Friday Find: Sonia Kashuk LE Color Crazed Makeup Brush Collection

This is literally a find with a capital F! A few weeks ago, I scored big time. I took advantage of a mistake on the Target website on a Sunday afternoon. They mistakenly advertised a sale on a limited edition set of Sonia Kashuk makeup brushes, the Color Crazed Collection of 10 brushes.

The Color Crazed Collection was priced at $37.99, but for some reason, it showed up on their website for $1 as a clearance item. Somehow I found out about it. I tried to order it online to pick up in a local store, but the order wouldn’t go through. I called the closest Target store, and they had the set in stock but said it was priced at $38. I called another Target store in the area, and they too had the set in stock. I asked to speak to the department manager who was very nice. She too said it was priced at $38. I told her I would email her a screenshot of website with the $1 price. She agreed to honor the sale price. It may have been a mistake, but I appreciate the fact that the manager didn’t give me the run around. I’ve had so many not-so-great situations with Target and limited editions that this helped make up for those bad customer experiences.

About a year ago, I bought the purple anniversary collection of Sonia Kashuk makeup brushes, and I have had very good luck with them. They’re soft enough. No shedding whatsoever. They look like they did on the day I bought them. For the modest price point, I think they’re good brushes.  I’m hoping I’ll have as good luck with this set.

The new Color Crazed Collection is smaller, 10 brushes instead of about 14, I think. Unfortunately, there is no slant kabuki brush which is my brush of choice for applying liquid foundation. Oh well. For $1, I have no complaints.

Each brush has synthetic bristles with a gold ferrule and a navy blue heavy plastic handle. They feel substantial. I like the teal brush color, and importantly, I can really use these extra brushes in my stash.

Have you tried Sonia Kashuk makeup brushes?

  11. Nataile Brown says:

Oh my goodness, the $1 price tag is just too awesome! I’m glad they honored it because I’ve had a couple of not so great customer service experiences with Target online. Their site certainly needs several upgrades/updates. Anyway, no, I haven’t tried any of these brushes. This set is so pretty and I’m excited to know that they’re a quality brand. 🙂

    1. I saw the deal online, Natalie. Someone on FB brought it to my attention. I tried to buy them online but I was unable to check out and I think the site said something like call a local store to see if they’re in stock. So I did that. The first Target blew me off, but the cosmetics manager at the second store honored the mistake, and I drove over to pick the set up. It was well worth the hassle. And I appreciated that she made good on the mistake, because Target has screwed up so many times in the past especially with limited editions like the Linda Mason line and of course, the Lilly Pulitzer fiasco. I think it was the least they could do. This is my second set of SK brushes and I think they are good quality for the price, usually between $37-40 a set. I haven’t had any shedding and the ferrule is sturdy on the handle. I like ’em!

  12. Rachel R. says:

Wow, great deal! Good on Target for honoring the price.

    1. I think so too, Rachel! I finally got a human being who wanted to be helpful at one of the local Targets. In the past, Target hasn’t been very helpful in solving problems or honoring their word regarding limited editions. So I didn’t feel guilty pressing the issue this time!

  13. Oh man what a great deal!!

  16. This is the deal of 2015 that’s for sure. I remember when the first SK brushes came out and how I scoured stores to get them. I still have them and they’ve held up beautifully.

  17. Woah, $1?! Talk about an epic deal!! That’s amazing! I can imagine the Targets in my area would never honor that, they aren’t that friendly 🙁

    1. I think I was lucky that I got a manager with a heart at the 2nd store I tried. A little goodwill goes a long way!

  18. Nice way to score a deal! I think that most stores will honor a mistaken price or correct a situation (except Zoya! – but that’s another story).

I have a couple of SK brushes with wood handles (probably when the brand was first launched) and I just purchased the SK No. 30 chisel brush and it’s quite good.

  19. I love the teal color. I was at Target earlier this week and looked for this set but couldn’t find it.

    1. Tee, they would even be worth the $38 for 10 blushes! I have been using the SK Anniversary set for a year, and they are quite soft, haven’t shed at all, the ferrules are still perfect. Hopefully these will last as well. They’re a very good low price brush set.

  26. Yessss what an awesome deal! I love finding things like that 🙂

    1. For a buck, I definitely won out!

  27. Wow I cannot believe you got these for $1!!! That’s an insanely good deal! I’ve heard great things about the flat contour brush. I’ve tried Sonia Kashuk brushes in the past and I always enjoyed them!
