Estelle Pastel Coupe Martini Glasses

Though the holidays and major entertaining may be over for a few months, it’s always a good time to talk about beautiful entertaining accessories. For me, attractive glassware is one way to liven things up!

Estelle Colored Glassware

A few months ago, I introduced you to the colored glassware brand, Estelle Colored Glass (here), started by African-American entrepreneur Stephanie Summerson from Charleston who named her business after her inspiration, her grandmother Estelle.

In 2022 or was it in 2021 (?), I bought four modern wineglasses from the Wine Stemware collection on Estelle during a rare sale. I settled on two Forest Green and two Coral Peach Pink wine glasses to coordinate with my open plan kitchen and family room that are salmon and green, respectively. They are lightweight, tall, contemporary, and elegant.

New Estelle Martini Coupes

Because I made an Estelle purchase last year, I’m on their e-mailing list that keeps me up to date on new products, promotions and news about the brand. In one of the emails I received during the summer, I saw that Estelle introduced martini coupes. The rounded shape was elegant, different and very appealing.

New Iridescent Martini Coupes

In another email weeks later, Estelle announced that new iridescent glassware was going to be introduced in the not too distant future. I love iridescent everything, and I have a few iridescent small coupe glasses that I think were from the 1960s. I also have a pink iridescent glass cocktail shaker that I was given as a gift that’s very pretty! It was difficult to really see what the Estelle iridescent glass was going to look like, but I thought it would look like the iridescent glassware that I already owned.

In the late summer or early autumn, Estelle had another 20% off sale, and I decided to go for it. I ordered a set of 6 martini coupes in the new iridescent shade. They arrived a couple of weeks later, beautifully and safely packaged, just like the wineglasses were.

I could hardly wait to take the glasses out of the presentation box. But then, disappointment.

This iridescence was different from either of my iridescent items that had an iridescent coating on the glass. Below is my small vintage iridescent coupe where you can see a shiny rainbow of colors in or on the glass.

The Estelle glassware looked as if the color was baked into the glass. Truth be told, it seemed to be a higher quality method of creating iridescence, if it worked.

However, the Estelle glasses didn’t look iridescent. To me, at best they looked multicolor, and at worst they looked almost brown.

The glasses had different pastel shades in different areas on the glass, but those pastel shades weren’t shiny or glowing the way iridescent glass usually is. I kept looking at them in different light conditions hoping to see the glow I was looking for. For several days, I kept that up!

Finally, I decided the martini coupes were too expensive for me not to be completely happy with them. I went onto the Estelle Colored Glass website and initiated an exchange. I think I called the company as well, and they approved the even exchange. I swapped the disappointing iridescent coupes for a set of pastel coupes.

Pastel Martini Coupes

The replacement glasses arrived in a couple of weeks. I’m so glad that I did the swap! The pastel mixed set of 6 contained one of each of the following shades: Blush Pink, Rose, Mint, Yellow, Cobalt Blue, and  Lavender. The pastel colors go well in my dining room as well as in the kitchen and family room.

Like the wineglasses, the martini coupes are tall (7.25″ x 4.25″), delicate, elegant, and have a huge capacity. Jeff will be thrilled to know that each glass holds 8.25 fl. oz.: that’s a big martini!

On sale, I paid about $160 for the set of 6 pastel martini coupes. In addition, you can buy a set of 6 of all one color. Or you can buy two at a time for $95.

Just curious: would you have kept the iridescent or swapped for the pastel?

Retail Info

In addition to the Estelle Colored Glass website, you can also buy Estelle glassware at Nordstrom, West Elm, Food52, and Room & Board, though I don’t think the other retailers carry all the collections and all of the colors. Plus the other retailers’ packaging just couldn’t be as fabulous and protective as Estelle’s.

I think Estelle Colored Glass would make a gorgeous wedding, anniversary or housewarming gift. In their Red, Blush Pink, Viva Magenta, or Lavender, the various types and collections of glasses or the cake stands would make gorgeous Valentine’s gifts.

  3. Absolutely worth the swap. These are just stunning while the others had no personality. They are going to enrich your serving. As my mom would say “use them in good health”
