You can never have too much of a good thing, right? That’s how I feel about Derma E’s Vitamin C Brightening collection. I’ve been using Derma E Vitamin C Serum for a couple of years now. I reviewed their Vitamin C Gentle Daily Cleansing Paste last year (here). In fact, I have another tube to give away, so stay tuned. And waiting in the wings, I have Vitamin C Renewing Moisturizer and Vitamin C Weightless Moisturizer SPF 45.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been using Derma E Vitamin C Daily Brightening Cleanser. To be honest, I use cleansers primarily to clean my skin rather than to deliver active ingredients because it is difficult to know how much of any active ingredient remains on the skin after rinsing. Increasing the concentration of actives in cleansers helps as does bundling actives with other ingredients that protect them from water molecules. But, I don’t know the specifics of how most of the skincare products I use are formulated, so I either have to take them on faith or see what my own results are. That said, although Vitamin C Daily Brightening Cleanser contains licorice extract, green tea, glycolic acid, Provitamin B as well as Vitamin C ester, I love it primarily because of how it cleans my face.
Derma E Vitamin C Daily Brightening Cleanser is a pH balanced, clear liqui-gel with a light and lovely orange scent from the orange oil in the product. I apply some onto my hand and sometimes I add water to my hands and lather it up, and other times I apply the gel to my skin and then add water and create creamy lather by massaging my face. Either way, for me it is a gentle cleanser. It’s sulfate-free, but it still does an excellent job cleansing without stripping my skin. Because I spend a lot of time working in my garden, my skin is often dirty and Vitamin C Daily Cleanser gets my face clean again. I do a two-step cleanse when I wear makeup, so I use micellar water to take off my makeup, and follow that with Vitamin C cleanser.
I have been testing some other serums so I haven’t been using my tried and true Derma E Vitamin C Serum lately, but soon I will add it back in and start using the Derma E Vitamin C Renewing Moisturizer and the daytime Weightless Moisturizer SPF 45. Then I will have a better idea of how the collection works together to brighten my skin, ease lines and wrinkles and see if it helps fade some of my remaining stubborn dark spots. But in the meantime, Derma E Vitamin C Daily Brightening Cleanser is a delightful way to clean my skin.
As a reminder, Derma E is a “clean beauty” brand, meaning it is made with natural ingredients. More importantly, Derma E products are 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, and GMO-free.

I think I’d enjoy this one. I really like the hydrating line, the blue one. But this sounds gentle and I need one that doesn’t strip the skin.
The hydrating collection is really good too. But the Vitamin C cleanser is definitely worth trying especially if you are a fan of orange scents!
I really love this cleanser so much, and in fact it is my current favorite from their cleansers!

I think it’s my favorite Derma E cleanser too, but I also like the foaming one
I have to get back on DermaE’s list. So many products I haven’t had the pleasure to try yet.
