DHC Skincare’s Iconic Product, Deep Cleansing Oil

Before I was a blogger, I didn’t really understand using oil as a cleanser. So glad that I learned more about it. For example, cleansing oil uses the “good oils” in your skin to remove the “bad oils.” It works according to the principle that “like attracts like”. When massaged into the skin, oils in the cleanser bind to surface impurities pulling out dirt without clogging pores. Oil allows impurities to be rinsed away leaving the skin clean, soft and hydrated.

I used the well-known Japanese skincare brand, DHC, for years, but I never tried their iconic Deep Cleansing Oil. I was delighted when DHC sent me a bottle to try.

One pump of the amber-colored with a natural liquid is enough to cleanse my entire face. I apply the golden oil with dry hands to my dry face. Next, I add water. Although it doesn’t create foam, water mixed with Deep Cleansing Oil creates a milky lotion that lifts away makeup and dirt.

When I wear makeup, I usually double cleanse: I use micellar water or a cleansing balm to remove my makeup, and then I follow that with a liquid, gel or cream cleanser to “clean” my skin. The great part about DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is that it’s a one and done cleanser. I have no need of the second cleanser.

Plus, the best part is that DHC Deep Cleansing Oil doesn’t leave my face feeling oily. It leaves my skin feeling like velvet. In fact, it’s good for all skin types. I’m glad I have the 6.7 fl. oz. bottle, so it will last me through the entire winter to keep my skin hydrated.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is made from a 100% organic olive oil formula along with rosemary leaf oil and vitamin E, and it has a light, natural olive oil/rosemary aroma. But when I apply a pump’s worth to my face, I don’t smell it. The oils are rich in antioxidants to help protect skin from harmful free-radicals.

I haven’t tried it yet, but Deep Cleansing Oil is also an effective makeup brush cleaner! Makes sense.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil comes in two sizes:

  • travel size: 2.3 fl. oz. for $14.00
  • full size: 6.7 fl. oz. for $28.00.

Dermstore.com has a medium size 4.1 fl. oz. pump bottle for $21. It seems to be the only retailer who carries that size!

You can purchase DHC Deep Cleansing Oil and other DHC products on the DHC website where you still get 4 free samples with every purchase, at Ulta.com, Dermstore.com, Target, and Amazon.

Ingredient list: olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride, sorbeth-30 tetraoleate, pentylene glycol, phenoxyethanol, tocopherol, stearyl glycyrrhetinate, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil

  1. This is the only beauty oil that I’ve bought (I have others through blogging). It does great for me especially on days when I’ve worn heavier makeup. And I’ve used it to clean beauty sponges.

    1. I haven’t been using sponges so much in the past year, but I will remember your tip the next time I do. You’re right that DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is a work horse when it comes to heavy makeup or waterproof mascara

  2. This is such a great quality cleansing oil. I remember having a small sample long ago, and I really liked it a lot!

    1. It was the same thing for me. I had tried a sample, but I never owned a bottle. It is so much easier to use in the pump bottle than squeezing it out of a packet! Now I know why it’s one of their iconic skincare products!
