For those of you who know me, I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I love Lilly Pulitzer. I have pants, shorts, dresses, skirts, and tops in Pulitzer fabrics from the 1990s-2000s. Wish I had some of the vintage patterns! Gotta hit the consignment shops, I guess. The brightly colored fabrics, both new and old, definitely say summer to me. And with the snowstorm last Friday, I need a little Lilly to bring in the sunshine.
So I was understandably excited when I heard that the brands started by New York and Palm Beach style icons, Estée Lauder and Lilly Pulitzer, teamed up to offer different “gift with purchase” makeup bags, offered at different times, at different U.S. department stores. Smart idea to help drive cosmetics purchasers to the department stores for a change! Each makeup bag is a different style and shape in a different Lilly Pulitzer print from the past. The key here is DIFFERENT (though many of the Estée Lauder product samples are the same). If you’re a real Lilly lover, it’s the perfect opportunity to collect all the different styles and fabrics.
You must make a purchase of either $35 or $45 or more, depending on the store, to qualify for the gift. Each store’s promotion runs for about a month.
The promotion began at Lord & Taylor at the end of December 2012 and ran into January. The featured print was Summer Nights, and the gift for a $45+ purchase included samples of:

In January-February, the online business of Estée Lauder (at the Estée Lauder website) offered its own gift bag in the Luscious pattern that was developed as part of the 50th anniversary Jubilee collection. I love the traditional Lilly pink & green combo, and I’m sorry I missed it. With a $45+ purchase, the Luscious gift bag included:

I bought a full size version of the mascara sample in the gift (Sumptuous Bold Lifting Mascara in black), but I bought it in brown for $22 and Pure Color Lip Gloss in Brazen Berry for $23 (product reviews at a future date). I think the makeup bag is so cute! It’s a snapdragon pattern from 2003.

A number of the promotions at the retailers above include the opportunity to get even more samples and an additional (smaller) makeup bag in the same print by spending $70+.
Remember, if you really gotta have one of the makeup bags but the retailer isn’t in your area, you can always buy it at the store’s website! If you missed out on any of the promotions, or if you just want the makeup bag and samples without making a product purchase, I saw a number of them on eBay recently for around $27-$39 depending on the number of samples in the gift.
