DHC Lip Cream and September 20% Off Sale

It’s been almost 20 years since I became aware of Japanese brand, DHC. My friend Miriam told me that she had been buying skincare products from the DHC catalogue for quite a while. I decided I would try it, too. I remember that I loved getting the little sample packets in the mail with my order. Back then, it seemed very novel. In fact, I thought that DHC started that trend.

I always had good results with DHC products, but when I started blogging, I left many of my tried and true brands for new-to-me brands including other Japanese brands.

DHC Lip Cream

So I was delighted when DHC reached out to me recently asking me to try a few of their products. Today, I am going to talk about just one of them, DHC Lip Cream. You must think I sit around all day applying various lip balms, and you wouldn’t be wrong. I believe I am the Lip Balm Queen.

In fact, I have used DHC Lip Cream in the past. I forgot how good it is.

First, I love the colors of the box: peach and gray. That retro color combo is one of my faves. My grandmother used to work for a women’s clothing store in Boston called Jay’s, and I think their bags or boxes were peach with a charcoal gray silhouette of a mannequin.

Second, I love the lipstick-like slim swivel tube. It’s a decidedly elegant lip balm.

Third and most important, the balm itself is non-sticky, very long-lasting, and highly effective. Now, I remember why I liked DHC Lip Cream so much in the past: the first ingredient is lanolin, and lanolin is about the best there is for my dry lips. It also contains lots of other hydrating ingredients including ginseng root,antioxidant-rich olive oil, squalane and aloe extract.

DHC products do not contain added fragrance or colors. Lip Cream is unscented and does not have a flavor.

The tube contains 0.5 oz./1.5g. It’s made in Japan. The regular price is $9.50.

DHC Gratitude Event

From September 1-15, DHC is saying arigatou or thank you to their customers with 20% off when you purchase on their website DHCcare.com with the code: GRATITUDE. With the discount, Lip Cream is $7.60. Nice.

What’s Next?

DHC sent me two more of their hero skincare products to try. One is their iconic Deep Cleansing Oil. I have tried it in the past when I received a sample with my orders. It always left my skin so soft. It will be great to try it out on a regular basis. The second product is one I wasn’t familiar with Astaxanthin Collagen All-in-One Gel. You’ll hear from me about them in a few weeks. In the meantime, take a look at DHC’s offerings and take advantage of their sale. 🙂

  2. You take good care of your lips. I know you love the cotton pads from Koh Gen Do but my favorite is from DHC. I like that I can buy them at other places than their website and I like the way they hold up. Thanks for turning me on to this lip cream – I worry about ordering things because of fragrance but you’ve set that aside.

    1. All of the DHC products have no added fragrance, so the entire line would be a good bet for you. It’s fun to rediscover a brand that used to be a favorite and realize that you still love it! I just started a new box of Koh Gen Do cotton pads, but I will definitely check out the ones from DHC especially now during one of their fairly rare across the board sales! Thanks for the tips!

  3. Looks nice! I love lip products that have packaging that makes me happy and I agree – that color combo is perfect! I also love that the packaging doesn’t require me to use my fingers to apply. Thanks for the review!

I’ve become a lip care fiend of late. I’ve been using Laneige, Bite Beauty, and EcoLips. Haven’t tried this yet. Now I have to.

    1. I love that “lip care fiend”! I have Laneige, Bite Beauty and Eco Lips in my huge lip stash. Whatever works, right? Hope you have an excellent weekend, Gabrielle. Any special plans?

      1. Gabrielle says:

Absolutely! Whatever works! I’m taking it easy this weekend. I had doctor and dental visits this past week. Ugh! What about you? Any excitement?

        1. Ugh, definitely sounds like it was a stressful week. We’re going on a cruise in the harbor on a beautiful schooner to see the other schooners from out of town that are in Gloucester for the weekend for a race and so people can see them. It’s fun. Tomorrow night, we’ll go to the Boat Parade where regular people decorate their boats with lights etc. and parade them through the canal into the harbor. And later, there will be fireworks. Actually, Labor Day weekend is a fun weekend around here, if the weather cooperates. Hope you have a good weekend and you have time to recharge your batteries xoxo

          1. Gabrielle says:

Wow! You will have a marvelous time of it! I love boats. Happy Labor Day!!!

          2. Thank you!! Wish you could join us!
