I haven’t done a Face of the Day (FOTD) post in months so I thought I would do one for a change.
So I decided to share my makeup for Thanksgiving Day. I often wear an autumn-inspired outfit and makeup on Thanksgiving, but when pressed for time, I resort to black clothing and that’s what I did this year. I wore black, grey and white, and I chose cool-toned eye makeup to go with it. The only thing I wish I had done differently was choose a different and cool-toned berry-color blush, like my Too Faced Flush Blush in Your Love Is King, but I couldn’t find it so I grabbed what was handy and it was a little off, a neutral instead of a cool-toned berry. Oh well.
Several weeks ago, there was a sale on Frends.com and I managed to pick up the Viseart Cool-Toned Matte Palette for around $50.
This past weekend, there was a 20% off sale on AlconeCo.com and I’ve been wavering about getting the Viseart Paris palette that I’d love but just don’t need.
So here’s what I used:
Face
- Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, travel size $18/full size $52
- Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15 in Sand, $48
- Tarte CC Colored Clay Undereye Corrector in Light/Medium, $24
- Amazing Cosmetics Perfection Stick Cover & Contour in Fair, $23
- Stila Convertible Color Cheek Lip Color in Peony, $25
- Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder in Fair, $8.99
Eyes
- Mirabella Eye Crayon in Blackmail, $24 (upper waterline)
- Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliner Pencil in Voodoo purple (lower lash line), $19 for travel size trio
- Urban Decay Anti-aging Eye Primer, $24
- Viseart Cool-Toned Matte Palette, $75-80: light grey – middle eyelid, plum – crease and V
- Shiseido Lash Curler, $19
- butterLONDON Shadow Clutch Wardrobe Duo Moody Blues, $15, inner corner for some lightness and shimmer
Lips
- Jordana Cosmetics Twist & Shine Moisturizing Lip Crayon in Fresh Fig, a longwearing purple-red, $2.99
- YSL Beauty Rouge Volupte Lipstick in shade 21, Red In Sunlight, $36
So this was my FOTD for Thanksgiving. Did you do anything different with your makeup this holiday?
This is such a pretty look! I’ve been lusting after Too Faced products for so long – so many people seem to be raving about them at the moment!

Thank you, and thanks for commenting, Stephanie! Funnily enough, I couldn’t find my Too Faced blush so none of the products I used in the cool-toned look were from Too Faced! But it is a favorite brand of mine, and I strongly recommend the blushes, La Creme lipsticks, melted liquid lipsticks and so many of the shadow palettes!
Very pretty! I love that dark blue in the palette it’s calling my name hehe
Heather recently posted…IT Cosmetics Cyber Monday Sneak Peek!
Thanks, Heather. You’d look great in the dark blue. It’s deep and gorgeous
Pretty! I love my Viseart palette too. I have the matte neutral one. I love the way you threw your Jordana lip product into the mix for your FOTD!
Stacie recently posted…How to Cover Age Spots
I love the Neutral Matte Palette too, and I probably use it more often than the Cool Mattes. I just love that Jordana lip crayon because the color leaves behind a stain that’s great for a long day like Thanksgiving!
What an absolutely STUNNING look, Allison! You look gorgeous! As a cool-toned girl, this is the perfect type of look for me! I love this color combination!

Thank you so much, Helen! I don’t wear cool tones as often as I should. Certainly fun for a change!
What a coincidence, you featured cool-toned, I featured warm from Viseart today….and we both did FOTD for Thanksgiving, yay!!!!

I was thinking the same thing! Yay!
Oh, I’m so glad you mentioned the Visart palette. I’ve been wanting to get the Paris one as well, but ugh $80 – I put it in my cart, take it out, put it in .. lol.
So Visart, worth the money?
Monica.
MonicaP recently posted…Sephora VIB Sale Haul
Monica, I just bought the Paris palette on sale today at frendsbeauty.com for $56. I really love the two Viseart palettes that I own. I bought them both on sale for about the same price that I paid today. Here’s the link if you want to take a look: http://www.frendsbeauty.com/special-sales/cyber-monday.html?manufacturer=2855 plus there are lots of other good deals on the site today too. $80 seems like too much, but for me, $56 is more do-able!
Thanks for the tip! I got the Paris palette, but was too late for the nude palette (sold out) – oh, well .. I’m so excited anyway !!!!!!! Gawd, such a DEAL!! Thanks again 🙂
Monica.
MonicaP recently posted…Sephora VIB Sale Haul
If you do want the nude as well, try AlconeCo.com where today is the last day of the Friends and Family 20% off sale. The Viseart palettes on their site are priced at $75 so with the sale it’s $60, that I think is still good. The code is “Thankful Since 1950”, I think, in case you want to take a look! I hope we both love our Paris palettes!!
Got it! Girl you are a wealth of beauty information !! I didn’t even know these companies existed. Guess Sephora has some competition because I’ll probably be shopping these discount sites a bit more 🙂
I’m off to do the $20 savings dance 🙂

Thanks, Maria. Fun to go with cool tones for a change!
Such a pretty look on you and I love that lip color.
Thank you, Leigh. I love my new YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in Red In Sunlight, but it’s a hydrating translucent shade and I knew it wouldn’t last on its own. So I added the Jordana Twist & Shout lip crayon in Fresh Fig, a purple-red shade, underneath so the lip color is a mixture of the two 🙂
Wowza! That makes your eyes pop! SO gorgeous! <3

This cool tone Viseart palette is probably the only one that has “tickled my fancy” so far! It’s really pretty.

I really love this look on you Allison! The lipstick looks so great with your hair shade 🙂
Kristina recently posted…Sexy Holiday Makeup ft. Cargo’s The Essentials Palette
Thank you, Kristina. The Jordana Fresh Fig lip crayon definitely deepened and added a bit of purple to the translucent red of the YSL Rouge Volupte, and I liked the result too! It certainly lasted longer than the YSL would have on its own 🙂
Oh wow that Viseart palette is gorgeous!! I always thought I’d want a warm toned one but now I’m second guessing that. 🙂 Your look is really pretty – even if you couldn’t find your preferred blush. 😉
Jodi recently posted…Tub Time: LUSH Golden Wonder Gift Set
Thank you, Jodi! I picked up the Paris palette today on frendsbeauty.com during their sale. So psyched. It’s a shimmer shade palette – looks warmish in the photos
That is a very pretty palette! One day I’ll get around to buying one 🙂

Viseart is worth trying! I scored another today during the sale on frendsbeauty.com 🙂
You looked beautiful! You got a great deal on the Viseart palette.
Usually I wear autumn colors for Thanksgiving, but I went slightly weird this year. I’d been lemming for Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Dirty Money, and finally got it. It arrived the evening before, so I had to wear it on Turkey Day. I used C-Note, Robbery and Deadbeat from the UD Vice 4 palette on my eyes. I guess I had a money-themed look going on.
Oooooh, the “moneyed look”! How wonderful, Rachel! I hope it encourages more of it to come your way! I’ll bet you looked great!
i think it looks great with your eyes! so pretty! i really wish i could see the viseart palettes in person to really get an idea if i want one for sure.. they always look so enticing, but the price!
for my thanksgiving i wore a few make up geek duo chrome eyeshadows and played around with 1985 from the UD vice 4, so i was shimmery and bright hahaha
1985 is a stunning shade and the MUG duo chromes are gorgeous. You must have looked beautifully festive! Sephora doesn’t stock the Viseart palettes so unfortunately there really isn’t anywhere to see them unless you go to AlconeCo in NYC, and you may be able to see them there. They’re worth it, but I have purchased all of mine on sale including the Paris palette I bought today on frendsbeauty.com for $24 off regular price.
I was iffy about the price tag but I’m so glad I splurged on one of these! the quality is beyond anything else I own.
They really are worth it, but I’m glad I managed to pick mine up on sale.
Your eyes are so pretty! I’ve had my eye on these Viseart palettes, but I really can’t justify the price with how many palettes I already own…they are so tempting though!!
Julie recently posted…Sephora VIB Rouge & VIB Savings Event!
It is hard to justify, Julie. That said, I can’t believe I bought the Paris palette on sale today ($24 off!) on frendsbeauty.com 😉 but that’s it, lol!
That looks really beautiful on you. I just don’t do well with matte shadows but my guess is that Viseart makes them silky unlike so many other brands.
MarciaF recently posted…Molton Brown wants you to give the gift of love
A lot of matte shadows can be dry and powdery. The Viseart mattes are very buttery and easy to apply. I always get compliments on my old eyes when I use Viseart. I’m curious about the Viseart Paris shimmer shadows that I just bought today on sale.
Beautiful look. I love the blue on your eyes. I want at least of the viseart palettes. THe one you have is nice!
Kim recently posted…Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water Review

Thank you, Cindy! I thought the ice blue and the plum would help dimensionalize the grey a little. Greys and rose golds are good for blue eyes, right!
So pretty! How do you like the hourglass primer? I used it once when I had a small sample from Sephora but wasn’t too sure about it.
To be honest, it’s not my absolute favorite, but I do like it – not enough to spend the money for the full size bottle, however. I am still devoted to Smashbox face primers!
Good to know!

I actually love the blush on you – and the whole look is fabulous, Allison! 2016 is the year I spring for a Viseart palette. Maybe not the cool-toned one, since it may clash with my yellow tones. Let’s see if they get new ones out by then!

I think that blush looks really nice on you, Allison (and no I’m not biased because it’s the Stila Convertible Color in Peony, I thought so before i read the product list 🙂 ). So jealous that you have a Viseart palette! I’ve been hearing crazy good things about them lately!

Thank you, Sammi! I love the Stila blush as you know, but I thought a berry shade would’ve worked better. No biggie tho. Yes, someday I hope you’ll try a Viseart. They’re almost within the realm of reason if you wait for the major sales at Frends Beauty or AlconeCo
I thought about picking this one up, but got the Paris Nudes and something Muse instead. Love that lippie on you!

Thank you so much, Natalie! I enjoy the cool-toned look for a change. And purple eyeliner is always a favorite of mine. I got Voodoo from Ulta as part of my bday gift this year 🙂
Having seen and swatched all the Viseart palettes in person, I know they’re so worth the money and I’m just waiting to save up to get them all!

Man, everyone is talking about these Viseart palettes these days! I really do need to get my hands on one sometime. I hear they’re just amazing — and I am a CRAZY matte eyeshadow palette lover, so definitely can’t have too many of those! Haha 🙂
I know you’d love the Viseart palettes! Definitely keep your eyes peeled for sales

Do you wear Viseart eyeshadows? Often one of the choices of MUAs. I have a few of their palettes, and though I have some all matte palettes, I love their shimmers as well. Worth considering!
