Derma E Branches Out: Scar Gel and Psorzema Cream w Giveaway

You may know Derma E for first rate, natural and affordable facial skincare.

I recently wrote about their lovely Nourishing Rose Cleansing Oil and Microdermabrasion Scrub not long ago.

Well, Derma E is more than facial skincare! They also make “therapeutic topicals”, skincare products to address a variety of skin conditions and to help create healthy skin. I received two of them:

  • Scar Gel
  • Psorzema Cream.

Derma E Scar Gel

In September, I had a sebaceous cyst removed from my right breast. It was an office procedure, and though I put it off for almost 5 years, it turned out to be no big deal (except the local anesthesia really hurt, lol). The plastic surgeon did a good job, and the incision is probably less than 2 inches long. Yet, it is right at my cleavage. When I took a selfie the other day, I discovered that the scar is noticeable when I wear a low cut top.

Thankfully, the incision is healing well, and I am supposed to be massaging it to help the scar heal. I’m also at the stage where I can start using a scar reducing product. Was it just a coincidence that Derma E sent me a jar of their Scar Gel?

Derma E Scar Gel is a clear gel with a clean, fresh scent that disappears on application. To me, it feels a little cool going on but maybe that’s just because it’s a gel. It dries quickly, is invisible, doesn’t stain clothing, and it’s not sticky. It’s very pleasant to use, and I like it more than the cream product that I used from another brand last time I had surgery.

The gel contains a number of botanicals including Allicin (another way to spell my name perhaps?) from the onion bulb that is antibiotic, anti fungal and helps shrink lesions. It also contains Allantoin and Pathenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) that break down scar tissue and promote healthy skin. My scar is a bit red and a little bumpy, and I know that it takes a long time for scars to fade. So I am getting started now massaging my scar with Scar Gel, and I hope within a few months, it will fade. For my relatively new scar, the directions say to apply it 2-3 times a day for 8 weeks. I’ll let you know how I make out in a couple of months.

I happened to see Derma E Scar Gel on MakeupAlley.com, and I stopped to read some of the reviews. Most of the reviewers were using Scar Gel to fade scars from acne. Most of them seem to be expecting to see results after a week or two, and not surprisingly, most did not. Nevertheless, some reviewers who stuck with the product did see results. If you have acne scars, take a look at the MakeupAlley reviews and consider giving it a try. I guess you don’t have to have surgery to use Scar Gel!

Derma E Scar Gel contains 2 ounces/56 grams and is priced around $19.95 though right now it seems to be a few dollars less at Walgreens.com. It is sold on the Derma E website, at Ulta Beauty, Walgreens, Target, and Walmart.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Glycerin (Vegetable Derived), Allium Cepa (Onion) Bulb Extract, Beta-Alanine, Allantoin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance.

Derma E Psorzema Cream

October was Eczema Awareness Month, and I had wanted to get my post up in time. Unfortunately, I missed it by a week. If you think you may have eczema, click for some helpful information on the condition, its causes and symptoms from the National Eczema Association.

Psoriasis is another skin condition that sometimes may be confused with eczema. Check out this information on psoriasis from the Mayo Clinic.

Both conditions can be very painful.

Derma E Psorzema Cream was developed to soothe and relieve scaly, flaky and itchy dry skin associated with psoriasis and eczema. I did not try this product because I don’t have either skin condition and I wanted to give this product away to someone who can really use it. So instead, here is what Derma E says about Psorzema Cream:

“This product is made with a safe and effective blend of herbal extracts and skin vitamins such as Neem, Burdock, Bearberry and Vitamins A and E to help soften and soothe dry, irritated, scaling skin. It penetrates deeply to help reduce redness and encourage healthy skin.”

Derma E Psozema Cream can also be used on the scalp at night. Apply it with a cotton swab and wear a shower cap to protect sheets and clothing. Wash and style hair as usual in the morning.

The product does not contain steroids or coal or pine tars. It does not replace a prescription product that your doctor may have prescribed.

I haven’t opened the product since I’m giving it away, but it is a white cream and it is described as “a pleasant smelling moisturizing cream”. It can be applied as often as needed to relieve symptoms of eczema or psoriasis.

The jar contains 4 oz./113g and is priced around $19.95. It too is available on the Derma E website, Ulta Beauty, Walgreens, Target and Walmart. Again, Walgreens.com is currently selling it for $15.99

Ingredients: Purified Water, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Vegetable Derived), Glycerin (Vegetable Derived), Cetyl Alcohol (Plant Derived), Stearic Acid (Vegetable Derived), Glyceryl Stearate (Vegetable Derived), Peg-100 Stearate, Arctium Lappa (Burdock) Root Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Zanthoxylum Zanthoxyloides (Fagara) Bark Extract, Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi (Bearberry) Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Leaf Extract, Coptis Chinensis (Chinese Golden Thread) Root Extract, Berberis Aquifolium (Barberry) Extract, Allantoin, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Polysorbate 20, Dimethicone, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.

Both Scar Gel and Psorzema Cream are 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, and GMO-free.

  2. Very interesting! I’ve never seen these products from the line but love everything else I’ve tried. I’ll definitely look into the scar cream for a burn scar that I have from my curling rod.

    1. Ouch, that burn would hurt! I’m curious to see if Scar Gel will help my surgical scar settle down a little faster but it’s hard to remember to apply 3x/day!

  3. Michelle Tamasa says:

Ooo! I hope you’ll update us in a couple weeks on your healing scar and I hope it’s too say it’s gone! Is it supposed to help with raised scars?

My sister struggles with psoriasis along her hairline. I wonder if the cream would help at night.

    1. Michelle, my new scar is raised at this point. I have to get more disciplined to use the Scar Gel 3x/day, and see what happens. I’ll report back in a few months. Honestly, it takes scars a looooooong time to settle down but maybe this will help it happen faster! I’m glad you entered on behalf of your sister. Thank you and good luck!

  4. I just really want to sample the DermaE brand but I do get really sore cracked hands in the Winter.

    1. Heather, I think you could probably use the Psorzema to heal dry cracked hands since it’s a moisturizer. Hey, why not!

  5. I’ve always wondered if products like this work for medical scars. I’d love to see status photos. I have both back & achilles scars and never used anything, but always thought “what if.” I don’t have psoriasis or eczema – only dry flakey skin during the winter…the desert is dry, but it’s REALLY dry in the winter. 🙂

    1. I used another brand when I had more major surgery several years ago, and it did help. Derma E Scar Gel is easier to use because it’s a greaseless gel and it doesn’t stain. I don’t think I’ll post pix for this since it’s on my breast, but I’ll let you know in a few months, Kristi!

  6. My dad had terrible eczema and psoriasis. He was diabetic and I remember he’d have to use this awful smelling cream to get some relief. At least now I know there’s a better product for this condition.

    1. Although it doesn’t replace a prescription cream, it sounds so much better than the pine tar or coal tar products that used to be the primary OTC choice. I’m sorry that your dad suffered from these skin conditions. They can be so painful, embarrassing and all around awful.

  7. I didn’t know DermaE had a scar product! I have had a few basal cell carcinomas that had to be excised so I will definitely get some of this.

    1. Derma E Scar Gel is a very pleasant product to use. So much better than the other scar cream I used years ago.

  8. Wish you lived closer to me. I’d laser that scar away! Laser scar removal produce the most optimal outcome while it’s new. I’d be interested to know how you respond to this topical. I know it’s near the breast area but nonetheless, if you’re going to the beach, sunscreen including that part to minimize risk of hyperpigmentation

    1. Thank you, Kathryne! I didn’t realize that laser got rid of or faded scars. Yes, next summer I will remember to apply sunscreen to that spot – thank you for mentioning that because I might not have known to specifically use sunscreen on it.

  9. I didn’t know that derma E had a scar removal cream!

I have a giant scar to use it on.

    1. Julie, were you entering the giveaway or commenting on the Scar Gel? Just to be sure it was clear, this giveaway is for the Derma E Psorzema Cream, not for the Scar Gel. 🙂

  11. Robbie says:

Looks promising for my skin condition

    1. I hope so 🙂 Thanks for entering, Robbie! Good luck!

  12. This is a product line that I love using. Their products have always worked out so well for my skin and especially when my skin is going through a sensitive moment. THey’re priced at such a great price point and I can find them easily at stores nearby. Love them!

    1. Thanks, Katie! I understand, and that’s why I’m giving it away. I figured why waste it when I could give it to someone who could actually use it?

  15. These sound like such useful products! I could actually use the scar gel, as my kitten came with fleas and of course, I was bitten (and scratched…) and just about everything scars me.
Bailey recently posted…Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine LipstickMy Profile

    1. Oh no, Bailey! I hope you and your kitty are both better now. The Derma E Scar Gel is a very nice product, and I’m hoping that longer term it will fade my scar. Hopefully it would fade your scars from bites and scratches too!

  16. Paol Trenny says:

I have severe psoriasis on my scalp and this would be perfect to soothe the itchiness and hopefully the large flakes that accompany it from scratching.

    1. I’m so happy that you entered, Paol. I didn’t want to sample this product because I really want to give it away to someone who can use it. I have a skin condition, exfoliative keratolysis, that thankfully only happens for a couple of months during the summer, but I found something that works for me. I hope this product from Derma E will provide relief for folks with psoriasis or eczema. Good luck in the giveaway!!

  17. Mary W says:

  27. I was actually in a burn acident in 2011 in the burn unit and everything. I was so lucky and blessed but it did leave scars. I cant get a sun tan or wear clothes that reveal to much skin. It burnt my chest arms legs face and neck. it pretty much got the whole front side of my body.
So I am always looking for new ways to demolish the scars. Thank you for this giveaway. If you want to see pictures just email me and I will send them.

    1. Oh Sam, I am so sorry to hear about your accident in 2011. How terrible! But I’m glad you are alive. I was sent two products, the Scar Gel that I am using myself after my little surgery in September, and the Psorzema Cream for those with psoriasis or eczema. Since I don’t have either of those conditions, I am giving away just the Psorzema Cream that I have not used. I hope you understand. I wish you the best!
