Derma E Hydrating Facial Wipes: the Perfect Wipes for Winter

Even though our trip to Amsterdam isn’t till April, I’m starting to think about what to take with me in terms of cosmetics. Though I always like to buy beauty products when I travel, it’s helpful to arrive with at least the basics. So makeup remover is something I know I’ll need, but I’d like to travel light. Makeup wipes, right?

A couple of weeks ago, I received a package from Derma E, a wonderful natural and affordable skincare brand. It had a bunch of goodies in it including prebiotic powder that you mix with water from a brand wittily called Regular Girl, three different masks that I’ll review another time, and a package of Derma E Hydrating Facial Wipes with Hyaluronic Acid.

I’ve been using Derma E Hydrating Cleanser with HA for a few months, and it made my Best of 2017 Skincare list, so how nice to get to try the Hydrating Facial Wipes. They’re perfect for a double cleanse routine that I favor, and they’d be great to take to Amsterdam. I thought about saving them for the trip, but that’s 10 weeks away (wow, only 10 weeks!) so I didn’t want to wait. If I like them, I can always buy more.

So do I like them? Yes, I do. With hyaluronic acid, they’re perfect for winter to help my skin soak up and keep the moisture!

The wipes are made from soft fiber that I discovered is compostable (so once the snow melts, I could go outdoors and add them to the compost pile in my backyard?). They are scented, but the fragrance is very light and fresh. They do a great job removing my makeup without tugging and without having to go over the same area a million times. They remove my eye makeup, and they don’t irritate my overly sensitive eyes.

The wipes are pre-moistened, of course, and they contain a lot of plant extracts that deliver antioxidants from super fruits as well as hyaluronic acid in the absorbable form sodium hyaluronate. As I mentioned earlier, I do a double cleanse at home: I remove my makeup first and then follow up with a separate cleanser. When I travel, I may not always do the second step. The Derma E Hydrating Wipes with hyaluronic acid will be perfect to give me some extra moisturizing while I’m on the go. Maybe I won’t have to bring HA serum with me either since I won’t rinse the HA off. I’ll use up this pack that contains 25 wipes, and then pick up another pack before we go.

I also think the wipes will be great for summer to use to freshen up after jogging. And for those of you who go to a gym, they’d be perfect to put in your gym bag.

Derma E Hydrating Facial Wipes, priced at $7.99, are available on the Derma E website, at Ulta Beauty, Walgreens, and other retailers. Thanks, Derma E, for turning me on to these super-soft, hydrating, makeup removing wipes!

  1. Facial wipes have come a long way from the drying – even soapy – ones of the past. I like that a number of them are now infused with hyaluronic, aloe, charcoal, or even Vit C (Ole Henriksen).

    1. I agree, Renu. Before, I never thought of wipes as adding anything to my skin. But for travel especially, makeup removing wipes that also can take the place of a serum for a few days or more seems like a great idea to me!

  2. I remember the days I use facial wipes to remove my makeup and I went to sleep right after. Honestly I cringe when I think back of those days. LOL! Facial wipes definitely have changed since a decade or more ago and some are really good! I rarely use wipes but when I do it is either Vichy or Cetaphil’s.

    1. I don’t use very often myself because I like to double cleanse usually with micellar water to remove my makeup followed up by any number of cleansers I have in my stash. But these wipes came at a good time. I think I’ll get a new pack before we go on our trip in the spring because I won’t have to bring MW, cleanser or HA serum. Handy!

  3. I am so glad that you like them as well! They are really fantastic wipes!

  4. I’m going to look for these at Ulta next time I’m in. I would love a wipe that actually removes my (non waterproof) mascara! I love that these have HA, and that they are only $7.99! I do hope you’ll share pics from Amsterdam with us!

    1. The wipes are so handy. They save me from having to do a separate HA serum, so they’ll be perfect for my trip! We’re not going for another 2 months, but I certainly will share my pix. We’re going to see the tulips in bloom 🙂

  5. These are sitting in my cart at Amazon but now I’m concerned that I won’t be able to tolerate the fragrance. I was going to buy them for my trip too. Not sure if I will now or just stick with my travel size bottle of Garnier or Bioderma even though they don’t have the hyaluronic acid.

    1. Marcia, when I sniff the entire package with 25 wipes, it smells like a light cucumber scent to me. When I used a single sheet, the scent is so very light. But I will sniff/check it again tonight when I remove my makeup and let you know.

  6. These won’t work for my acne-prone skin, but I do love Derma E! Also – can I come with you to Amsterdam? 😀

    1. Yes, not every skincare product works on every skin type. But that’s OK! And re: Amsterdam, the more the merrier!!

  7. I like this one too! I use it mostly after a workout to wipe the sweat off my face

    1. Perfect usage occasion for them!

  8. I love to use these first thing in the morning to refresh my face without having to use a cleanser. I can’t wait to see what you pick up in Amsterdam!

    1. Cassie, that’s a great suggestion! Often I don’t need a cleanser in the morning (though my a.m. cleanser is the Derma E Hydrating Cleanser with HA, lol) so these would be perfect

  9. Sounds like a good product if they keep being useful after the package has been open for a while. I feel like this kind of products often dries out after a short time.

  10. These do sound perfect for the colder months! I go through wipes like nobody’s business!

  11. I double cleanse too, but sometimes I’ll go in with a makeup wipe before hand to help get all of my makeup off. I’ll have to check these out next time I’m at ulta!

    1. I definitely count makeup remover wipes as part of a double cleanse routine. I either use wipes or micellar water for step 1. They are really nice for those of us with dry skin or for the winter or areas that are hot and dry. Great to take to the gym too!

  12. As it starts to warm up here in Arizona (too hot to wear make up) this would be a good post work wipe to refresh and remove oils. Thanks for the great review! AND AMSTERDAM!!!?? HOW EXCITING!

    1. The Derma E Hydrating Facial Wipes really are terrific to keep at work or at the gym because they are hydrating enough that you could get away without moisturizer at least for a few hours. And yes, I am super psyched about Amsterdam!!

  13. I really should have some of these on hand.

    1. They’re really good especially in winter when many of us could use more hydration.
