Years ago, one of my college friends who was a real Francophile told me all about espadrilles, a snack cheese called La Vache Qui Rit (that we now know as The Laughing Cow), wine from Bordeaux, and Evian Mineral Water Facial Spray from the French Alps. I knew that the French drank water from bottles rather than from the tap as we did back then, but at the time, I was completely unaware of using mineral water as a facial spray to essentially bring the famous Evian Spa home. And I just discovered that Evian mineral water was initially used by doctors in France in 1962 on burn patients.
Duane Reade, my drugstore of choice when I lived in New York, began to carry mini-spray cans of Evian and I bought one. When I got my first job in advertising and I started to travel on business throughout the U.S. and internationally, I took along a mini-bottle of Evian Facial Spray. Air travel is like the desert for my skin. So the little bottle of Evian Facial Spray was and still is perfect for hydrating my face during long flights across country or to Europe or South America.

And I have learned that each one second spray releases several million micro-droplets of neutral pH mineral water to hydrate and freshen skin without making a mess.

You are right, Hannah, but I wouldn’t think of getting on a plane for a long trip without a mini-bottle that I have often found on sale for significantly less than the MSRP. And for dry skin from dry indoor heating, there’s nothing else like it 🙂

It has so many skincare uses. I’ve been a long time fan. Also, MUAs often use Evian Facial Spray to hydrate skin before makeup, on brushes for easier MU application. It’s a very useful product that’s a must for me on long plane trips and during dry winter indoor heat.

I’ve not used this, but from what I’ve heard, not only is the water good, but the misting mechanism itself is very well done, allowing for a light, even mist that doesn’t bead up on the makeup. Did you find that to be true? That’s one reason I don’t usually use my pump water refreshers over makeup (except the UD setting spray. That’s a great pump.)

I just re-found a mini spray of another brand, and I tried it to compare it to Evian. There is no comparison. Evian emits a micrfine spray that is not at all messy. The other brand sprays much larger drops that ran down my face, not good. Yay, Evian!
I love Evian mineral water but I’ve never tried their thermal spray, just the Vichy one. The French know their facial sprays and mineral water the best!

I don’t see the Vichy brand in stores here very often. I have Avene thermal spray, but I definitely prefer the Evian Spray because it is a much finer spray with micro droplets, not at all messy like the Avene spray

Mmm… Sounds nice. I usually buy rosewater at the health food store to use as a face mist, as I love the scent. I like to put it in the fridge in the Summer to cool and refresh my face when it’s boiling hot. 🙂

Does your rosewater come in a spray bottle, Erika? Mine comes in regular bottles and I never thought about decanting my rosewater into a spray. My only issue, and the reason why I love the Evian Facial Spray in particular, is the fineness of the spray – it literally is micro droplets that are not the least bit messy. I had another brand of mineral water spray before I got this, and the spray was too wet and dripped down my face. But you can’t beat rosewater for the scent.
I love to apply face oil right before and right after flights, but maybe I’ll give this a go on one of my next trips.

Kristin, oil is a great idea. Maybe spray the water on first, then apply the oil and during a long flight you can respray over the oil, I think.

I haven’t tried the Vichy spray, Agata. However, the mist is much finer with the Evian Spray than with the Avene mini that I had before so for me, Evian is much less, actually not at all, messy
My skin is extremely dry so I also spray it with rose water when I don’t have on makeup.
I love rosewater too, but the rosewater I have doesn’t come in a spray bottle. Altho’ I could put it in a spray bottle, I am funny about spraying stuff on my face. What I like about the Evian Spray compared to other brands is that it’s a microfine spray that isn’t messy. And it’s great for spraying over mineral makeup so its isn’t so dry.
