CRYSTAL Deodorant, the company that invented the first mineral salt deodorant 30 years ago, has launched a new magnesium-enriched collection!
Background
Magnesium in deodorants has been around for several years. In fact, people talked about using Milk of Magnesia as a natural deodorant. Magnesium does not plug the sweat glands and stop wetness like aluminum does, so it’s not an anti-perspirant. Your body was meant to perspire as a means of cooling. The problem is actually odor control. Natural deodorants employ ingredients like baking soda or magnesium to neutralize odor.
I read that when you make an initial switch from using anti-perspirant to a natural deodorant, it takes a week or so for your sweat glands to unblock, and that is when your sweat mixes with bacteria under your arms and can smell. Over time as your sweat glands unblock the acrid smell can be mitigated with natural ingredients like magnesium.
CRYSTAL Magnesium Enriched Deodorant
CRYSTAL Magnesium Enriched Deodorant has been dermatologist-tested and has been shown to be non-irritating and good for all skin types including those with sensitive skin. And it doesn’t leave white marks on your skin or clothing. It is quick drying, non-staining, non-greasy, and it has been shown to provide odor control for 24 hours.
Also, like all CRYSTAL deodorants, it is vegan and cruelty-free.
It comes in 5 great scent combinations:

- Sea Salt + Sage

I’ve been using Coconut + Vanilla for a few weeks, and I love it. To be honest, I have tried several natural deodorants over the past 6 years, and I found that the CRYSTAL brand of natural deodorants work the best for me.
For the past two years, I have been using CRYSTAL Mineral-Enriched Invisible Solid Deodorants, and I loved the two fragrance variants, Freshly Minted and Mountain Fresh (reviewed here). When I was sent the new Magnesium-Enriched invisible solid stick to try out, I was hesitant. I have had great results with the CRYSTAL Mineral-Enriched and I liked the “slip” that the formula provides, so I was a little concerned about switching. I needn’t have worried. I think that CRYSTAL Magnesium-Enriched provides even more effective odor control for me than the other options.
CRYSTAL Magnesium-Enriched Deodorants is a white solid rounded-top stick, and it feels a bit stiffer than the Mineral-Enriched Stick that I would describe as a solid gel. Nevertheless, Magnesium-Enriched applies without tugging and it is dry on contact. The Coconut + Vanilla scent is light, sweet and unobtrusive. The scent is imperceptible in seconds, so it doesn’t compete with scented body lotion or perfume. I have found that it keeps me smelling good even after vigorous exercise. I can even go more than 24 hours before reapplying. That totally impressed me!
Like the other CRYSTAL deodorants it is free of parabens, phthalates, artificial fragrance and color.
CRYSTAL Deodorants are sold at CVS, Amazon and Sprouts. Since CRYSTAL Magnesium-Enriched Deodorants are brand new, they may be a little hard to find right now. They are listed as “currently unavailable” on Amazon where you can sign up to get alerted when they are back in stock. I couldn’t find this new SKU at CVS.com, but keep an eye out at your local store. The
CRYSTAL Deodorant generously sent me all 5 of the new Magnesium-Enriched deodorant scents. Usually, it takes me at least a year to use up one of CRYSTAL’S deodorant sticks, so I thought why should I keep them all only to have them go out of date. So I am sharing the wealth, so to speak!

I think the new collection of CRYSTAL Deodorant just launched, Marcia. I have only tried the Coconut + Vanilla, but the scent is very light and for me, it fades immediately.
I’ve been using natural deodorants for almost two years. I haven’t tried this one yet. I try to stay away from those with baking soda because it causes discoloration in my pits.

Those scents sound amazing! I am sticking to anti-perspirants for now, since I don’t like sweaty underarms, but I am always tempted by the fragrances on deodorants.
Sea Salt & Sage sounds like something I would like – clean and fresh scent. I’m always looking for new brands to try and I have not been very lucky in finding deodorant brands other than Dove.

I have yet to take the more natural deodorant plunge but this one sounds promising. I’m glad to know you really need to give it time for your body to get used to it, I could see giving up quick thinking the product wasn’t working. The coconut vanilla would certainly be my favorite scent!

I love Crystal deodorants but have only been using the roll on. Would love to try the solid Sage & Sea Salt scent.
Wouldn’t you know, Mary, I haven’t tried the Crystal Deo roll-on! I’ve tried three of their solid collections, and as much as I loved the “solid gel” Fresh Mint and Mountain Fresh, I think this new solid collection with magnesium is even more effective. Good luck in the drawing!
I’ve read good reviews about this brand of deodorant and have been wanting to try it. I would choose the Lavender + Rosemary and the Sea Salt + Sage scents.
