CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Perfect Penny 225

Rose gold has been my favorite type of gold for many years. When I lived in New York, I spent a lot of time in the Diamond District on West 47 St. I worked nearby, and I just loved to look at the jewelry. Rose gold from the 1940s showed up from time to time in the booths that sold estate jewelry. I found a beautiful 1940s rose gold Bulova watch at one concession, and a rose gold band at another. Together, they made one gorgeous rose gold watch. I still love that watch. Since then, I have acquired rose gold earrings, rings and necklaces. I love the way rose gold looks on my skin. It’s more subtle than regular gold. And it looks good with red hair, and that’s what really counts, lol.

This fall, gold — especially antique gold — is the color that’s everywhere. Fortunately, rose gold seems to have snuck in the back door because it is showing up in nail polish and in eye makeup, too.

As usual, I had $5 in CVS Extrabucks, and CoverGirl was doing a $1 off coupon, and between the two, I managed to buy a bottle of CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in shade 225 Perfect Penny, a rose gold, for 29 cents. The price was right! And I love the classy looking packaging. It reminds me of a smaller version of Chanel.

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss 225I hadn’t used CoverGirl nail polish before. It has a normal size brush. The formula is easy to apply. As usual, I started with a coat of Sally Hansen Miracle Cure as the base coat, and then applied two thin coats of CoverGirl Outlast.

What’s new about CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant nail gloss is that it has a built-in topcoat. Now, I know I should have given it a chance, but none of those ever work for me. So as always, I finished with a coat of essence gel-look topcoat. I’ve been wearing it for a few days now, and it’s wearing well — though I attribute that to the essence gel-look topcoat sealing it in! But for those of you who want to save a step, the built-in topcoat could be just the thing. 🙂

But most of all, I love how this shade looks with my rose gold jewelry! If you’re a rose gold lover like I am, look for a rose gold polish. Every brand has one. The CoverGirl Outlast seems just fine.

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss contains 0.37 fl.oz./17 mL and is made in France. The product is widely available in the U.S. at supermarkets, drugstores, and mass merchandisers. The regular price at CVS was $6.29, but I saw it online at Amazon.com for $3.89 plus a $1 off coupon and free shipping if it’s with an order over $25 (see link below), at drugstore.com for $3.91 plus a $1 off coupon, and Target and Walmart both appear to be selling it for $4.94. Once again, CVS seems to be quite a bit higher, but with my Extrabucks and coupon, I sure got a deal.

I love this shade, Amber, but I love all things rose gold! I will keep my eye out for the CG Hunger Games minis. We don’t get that many LEs in my local CVS stores, but maybe we’ll luck out. I hope you find them 😉
