Friday Find: Lipstick Queen Vesuvius Liquid Lips in Candy

A couple of months ago, I qualified for a beauty goody bag after I made a substantial beauty/fragrance purchase at Barney’s. I got a ton of great beauty products in the bag, and I’ve been making my way through them all.

One of my purchases was a Lipstick Queen Endless Summer lipstick in Aloha, a translucent red. It was my first Lipstick Queen purchase, and I love it. It’s a great everyday red. Very hydrating. Not an in your face red. I wear it often.

In the goody bag, I found a full size Lipstick Queen Vesuvius Liquid Lips. What a surprise! Two Lipstick Queen lipsticks! I loved the bold look of the packaging; black block letters on hot pink.

Vesuvius Liquid Lips is a long slim pen and it has a brush applicator like my favorite Milani Power Lips that’s been discontinued, much to my chagrin. I find the brush applicator very easy to use.

And the color, Candy, a medium pink shade, is very similar to the Milani Power Lips Macaron that I loved.

I’m relieved that Liquid Lips isn’t a matte as many liquid lipsticks now tend to be. Mattes don’t go with my dry lips. Fortunately, it’s a very glossy cream. So hydrating, not sticky, so lovely to wear.

Poppy King, the creator of Lipstick Queen says:

“Glamour is about to get volcanic with these high-gloss liquid lipsticks.”

Here’s how Lipstick Queen website describes it:

“The intense formula features rich, high-impact pigment that protects and nourishes your lips while giving you a color explosion.”

It has no taste or fragrance. It’s not a long-wearing lipstick, but that’s fine with me. If I want it to last longer, I’ll apply it over Too Faced Lip Insurance. Or I’ll just put on some more with no problem.

Lipstick Queen Vesuvius Liquid Lips comes in 5 other shades in addition to Candy: Bare, Peach, Coral, Fuchsia, Red. The pen contains 0.08 oz/2.4 ml. It’s sold at Barney’s, Nordstrom, Net a Porter, and on the Lipstick Queen website, and it’s priced at $24. Made in Germany.

Have you tried Lipstick Queen? Which is your favorite Lipstick Queen lipstick?

I’ve never tried Lipstick Queen, because they’re kind of pricey. The shades you got are beautiful, though.

    1. Thank you, Rachel. I needed to buy something else at Barney’s to reach a threshold to quality for the bag of goodies so the Lipstick Queen lipstick (I think it was $22) that I had been eager to try got me over the hurdle. Well worth it! The brand has other more expensive lipsticks in gorgeous packaging that I haven’t tried yet.

      1. Rachel R. says:

$22 actually isn’t bad. I always see their stuff that’s $30-50 those are a bit high for me.

        1. I thought the same, Rachel. I’d love one of those pricey gorgeous retro lipsticks but I’m glad I found these affordable lines.

    1. TF Lip Insurance helps just about all my lipsticks stay on longer. I don’t wear it all the time because it tends to be a little drying on my already dry lips but it does help with longevity

  14. I love that color. I have a Lipstick Queen lipgloss sitting on my desk to remind me to write about it.

      1. Yes, that is the one – the square gold tube… they are some of the most beautiful feeling lipsticks every. Black Tie is my favorite.

        1. Thank you, Honey, for the info. I will take a look at Black Tie. I need to reopen my Nordstrom charge card and then think about that for the next Nordie’s sale.

  18. See, I am the opposite of you. I like my mattes to be matte. I certainly don’t want drying by any means, but I don’t want glossy. I want that flat finish. I think it’s because I am such a matte lover. I prefer matte finish to glossy in anything, though. It’s just my eye, I think. Lol!

    1. That’s good, Brigitte. Matte kills my dry lips and makes my lips look worse. Hopefully, the makeup manufacturers will continue to offer both mattes and creams. Colourpop, however, has loaded their current lineup with so many mattes, they don’t have anything for me. Hopefully, they add a couple 😉

  19. I haven’t tried this brand before but I like both colors.

    1. Thank you, Me too – great everyday lippies!

  20. I still haven’t tried this brand, but I love this colour! A perfect everyday pink.

  21. I love the name of the line, even though Mt Vesuvius’ historic eruption was quite a terrifying event. Both lipsticks look gorgeous on you and I love Lipstick Queen

    1. I climbed Mt Vesuvius, or should I say walked up it several years ago. And I could see the molten lava in the top. Fascinating! Yes, great name for a lipstick line 😉

  22. It has been forever since I have had anything from Lipstick Queen!

    1. Hope LQ comes your way again soon. Such a nice lipstick brand!

  23. I like the shade Candy, it is very pretty on you.
