Farm To Face: Amalie Beauty Anti-aging Rewind Face Oil

I love face oils especially at this time of year when the temperatures dip. And they finally dipped on Tuesday night north of Boston. We had our first freeze.

Several weeks ago, I received a relaunched and reformulated version of the popular Amalie Beauty anti-aging face oil: Rewind Face Oil, based on the idea of turning back the hands of time. And here’s what it promises:

  • Melanin-regulating
  • Skin brightening
  • Anti-aging
  • Antioxidant
  • Anti-inflammatory

Overall, skin is refreshed, renewed and also protected from environmental damage. You can learn more about the specifics on the Amalie Beauty Blog.

An important change in the Rewind formulation is the addition of plant-based squalene. Amalie replaced some of the jojoba oil with the more effective squalene that also functions like jojoba oil as a “carrier” for other key ingredients. But squalene is a real super-ingredient. Squalene, an Omega-2 fatty acid, has tons of skin benefits: it’s an anti-oxidant, immune stimulator, oxygen generator and fat/energy regulator that promotes cell growth, prevents UV damage, and is non-irritating. Importantly, it penetrates skin in an instant, at a rate of 2mm/second.

The relaunched Rewind Face Oil is now part of a new collection: Farm To Face that is “homegrown, handcrafted” with natural and organic ingredients. Rewind is made from herbs and flowers that are grown in Southern Indiana by the Amalie team. How cool is that? The first ingredient in the formulation is honeysuckle extract, an antioxidant free-radical fighter, and another key ingredient is oil from late season roses, Rosa Damascena that acts as an anti-inflammatory and protects skin from environmental damage. Plus, they both smell heavenly! In fact, the oil has a lovely light sweet herbal scent (it’s a honeysuckle scent!) when you open the bottle. But once it’s on my face, the scent disappears. Other natural powerhouse ingredients include spearmint and sage that are melanin regulators and antioxidants.

Here’s how Amalie explains it: “Honeysuckle, extracted in organic squalane and jojoba oils, offers gentle chemical exfoliation via natural BHA salicylic acid, while gently assuaging inflammation through the same naturally occurring acid. Thanks to squalane, anti-oxidant flavanoids and saponins penetrate deep into the skin, for powerful anti-aging properties. Organic pomegranate seed oil offers additional skin-brightening properties through its high vitamin C content. ”

When using Rewind Face Oil, I found that a little goes a long way. In fact, because I like the scent so much when it’s on my fingers, I often apply too much! If you don’t apply too much like I often do, it absorbs quickly. During the warm weather, I often found that I didn’t need to apply moisturizer at night after using Rewind. Now that it’s colder, I try to restrain myself, apply a little less Rewind and follow up with my anti-aging moisturizer. Rewind makes my skin feels so soft and hydrated.

The UV-protected dropper bottle contains 30 ml of luxurious, lightweight oil.

I’ve picked a good time to post my review of Amalie Beauty Rewind Face Oil. Amalie has lowered the price to $60 from $80, yay!, and right now Rewind is back in stock. But act fast if you want to try this lovely anti aging face oil. Remember, it’s handcrafted with ingredients grown by the folks at Amalie, so once the year’s crop of herbs and flowers is finished, that’s it for the season. According to Amalie’s blog, they had enough ingredients for 250 bottles this year. It’s worth it to join the Farm to Face Update List by submitting your email address to find out when the Farm To Face products will be in stock.

There are still lots of wonderful natural skincare products to shop from Amalie Beauty. And many of them have just had their prices reduced including one of my faves Shine Brightening Oil. If you haven’t tried my favorite lash and brow oil, Wink, you must!

Are you a fan of face oils like I am? Have you tried Amalie Beauty?

  8. Kathryne says:

I am intrigued as to what the company really meant with their plant-based squalene? Because squalenes are generally derived from shark liver oil. If it’s plant indeed, they should list accdg to the name of the plant

    1. Hi Kathryne! Thanks for checking. It’s Squalane, from Organic Olives, not Squalene from sharks. I didn’t realize we’d left that out on the box, but it is listed on the site as Squalane from organic olives: https://www.amaliebeauty.com/products/rewind

    2. Squalene is sourced from amaranth seed/oil, rice bran, wheat germ, or olives. In order to protect sharks, many companies are starting to source squalene from plants. How nice that Megan from Amalie gave you the answer!

  9. I love the sound of this! I have so many oils on the go right now, but I will have to remember this one if I ever finish a few off.
