directions said to leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes. I decided to watch the next episode of The Crown on Netflix, and I lay down on my bed to watch. The mask was comfortably cooling, but not cold. It felt so good and so relaxing on my face that I left it on for the entire length of the episode.

Then I removed and discarded the sheet mask, and I distributed the remaining gel from the mask onto my face, and let it dry.

I was so surprised that a sheet mask could feel that relaxing and that rejuvenating. My face felt so hydrated and awake! I intend to go through all the boxes of beauty products in my stash that are waiting to be reviewed to see if maybe City Beauty sent me more than one HydroMask. The directions say to use the HydroMask once or twice a week to see line-smoothing results. Frankly, the relaxation alone would be worth it!

The information on the City Beauty website says that the bio-cellulose material of HydroMask pushes the anti-aging serum deep into the skin to increase elasticity and to smooth out the look of lines, wrinkles and pores. Here are the list of benefits promised:

  • Decreases the look of fine lines
  • Reduces appearance of deep wrinkles
  • Gives skin a plumper, smoother appearance
  • Noticeable difference after just one usel
  • Improved skin quality with regular use
  • Promotes visibly smaller pores
  • Minimizes redness

The mask has lots of goodies that I look for in my facial skincare products: niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, coconut oil, vitamin E and more.

HydroMask is recommended for all skin types including sensitive skin. It is cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, and made without parabens, sulfates or phthalates. The ingredient list below lists “fragrance”, but I didn’t smell a scent when I was applying the mask or wearing it.

City Beauty Line-Smoothing HydroMask comes in a box of 5 masks, and it is priced at $60. I keep my eyes open for sales at City Beauty by subscribing to emails from the company. Not only are Victoria’s emails informative and educational, they’re witty and creative too. Plus they keep me abreast of City Beauty site wide or specific product promotions and sales. Check out the HydroMask. I think you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

    1. I think you would like this HydroMask sheet mask, Helen, because it stays put, is so relaxing because of the cooling but not cold effect, and the plumped, hydrated feeling my skin felt afterwards. It is impressive!

  2. I could use one of these today. Middle of the week “blah” time.
My biggest problem with sheet masks is that it seems like the second I put one on the phone rings or the cats start getting into something… I can use speaker-phone for the former, but let me tell you, it’s pretty hard to chase a cat while trying to keep a sheet mask from sliding off your face! LOL
I had a couple gifted Tatcha sheet masks and they were soooo nice. I might still have a set of the eye ones hiding in the drawer. I should go look.

    1. Although the City Beauty HydroMask stays put very well and doesn’t slide off, I still think it would be tough if the phone rang and I had to have an actual conversation, lol. But in general, I agree, the vast majority of sheet masks can be a pain. HydroMask isn’t one of those. I loved using it. I will wait for a sale, and hopefully buy a box. Rachel, I hope you find your Tatcha sheet masks. I haven’t used their sheet masks, but their regular masks are lovely.

  3. I enjoyed using this mask too. It doesn’t fall or slip off my face like some do.

    1. Yes, I love how it stays put! And I also really enjoyed the cooling but not cold feel on my face 🙂

  4. Sandy Pincombe says:

I really don’t like sheet masks as they always feel so uncomfortable while wearing. This sounds like a great alternative except for the price. 😩

    1. I feel the same way about sheet masks, most of the time, Sandy. I have found just a few that actually stay put, and this is one of them. As I mentioned, it was so comfortable that I didn’t remove it when the time was up because it felt so good on. But I agree with you, the price is high which is why I am going through all my boxes to see if they sent me more than one! I am a big fan of a number of City Beauty products, and I buy them myself – but I wait for their sales.

  5. That sounds nice for dry skin!
