Fairy Princess Nails with Ciate Double Bubblegum & China Glaze Fairy Dust Nail Polish

Today, I got my first compliment on my nails in ages. The nurse at my doctor’s office told me she loved my mani. Yes! And she thought I had my nails done professionally. Woohoo!

Last night, I did my nails while watching the State of the Union address. I was in the mood for periwinkle, so I dug out the mini bottle of Double Bubblegum from Ciaté that I got in an introductory box from LuxePineapple. That box was a real steal: $7 delivered! I got the mini nail polish, about 3 skincare samples, a beautiful navy blue gel liner from Laura Geller, and something else that I can’t remember. If you haven’t checked out LuxePineapple, you should. They have individual boxes that you can buy as well as individual products under their own brand name. The prices for the boxes are generally pretty great.

Back to my nails. The periwinkle cream nail polish from Ciaté is so much prettier than grape Double Bubblegum. But I thought I’d take it up a notch with Fairy Dust from China Glaze, a topcoat with tiny, holographic glitter. I learned about Fairy Dust from the funniest post I think I’ve ever read, a post on The Mercurial Magpie. In spite of or maybe because of a few cuss words, I almost died laughing. Needless to say, I bought it immediately. But now I love Fairy Dust even more than when I originally reviewed it. On its own, it’s meh, but on top of another shade, it is magic!

I used Seche Vite Ridge Filling Base Coat underneath and both Barielle No Chip Speed Dry and Seche Vite Dry Fast for glossiness as topcoats.

So here are my pretty Fairy Princess nails. I love ’em!

    1. I don’t think the brand matters at all. It’s just the sparkly effect!

  4. Love the Ciate periwinkle . so pretty. I also love the fairy dust, but I’m trying not to wear glitters as they are so hard to remove. The ‘foil’ method works the best of course, but ugh .. I’m lazy 😉

    1. China Glaze Fairy Dust is definitely glitter, but instead of my Zoya Polish Remover and a cotton pad, I use the CVS Advanced Nail Polish Remover in the jar with the sponge thing inside, stick my fingers in a couple at a time, wait about a minute and rub them against the sponge and it comes right off. I definitely know what you mean about the difficulty of removing glitter, and I have abandoned some of my favorites because they’re too hard to get off, but this isn’t one of those.

  6. Your nails look great!! I will always struggle with my nails. The shape, them not breaking, polish not chipping. Sigh, I just keep them bare most of the time to avoid the frustration.

Very pretty! It reminds me of Cinderella.

    1. Yes, you’re right, Rachel! Especially in the photo, it looks quite blue like her gown. In person, it’s more periwinkle and the purple aspect comes out more.

  9. I love your mani look which I have already with Disney Cinderella nail polishes by Morgan Taylor!! I love that Ciate shade for the Pantone colors of Baby pink and blue!

    1. Someone else said the mani looked Cinderella-ish! This periwinkle shade actually has more purple in it than Cinderella’s blue gown and than Serenity, but in the photo it definitely looks like the Pantone shade 🙂

  12. Fairy Dust ALL the things! lol! Beautiful mani. I’ve tried a few of Luxe Pineapple’s products, and I like them! I wish I had seen that box, because I love Laura Geller’s eyeliners. Some of the few that don’t run on me!

    1. I agree, Nidia: Fairy Dust ALL THE THINGS, to quote Mercurial Magpie! I got the LuxePineapple intro box last March, I think, and it was a great deal. The Laura Geller eyeliner was actually a replacement for another pencil eyeliner that didn’t work. The owner of LP is so lovely. It seems that she’s moved more to her own makeup line rather than the boxes lately.

  13. What a lovely combo! I’d think this was professionally done, too. They are super neat!

I’m a nail polish collector (hoarder) and love The Mercurial Magpie. So sad that she isn’t blogging anymore. I miss her funny attitude and beautiful swatches. Anyway, these two shades are gorgeous together! LOVE – 🙂

    1. I agree, Natalie. Such a shame that The Mercurial Magpie is taking a break. She is a hoot! Do you have a bottle of Fairy Dust or something similar? Everyone needs some 🙂

  17. Everyone should own a bottle of Fairy Dust!
