Fashion Flash, Ulta’s Fall 21 Days of Beauty & Labor Day Sales

This Week’s Fashion Flash

Deb Chase, Fashion Flash’s founder, is hosting this week’s edition of Fashion Flash. Under Deb’s leadership, Fashion Flash has grown from several of us beauty bloggers to a multiple interest online magazine for women over 40. Beauty, health and wellness, exercise, travel, healthy eating and cooking, fashion, and design. And Deb is on the prowl for a women’s finance blogger to add to our lineup. I think Fashion Flash has become a seriously good read!

Here’s what’s on tap this week:

  • why you should avoid using vegetable oils in your cooking and what you should use instead
  • how and why to get organized
  • my Derma E skincare giveaway featuring a fab cleanser with turmeric and ancient rice
  • a simplified path to fitness over age 60
  • one of the very best tools for facial skincare
  • truffle hunting in Italy
  • using summer’s heat for free beauty
  • how to deal with the changes of menopause
  • tips for maintaining health and mobility in the second half of life
  • a treatment that will make your overwashed hands happy and healthy
  • three different versions of primers and setting sprays so there’s something for everyone.

So click over to Deb’s blog, NoNonsense Beauty, and check out this week’s Fashion Flash.

Ulta’s Fall 21 Days of Beauty

Though it’s technically still summer for another three weeks, thank goodness, what I think of as Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty started on Sunday and it goes through September 19.

Because of things being so screwed up with the USPs, I have been receiving almost no mail for the past month. Not surprisingly, I haven’t received my Ulta catalogue announcing their 21 Days of Beauty. Usually I post photos of the catalogue, but I can’t this time. I was going to try posting screenshots, but truth be told, I wasn’t up for it. Instead, I will post the link to Ulta 21 Days of Beauty.

I’ve been saying over and over that I have not been buying a lot of makeup or skincare this year. I have bought a few things, but not a lot. Today (meaning Monday as I write this post), I bought Beautyblender Blendercleanser since it was half off. I have an Ulta branded cleansing soap waiting in the wings after I finish up the Blendercleanser that’s almost done, but Blendercleanser is still my favorite.

There are a few things on sale during the 21 Days that I may be interested in. I will check out:

  • the products from companies started by women founders (Beauty Bakerie, Jane Iredale, Zoeva and others) on Sept. 9
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencils on Sept. 11
  • K-beauty brands including several I have wanted to try: Mamonde, Erborian, Peach & Lily, and COSR-X on Sept. 16
  • if I don’t have a tube of First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser in my stash, I will buy one on Sept. 17
  • IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Foundation SPF 50+, Original and Oil-free on Sept. 19

So, these are the products that interest me. Chances are what gets your attention will be different. So take a look here. While there are a number of the “usual suspects”, there are new offerings too. And don’t forget to use Rakuten. BTW, if you are Platinum or Diamond in Ulta’s frequent shopper program, delivery is free! Unfortunately, Ulta raised its floor for Platinum from $400 to $500. This year, I’m not even close and with only a few months left in the year, it is doubtful that I will be able to maintain my status (same for me with Sephora VIB), so I want to take advantage of the perks while I can. 🙂

Labor Day Sales

Because the beauty industry is having a tough year, there are sales everywhere and seemingly all the time. The exception may be indie brands that are just trying to stay afloat. But if it’s a big brand product you’re thinking about, check the price this week/weekend. So far, on Lookfantastic.com where there was 35% off last weekend, I bought a full size bottle of Molton Brown Orange & Bergamot Shower Gel since my absolute fave, the seasonal Muddled Plum, is not available. I am curious about Too Faced’s new Plump and Prime Face Primer that is makeup and serum in one, and I may give that a try if I can get a good discount. It is supposed to volumize the face and also show a more tightened, lifted jawline in 3 days. Intriguing.
