Although I had hoped that we were done with snow this winter (we didn’t have a lot thankfully), I knew that would be too good to be true. It started snowing at about 1a.m. this morning and it has continued snowing lightly throughout the day. We got about 4 inches so far, and thank goodness, it is light powdery snow. Somewhat surprisingly, my plow guy didn’t show up, so I had to go out and shovel my big driveway and 75+ foot walkway. It took two and a half hours. I wish it would stop snowing, because I don’t want to have to go out again later.

While shoveling wasn’t too bad today, my lower back is still sore. And I have had a headache for a couple of days that I keep forgetting to do something about. Enter Elixicure.

Elixicure is a natural, plant-based pain relief brand that uses CBD oil and organically derived essential oils to treat the pain of headache, sore muscles and joints, strains, bruises, arthritis, sciatica, menstrual cramps, and more. I had never used any products that were made with any hemp of any kind, so I was curious to try it since there’s been so much talk about hemp and CBD Oil lately.

Background  on  Hemp Oil, CBD Oil and Marijuana/THC

I think hemp oil, CBD Oil, and marijuana are a little confusing, so here’s a little background on the how they are similar and different from each other.

Hemp Oil is derived from Industrial Hemp which is one strain of the Cannibas Sativa plant. Industrial hemp has higher levels of Cannabidiols (CBD) and low levels of tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, the psychoactive component in marijuana. Industrial hemp was legalized for cultivation throughout the U.S. by the Farm Bill Act of 2014, and that’s where most Hemp Oil and CBD Oil come from. Hemp Oil comes from the plant seed of the Cannibas Sativa plant. Hemp Oil’s production is regulated, and it is tested for THC and CBD to make sure that it does not contain either substance. Hemp Oil is considered a superfood because of the high levels of omegas, vitamins and other nutrients. Thus, it is considered good for hair and skin as well as for treating pain and stress, troubling sleeping and a host of other things.

From what I’ve read, it appears that CBD Oil, also called Hemp Extract, is stronger than Hemp Oil because it contain Cannabinoids and phytonutrients. Hemp Extract/CBD Oil’s production is also regulated and tested to be sure it doesn’t contain THC. Like Hemp Oil, it is a pain-reliever but of a higher order.

Marijuana, on the other hand, comes from a different strain of the Cannabis Sativa plant and contains high levels of psychoactive THC.

Elixicure

Back to Elixicure. There seem to be lots of new brands with Hemp Oil and/or CBD Oil on the market now. And they are usually new brand names, so it’s good to learn something about the brand or company making the products.

Elixicure was started by two brothers, Eyal and Yaniv Kotler, because they saw a need for natural, organic over the counter pain relief products that were carefully and well-made with the best ingredients. Elixure’s hemp is grown on Ananda Hemp’s 500 acre government-approved farm in Kentucky. The Kotler brothers assert control over all aspects of the process from seed to shelf to ensure that their hemp is federally-compliant, and the products are of the highest quality natural and certified organic ingredients.

Elixicure products use Hemp Extract/CBD Oil in their formulas. The products are vegan, paraben-free, and are made with non-GMO natural and organic ingredients. They are handcrafted, and they are cruelty-free. They also have handy expiration dates on the bottom of the bottles and boxes.

Elixicure Pain Relief Roll-On

The Pain Relief Roll-On contains Hemp Extract/CBD Oil along with 90% certified organic ingredients. It is formulated with ingredients that block pain receptors. It contains salicylic acids and provide deep penetrating aspirin-like relief. I have found that using the roll-on on my temples and on the back of my neck will either ease or totally get rid of tension and eye strain headaches that I get from time to time.

Pain Relief Roll-On also contains the following key ingredients:

  • Hemp Extract: It contains 100 mg of active CBD/Cannabinoids: anti-inflammatory and pain relieving
  • Camphor Oil: an ancient ingredient used to treat swelling, sprains and inflammation; antimicrobial with some local anesthetic properties
  • Wintergreen Essential Oil: used in liniments for years to treat muscle and join pain; helps treat headache
  • Willowbark Extract: temporary pain relief
  • Menthol: natural analgesic, temporary cooling, triggers vasodilation (makes arteries relax) so that blood flowers to the painful area.

Elixicure Pain Relief Roll-On has a cooling metal ball at the top so it enhances the cooling sensation of the key ingredients. As I mentioned, it feels good as I roll it on my temples. Sometimes, I’ll use the roll-on on my back because it’s easier to apply.

It comes in Original and Lavender scent. I have the Original, and the wintergreen/menthol scent is very apparent. Actually, when I roll it on my temples, it makes me take a deep, relaxing breath immediately. I actually really enjoy the scent, though after a couple of minutes, it dissipates.

Pain Relief Roll-On gives me a cooling sensation that lasts for a little while, and gives me several hours of pain relief. As I mentioned above, it often completely gets rid of my headache without me having to take aspirin or acetaminophen.

Exlicure Pain Relief Roll-On comes in a 1 oz./30 ml container and is priced at $30.

The Pain Relief Cream appears to be very similar to the Pain Relief Roll-On but in a larger size and a creamy, skin soothing formula.

Like Pain Relief Roll-On, the cream contains:

  • Hemp Extract/CBD Oil: It contains 100 mg of active CBD/Cannabinoids: anti-inflammatory and pain relieving
  • Menthol: natural analgesic, temporary cooling, triggers vasodilation (makes arteries relax) so that blood flowers to the painful area
  • Salicylic acids: analgesic

Additional ingredients include:

  • Organic coconut oil: antiviral and anti fungal benefits, soothes sunburn and psoriasis
  • Organic Shea Butter: anti-inflammatory, emollient/hydrating with humectant properties
  • Organic Sunflower Oil: moisturizing, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and skin protection

It too comes in Original and Lavender scent. I have the Lavender cream, and it definitely smells like lavender with a slight undertone of wintergreen and menthol that I find appealing. The scent dissipates after a few minutes.

The Pain Relief Cream gives me a warming sensation that lasts for about 10 minutes, and pain relief that lasts for a few hours.

Final Thoughts

I am pleased with both products I’ve tried from Elixicure. It helps my headaches go away, and it relieves pain from over exertion for several hours. I would say that I find it more effective than the OTC pain relief creams and gels without Hemp Extract/CBD Oil that I have been using for years. It also is not irritating to my skin like the traditional topical pain relievers sometimes are for me. I’m glad that I got the opportunity to try Elixicure Pain Relief products right at snow shoveling season. They have been a boon to me!

Elixicure Pain Relief products are sold on the Elixicure website. It is also popular among athletes and is sold in larger 8 oz. sizes.

  1. I’m always so curious if CBD oil would help arthritis pain but it’s hard to know where to start. These sounds like they might be the place. If they work better than other otc that we’ve all used for years like you said, I’d like to try them.

    1. For me, Shelley, Elixicure with CBD Oil has been more effective than traditional topical analgesics that I’ve used.

  2. I think my accident-prone self needs a bit of this in the medicine cabinet. I’d have to get the lavender one. I love lavender anyway, I like camphor (yep I know I’m weird there) and I don’t mind menthol. It’s that wintergreen that I detest. If the lavender helps make that more palatable then I’m all for it.
I noticed the containers are pretty small- I take it you don’t need to/aren’t supposed to use very much at once?

    1. The Original scent of Elixicure definitely smells like a combination of wintergreen, camphor and menthol, but the Lavender does a pretty good job of masking those minty scents. I have only had these for about a month, and I only use them when I have sore muscles after shoveling or yesterday after snowshoeing for a long session the first time this season. The roll-on I use more often for tension headaches, and it feels good and helps get rid of them. They are kind of pricey for the size, but I am pretty sure that when I went to the website, a coupon code for a discount popped up. The cream seems to spread quite well so I’m not using a ton of it at a time. I have a feeling that the more CBD Oil products come on the market, the more the price will go down. Nevertheless, I am impressed by the quality of the products and the fact that they’re natural, organic ingredients, CF and Leaping Bunny Certified. The folks at Elixicure don’t seem to be cutting corners.

  3. So happy to hear you’ce found relief via a CBD product. it took a little bit of trial and error for me finding one with the right dosages for me to feel a difference. The cool roller ball sounds nice.

    1. I just used the Elixicure Roll-On on the back of my neck and temples to get rid of an eyestrain headache. I find both the cream and roll-on more effective than traditional analgesics. This is the first CBD Oil product I’ve tried, and I don’t really know what the strength or percentage is in these products, but they seem to work for me.

  4. I haven’t used a product with this oil in it, but I’m glad it worked for you. This market seems to have really blown up!

  5. Kathryne says:

There’s a lot of products now that have CBD. Good that you noted the difference because it really is confusing to ordinary consumers

    1. It was confusing to me, Kathryne! I thought the products contained hemp oil, but it is the strong hemp extract/CBD oil. And now I know that hemp extract and CBD oil are the same thing, I think, based on what I read. At any rate, these provide very good and fairly long temporary relief from muscle soreness and headache.

  6. Both my husband and I would benefit from this. He always takes on more than he should and pays for it with pain for the next few days. With constantly changing weather my arthritis acts up. Muscle soreness is real.

    1. I was skeptical about the effects of CBD Oil, Marcia, but I get better results from Elixicure than I do the traditional topical analgesics that I own. Elixicure seems to be longer lasting. I also like the roll-on for headaches.

  7. I wonder if this would help my sore neck and shoulders?

    1. While these topical analgesics from Elixicure don’t heal muscle pain, I have found that they are more effective for me than traditional topical analgesics like Icy Hot etc. I’m thinking that the CBD Oil may really be doing something. I find Elixicure longer lasting than the regular topicals.

  8. Jen Walker says:

I haven’t tried anything like these, but since I’ve gotten really hard into running lately, my sore muscles might benefit from one of these!

    1. As a runner for many decades, I was amazed at how much better the Elixicure Pain Relief products with CBD Oil are than the traditional topical analgesics that I used to use.

  9. The pain relief sounds so good!

  10. I need these products for sure! Keep us posted if they continue to work.

  11. ehmkay nails says:

Sounds like an excellent alternative for pain relief!

    1. I’m impressed with Elixicure. The essential oils, CBD oil and traditional ingredients like menthol and camphor have been doing the trick for me!

  12. 25 Sweetpeas says:

Effectively helps headaches, sounds like a GOOD thing!

  13. I haven’t tried any CBD products yet, but these sound like really great options for pain relief.

    1. Elixicure Pain Relief is my first experience with CBD oil, and with all the snow shoveling I’ve been doing, the products arrived at just the right time. There seems to be something extra that the traditional topical analgesics just don’t have, so I’m thinking that maybe the CBD oil really does do something

  14. I have used CBD Oil for my insomnia and I really felt the differences after that. And I have heard from so many people that it is helping for pain relief. And I am planning to buy elixicure for my mom for her back pain. Hope it will work. Thanks for the post!

    1. I’m not familiar with your brand, Willie, but I’m just getting started with CBD products. Good luck

  15. Diana says:

Hello I would like to know how to purchase the Elixicure Pain Relief roll on. Thank you
