Crabtree and Evelyn Avocado Olive and Basil Bath & Body Products

Gee, it’s about a month ago that I went on a business trip to Indianapolis. It was the first time I visited the downtown area, and the city was striking with lots of monumental architecture. There were a couple of war memorials, the huge state capitol building, the Scottish Rite Cathedral for the Masons. The temperatures were frigid, so I didn’t get to walk around.  Instead, I viewed the city from my hotel window, the car windows and from the big windows of the Skyway, an enclosed walkway that links many of the downtown hotels, restaurants and stores.

My clients and I stayed at the Embassy Suites, and the hotel provided very nice amenities in the bathroom. What a fun way to try new bath and body products!

Embassy Suites stocked the bathroom with Crabtree and Evelyn’s Avocado Olive & Basil line:

  • Moisturising face soap and body bar soap
  • Revitalising shampoo
  • Revitalising conditioner
  • Skin Revitalising Body Lotion.

The collection also includes shower gel and hand lotion, but Embassy Suites didn’t provide those, boo hoo.

The Avocado Olive & Basil scent was a good choice for a hotel since it has a mild herbal scent that’s gender-neutral. Although I prefer something a little more floral or a citrus, it was a pleasant fresh scent that doesn’t linger.

The soap was wonderful, making lots of lather, and it was very moisturizing. I like it a lot.

The shampoo also made a lot of lather, and I felt like it got my hair really clean. I like an almost squeaky feeling, and the shampoo provided that sensation without making my hair feel like it was stripped. The conditioner was thick enough and very moisturizing. I noticed that the “Conditioning” version of the shampoo and conditioner (rather than “Revitalising” is now on sale on www.crabtree-evelyn.com for $12.50 rather than $18).

The body lotion, however, was my least favorite product. It was not quite thick and moisturizing enough for my dry skin. And the moisture it did provide did not last long enough, in spite of the fact that it left my skin looking shiny in an unattractive way. Also the lotion’s scent was stronger than the other products, and I didn’t love it. The avocado olive and basil fragrance didn’t go with my perfume, but thankfully the herbal scent faded fairly quickly.

Even though I wasn’t a big fan of the lotion, I took the extras of the other products home! Thank you, Embassy Suites!

And goodbye, Indianapolis, till next time 🙂

I think I remember you posting on Avocado & Basil or something like it, Tina, and I remember that you liked it a lot! I love almost all of C&E’s stuff, but I think I tend more toward fruits and florals than herbal, truth be told.

  2. to bad the lotion didn’ty work out for you. My body’s skin is also dry. Did you try out the New Nivea products?

Yes, I did try the Nivea body lotion, but I ended up giving it away. I hated the scent 🙁 Actually, I have several body butters at home that I love (as well as good old Curel lotion). But I love trying the freebies in hotels coz it’s a great way to try something new 🙂

How funny I just got back from Seattle and if only I had known I would have asked for a few more bottles, we stayed 2 days and didnt have the maid come in to replace the bottles, when I got home I looked it up and saw how expensive it was and I will say it is worth every penny! Only thing is they dont seem to have it but Ebay has sample bottles for 6 bucks each!

    1. Oh, too bad, Charlee! I see that ebay has sample bottles in lots of 10 for about $12: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/351138892019?lpid=82 Check it out! But if there’s one product that you really like, e.g. the lotion or shampoo, why not just buy it at Crabtree & Evelyn? I bought the lemon basil soap last holiday season, and I think the bar lasted about 4 months. It is a lovely scent! Let me know what you do!

    2. I definitely brought mine home. Also this year, I spent quite a bit of time at the W Hotel, and their amenities are from Bliss. I definitely loaded up on those! Gotta review ’em too one of these days 🙂

before I saw what brand the shampoo was I went to the Seattle outlet mall and walked right by their outlet, now I regret not stopping by lol Oh well we bought a house while we were up there so I am planning a shopping spree when we move, I will add this to my list, I love Washington state !!

    1. I haven’t been to Seattle in a very long time. You are making me miss it!! Was Mt. Ranier visible during your visit? How lucky you are that you are moving to Seattle! Best of luck 🙂 And thanks for letting me know that Crabtree & Evelyn has an outlet store! Who knew? Hope you’ll check in with the blog from time to time and let me know what goodies you pick up at C&E Outlet in the future! 🙂

I could see all the mountains and it was hot again! The last we went in 09 it was 106 for the entire 11 days we were there, this time it was upper 80’s but that is s the reason we are moving I hate the heat in Texas LOL

I wish I was moving to Seattle my favorite areas are those covered in mountains so we picked a small town that was in the movie ” A Boy’s Life” it’s called Concrete and whopping 719 people live there LOL add 3 when we get moved in 🙂

    1. Oh, how lucky that the mountains were out! I have never heard of it being 106 in Seattle. Now that is strange. 80s is even warm for there. What a change it will be from Texas! “Concrete”, now I’ll have to look that one up on a map. I didn’t remember it from the movie. I live in a town of about 2000 and I thought that was small. Well, hopefully, you’ll get to know everyone pretty quickly. Enjoy your new home! All the best…

youtube has the movie online and I think its the website http://www.City-Data.com that has a fourm for every town in every state, go there and type in Concrete Washington someone posted the link with the movie and they indicate where in the video the reference Robert Deniro made about Concrete he even shows the old Concrete tower that is still there after all these years

    1. How cool is that?! I will check out Concrete, Charlee 🙂
