Dr. Scholl’s For Her High Heel Insoles

A few weeks ago, I was sent a pair of Dr. Scholl’s For Her High Heel Insoles to try out. I haven’t been wearing real high heels lately, so it’s taken me a while to take these babies for a test run.

I decided to do a “torture test” experiment with the insoles. A few years ago, I found a pair of Betsey Johnson strappy sandals with jewels and Betsey Johnson signature pink roses on the soles of the shoes as well as on the inner lining. Did I mention that they had 4 inch heels?

What was I thinking? I guess I was thinking: they’re gorgeous, they’re girly, they’re just my style, and they’re on sale. I guess I used magical thinking that I would actually be able to walk in them! I wore them once to the theater in Gloucester with a black lace dress. They looked great. I could hardly wait for the evening to be over. So the shoes have sat in their box in my closet ever since.

I decided to try the insoles in these heels. If they work here, they will work for any high heels.

So, the insoles are very easy to use. Just take them out of the pack, remove the thin lining that protects the sticky part, insert them into your shoes, and go.

The insoles themselves are very comfortable. They’re made of a gel plastic, and they’re very squishy in a good way. They don’t take up much room inside the shoes…though these shoes are essentially sandals. Also, because they’re clear and thin, they don’t show from the side at all, even in sandals.

Here’s what the Dr. Scholl’s For Her website says about the insoles:

  • Helps prevent foot pain caused by high heels
  • Proven to improve the way you feel in heels
  • Unique ultra-soft FabuSTEP® gel arch shifts pressure off your ball of foot
  • Immediate and all day comfort
  • Stays firmly in place
  • Removable without damage to shoes
  • Slim design won’t make shoes feel tight
  • Practically invisible, even in strappy heels

Do they work? Yes, they definitely make these killer shoes more comfortable. Yet, I am realistic that they can’t make it easier for me to actually walk in these 4 inch heels that are just too high for me. But they do make it more comfortable to walk, especially on the balls of my feet that used to feel like they were burning. Not so now. Instead, I am able to wear these gorgeous shoes (though I still will not wear them if I have to do lots and lots of walking).  The Betsey Johnsons no longer have to spend the rest of their lives in the shoebox.

On a more practical level, my plan is to put the insoles in some lower heels, say 2 1/2 to 3 inches, that I wear when I spend a lot of time on my feet. I think these are a great invention, and I plan to buy another pair. They cost less than $8 a pair at Target and Wal-Mart, and I think they are worth it. I found a coupon on the Dr. Scholl’s For Her website for $2 off any Dr. Scholl’s For Her purchase, yay! And they have other products in the collection, such as  Ball of Foot cushions, and insoles for flats among others.

So, if you spend a lot of time on your feet in high heels, or if like me you have a pair of beloved heels that have been relegated to the shoebox because they’re uncomfortable to walk in, check out Dr. Scholl’s For Her High Heel Insoles. They are definitely worth a try!
