February 2016 Empties

February didn’t have a ton of products that I emptied, but enough to report on them. This month was a mix of old favorites and new products. Let’s see what’s worth repurchasing.

Rituals Zensation Organic Rice Milk & Cherry Blossom Foaming Shower Gel Sensation

I got this full size can of shower foam in the goody bag I got from Barney’s in September. It was my first experience with this brand and product, and I love it! The heavenly scent, the way it foamed up when water hits it, and the way it leaves my skin feeling moisturized and smooth make this product a winner for me. Repurchase? Yes!

John Frieda 3 Days Straight Semi-Permanent Styling Spray

I’ve been using 3 Days Straight for at least 5 years now, and it’s been my favorite. I recently discovered It’s A 10 Leave-In Conditioning Spray that does the same thing and more so I’m torn! Repurchase? I still like 3 Days Straight, and I already have another bottle waiting in the wings, but I’ve been straying and using It’s A 10 instead  🙄

Nail Butter

I love Nail Butter because it definitely has made a difference in the health of my nails and cuticles. Plus I love the lemongrass scent. Repurchase? I have a new jar on hand.

MyChelle Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser

I love love love the pumpkin scent, the creamy feel of this cleanser, and the way it leaves my skin feeling hydrated. I got it in late September, and it’s been perfect for winter use. Repurchase? Right now, I’m drowning in new cleansers to try out for review. But I’ll repurchase it next winter. I can’t recommend this cleanser more highly for dry skin!

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Shampoo

Before Christmas, I bought a travel size tube of Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Shampoo to go along with the treatment products and conditioner that I already had from Living Proof. I wasn’t sure if I should go with PHD Shampoo or the Restore Shampoo that went with the conditioner and repair product I own. I ended up buying a full-size of the Restore Shampoo, but I think I like the PHD Shampoo better. Repurchase? I wish I had bought the Perfect Hair Day Shampoo in full size instead of the Restore Shampoo, but right now I own so much shampoo, I can’t justify buying another. If/when I ever use up the shampoo I’ve got, I’ll buy PHD Shampoo. I liked it a lot. It made my hair feel clean but not stripped, and it seemed to stay cleaner longer than my hair does after using the LP Restore Shampoo. $22 full size, $12 travel size

Lumene Time Freeze CC Anti-age Color Correcting Cream SPF 20, Light

I believe this is the third tube of Lumene Time Freeze CC Cream I’ve finished up over the past couple of years. I love this CC cream. Light is a perfect color match for me. It is easy to apply and long-lasting. I gives me medium to full coverage. I love this stuff! I originally bought it at CVS, but recently I’ve found it at Ocean State Job Lot at half price from the CVS price, yes! Repurchase? Yes, I bought it last week at Ocean State.

Moroccanoil Body Souffle

I got a travel size tub of Moroccanoil Body Soufflé. I had always been curious about this brand. They sell the haircare products at Vidal Sassoon where I get my hair cut and colored. The scent of Moroccanoil Body Souffle was incredible: floral but earthy, nutty, deep, a scent-lover’s scent, hard to describe. I love how it hydrated my skin. Repurchase? I’m preparing what I’m going to buy in order to qualify for the goody bag at Barney’s NY next week, and this is going on the list. Love it!

Eve Lom Age Defying Smoothing Treatment

I received a sample packet of Eve Lom Age Defying Smoothing Treatment in my Barney’s bag. The Smoothing Treatment contained individual plastic ampules of serum. I received enough for at least a week. I liked them a lot. Repurchase? I have so much skincare including serums, I just can’t justify buying more though I’d love to have more of these. $150

IT Cosmetics Confidence In A Cream

I got a sample packet of IT Cosmetics Confidence In A Cream, the brand new IT Cosmetics anti-aging moisturizer, along with the IT Cosmetics You Are Beautiful Collection that I bought on QVC in January. I got about 4 uses from this packet too, and it’s a rich, fragrance-free cream that dries down to a smooth finish. I like it. I hope I can get another sample of this to try it longer. Repurchase? Not at this time (see above comment).

So I discovered some great new products among my empties this month. Did you use up anything in February?

    1. I really liked the new IT cream. If I weren’t so loaded with skincare products to use for review, I’d go for it. It kind of reminds me of the StriVectin Multi-Purpose Cream.

  4. MyChelle Creamy Pumpkin Cleanser sounds like an amazing product!

    1. I really love it, Leelo! The pumpkin scent and the creamy consistency are just great

    1. I’m almost finished with my small size Hourglass Veil Primer, so I know at least that’ll be in my March post!

  6. I have that Rituals shower gel but haven’t opened it yet because Molton Brown. It sounds like an amazing product, so I’m going to try it out once I finish whatever is in my shower right now. How would you rate it against Molton Brown?
Renu recently posted…Beauty Products Emptied in February 2016My Profile

    1. Completely different than Moulton Brown. I like them both equally. This is a liquigel that foams up when water hits it. It leaves my skin with a smooth hydrated feeling. The Cherry Blossom scent is heavenly. I still love MB Ylang Ylang but I use them when I’m in different moods. Right now, I have 7 different shower gels/creams in my shower!

You are so good about using everything up. I’m trying to get my skin care samples and beauty box items used up. I don’t have any empties this month, but I hit pan or equivalent on my Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation and Shadow Insurance, Previse face cream, and a travel sized Urban Decay Primer Potion.

    1. I would say you’ve done extremely well this month! Such a feeling of accomplishment, right? Glad to read on FB that your son is making some progress toward getting better

      1. Rachel R. says:

Thank you, Allison. It’s such a relief that he’s improving.

        1. I’ll bet! I hope he continues along this road toward health

  8. I wish I liked the PHD line, it smells beautiful, but it fails to impress me every time I give it a try 🙁

    1. Everyone’s hair responds to different formulations. For me, the Restore conditioner and Instant Repair coupled with the PHD Shampoo work wonders from my thick, coarse, dry, color-treated hair. But swapping the PHD Shampoo for the Restore shampoo makes my hair get dirty a couple of days sooner. From what I can tell, it’s trial and error with all haircare products.

  9. Nice bag!
Cindy (Prime Beauty) recently posted…New! The Je Ne Sais Quoi of IT CosmeticsMy Profile

    1. What bag??

  10. LOVE the Rituals foaming shower gel. The It’s a 10 product you mentioned, does it keep your hair straight like the John Frieda and protect from heat? I also use the JF 3-day straight.

    1. Yes, It’s A 10 Leave-In Conditioner has a slew of benefits: makes my hair very soft, offers heat protection, keeps my hair straight for several days, and it may offer UV protection too. I still like 3 Day Straight but It’s A 10 seems to have additional benefits.

  11. So many great empties! I’ve been really into the Moroccanoil body products too, they smell so great! Their hand cream is one of my favourites.
Bailey recently posted…Maybelline Brow Drama Pomade CrayonsMy Profile

    1. I’m going to pick up some more at the Barney’s NY beauty event, but I wish I knew which scent I had because I love it! I’ll have to look at the hand cream while I’m at it.

  12. I’m obsessed with Rituals foaming body washes, they’re so unique and work really well. And the fragrance lasts on the skin!

    1. I’m going to try a new scent in addition to repurchasing Cherry Blossom. Any recommendations?

  13. I was just thinking about that Barneys bag today! I loved the first one so much, I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in this year’s bag. I’m also curious about that IC Confidence in a cream, and need to score a sample of that.

    1. Lola Seicento has the new bag and its contents on her blog yesterday and today. Definitely take a look. I don’t think it’s quite as good as the September bag. There are a few produce I need/want to Barney’s, though they don’t add up to $200. I’m trying to decide whether to go for it or pass. What are you thinking about buying if you go for it? I was hoping to buy some Tom Ford makeup, but Barney’s doesn’t carry it 🙁

  14. LOVE Nail Butter! I’m hoping for some new, maybe fruity, scents though!

    1. Have you heard any news about new scents, Babi? Fortunately, I love lemongrass but some new scents might be nice!

    2. Is nail butter greasy or oily by any chance? I’m looking for a very light moisturizer

      1. Yes, it is greasy but very effective

  15. The MyChelle pumpkin scent is divine .. I’ve never tried the cleanser, but like you .. sort or swimming in cleansers right now … so trying this will have to wait.
