Last week I went into Boston for my monthly hair appointment at Vidal Sassoon. I was on the hunt for another Disney Villains makeup bag, and after coming up empty at the Walgreens on Boylston Street, I called the big Walgreen’s in Downtown Crossing on Washington Street and they had one Ursula train case in stock. So I took a long walk on a beautiful day and scored the bag! (I am shocked by what people are charging for these bags on Amazon 😯 )
On my way to Walgreens, I discovered a brand new store in Downtown Crossing, a key mainstream shopping area in Boston that’s in the middle of trying to revitalize itself. Primark. Primark is a low-price fashion retailer from Ireland. How wonderful that they made Boston the location of their first store in the U.S.! I’m not that surprised since Boston has a strong Irish heritage, a large Irish population, and lots of folks from Ireland hop over to Boston to go shopping in the U.S.!
Located in the formerly empty historic Burnham building, the store seems gigantic: 4 floors of fashion in a store that takes up an entire block! The front of the old building is loaded with huge glass windows. Each floor is flooded with sunlight, so shopping indoors is a pleasurable experience. There are lots of cashiers on each floor so the lines move quickly and it’s easy to check out.
Primark carries women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, shoes and accessories. Some of the items are designed specifically for the U.S. market, while the majority is the same inventory as is sold in Europe. The fashion is up-to-date/contemporary. The prices are extremely low. The quality is decent for the very affordable prices. This is not clothing that’s meant to last, but that’s OK. The sale prices are really rock-bottom. I bought 3 pairs of full coverage medium rise/bikini underpants for myself that were marked down to $3 from $8. I wish I had known how well size medium would fit me because I would have bought several more sets at that price!
I also bought 5 pairs of black trouser socks for $2.50, marked down from $3.50!
Although I didn’t buy anything, the pajamas and loungewear were very cute and made of very soft fabric. The camisoles were priced at $1.50 and came in lots of different colors. The T-shirts were super-cheap and worth buying, but I have so many I passed.
I saw a couple of jersey dresses priced at $8 each that I considered, but I just don’t wear dresses very often. The fashion definitely is great for kids, families and for young people on a budget.
On one of the floors, I came across decorative things including Christmas decorations and wrapping paper. As you may have noticed, I love anything heart-shaped, and I collect hearts. I picked up a string of red hearts for $2.50. They’ll make a great decoration for blog photos for Valentine’s Day or anytime actually.
In the not too distant future, Primark is opening another store in the King of Prussia Mall outside of Philadelphia, so stay tuned! I don’t see a way to purchase from Primark US online, but if you live in the Boston area or are planning to visit anytime soon, be sure to stop in and check out the bargains!
Sounds like a really cool store for browsing and scoring good deals. 🙂
P.S. My tush has not fit into medium size panties in 20 years! I keep track of stuff like that to depress me. ha ha
You always make me smile, Laura! Definitely good bargains at Primark 🙂 Hope you’ve been doing OK this week
I’ve heard really great things about Primark! Wish we had some in Florida.

I guess if they do well in Boston & then in suburban Philly, they’ll continue to expand. Maybe it’ll get to FL yet! Some incredible bargains there!
I’m originally from England and Primark was one of my fave “cheap” stores lol. So glad to see them here now, I heard they’re coming to a few Sears stores also.
I first learned about Primark on some of the UK blogs I follow. But I had no idea they were coming to Boston. Hopefully the deal with Sears will materialize so they can get into more US markets quickly. I was truly amazed at how “cheap” some of the prices were: $1.50 for a cami? shocking!
I wish that I had a Primark here! What great deals!

Although these are inexpensive items, it’s fun sometimes to buy things that aren’t intended to last forever.
I love the train case! The Disney stuff at Walgreens is always perfect. It’s hard not to buy it all up!!

The prices they’re charging on Amazon and ebay for the Disney Villains makeup bags is insane. I wish I had bought the entire line when I saw them at Walgreens in San Antonio 3 weeks ago. I was lucky to find this one!
Oh wow, I did not know that Primark was expanding to North America! My first encounter with that store was when I lived in Dublin for a short stint. I bought quite a few articles of clothing – they’re so stylish and SUCH bargains! You got some amazing deals on staple items.
I sure did. As I wrote, I wish I bought more of those panties at a buck a piece! I definitely will stop in during my monthly trips to Boston. They will be expanding through the US during the next year. How lucky that you lived in Dublin! I’d love to go there!
I just watched a few YT videos from ladies who live in Boston and went shopping at Primark together hehe. I am jealous on so many levels 🙂

No kidding? I’ll have to find those videos, lol. It was fun to explore the new store, and the bargains are incredible – great for fun stuff or things you don’t want or need to invest in for the long-term 🙂
I love the Disney Villain bags!

They are cuties! The prices they are going for now on Amazon and ebay are insane! I should’ve bought the entire line when I saw them at Walgreens in San Antonio. Missed opportunity 😉
If they went nationwide, they would make a killing. Why am I not surprised that you brought home heart ornaments?

hahaha, you know me! I can resists the hearts! I think you’re right that they’d do very well if they expand across the US. Their prices are just so darn cheap!

While I often go for high quality and higher prices for stuff I really care about, Primark has got me sold on shopping there for staples and for fashion that I don’t expect to wear forever. What deals!
Interesting, I didn’t know Primark was in the US now! So lucky that you grabbed that last train case too, it’s soooo cute.

Primark’s new store in Boston just opened less than a month ago, and it’s the first one in the US. I hope they do well here! Yes, glad I found the train case. I was hoping for an Evil Queen, but those are long gone.
Yay! SO glad you found the bag!! <3 What a fun haul! 🙂

Me, too! I should’ve bought the whole Disney Villains line when I had the chance in San Antonio, but I had work on my mind rather than makeup bags, boo hoo
How neat! I would love to visit a Primark store some day, sounds like they carry lots of fun goodies.
Definitely fun stuff at rock-bottom prices!
I’ve yet to find the Disney at a Walgreens near me unfortunately. I think the art work this time is amazing.
The store is a great find. I’d buy those hearts in a second since I collect hearts too.

I think the Disney Villains bags were mostly gone the first week they came out! Yes, Primark is going to be a fun place to shop from time to time. I didn’t know you collected hearts too! Yay!
I’ve heard of this store from international vloggers! The price points are a steal, I’d love to shop in a store that massive lol

If was fun, Julie, especially since I had never been there before. I had heard about it from beauty bloggers from the UK and I always wondered what it was like. Primark carries private label makeup too, but I wasn’t so sure about the quality because there was no way to tell.
We have Ross and TJMaxx for budget shopping.

This is different from the Ross/TJ/Marshall’s model. It’s all private label.
This store sounds amazing. There are a few discount stores by me and some are ok while others not so much.

Lots of great finds 😀
I’ve read so many Primark hauls from Irish bloggers and am always so envious of the super cute and affordable things they find. This is really exciting that they’re starting to open stores in the U.S.! These heart shaped ornaments are right up my alley and quite beautiful. Great scores!
It seems that Primark is planning a major expansion through the US if the Boston store is a success. Hopefully they’ll get to your neck ‘o the woods in the not too distant future, Natalie. If you’re a heart-lover, you definitely would love the heart ornaments. They are a steal at $2.50!
I also can’t believe how much people charge for those bags on Amazon and e-bay…it’s kind of ridiculous! That store sounds like it has killer deals…those panties are adorable and they looks so comfy even in the photo!

Primark really does have beyond amazing deals. Not super-high quality, but super good prices. Definitely worth a visit next time you come to Boston. I’m sure you’d find things for your little girls 🙂
I hadn’t hear about Primark in the states, but it makes sense with so many big European stores/brand popping up. Those undies are super cute! (because that doesn’t sound weird :D)

Love Primark! When I lived in the UK, I liked getting lost in this store. So amazing you have it close by.
