Friday Find: The Body Shop Banana Body Butter, Memorial Day Fashion Flash & Giveaway Winner

I Bought This - Affiliate links

This short week has absolutely flown by. I’ve been having a wonderful sunshine-filled week that feels like a vacation. My fun aunt visited for a few days, I went out to dinner with an old friend I haven’t seen in a while, and yesterday I went to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston with the members of my book club. One of the women in our group volunteers as a docent at the Museum, and she gave us her “Ancient Worlds” tour with information about artifacts from ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. It was both fascinating and a lot of fun. I hope you’ve been having a good week as well.

So, today’s Friday Find post will be short and sweet. Literally. In my empties post yesterday, I mentioned that I finished up Aloe Body Butter from The Body Shop and that I will repurchase that unscented butter again one of these days. But recently, I took advantage of The Body Shop’s 40% off with free shipping promotion to buy the new Banana Body Butter, a limited edition for summer.

The Banana Body Butter is formulated with ripe organic banana puree from Ecuador. I found this next bit of information on The Body Shop website kind of interesting and amusing: it’s made from “bananas of all shapes and sizes that won’t sell in the food industry”. Not entirely sure why they mentioned it.

The Body Shop Banana Body Butter is natural, vegan and cruelty free. Because it’s thick, rich and nourishing, it’s recommended for normal to dry skin. Like many body lotions and butters, it moisturizes for 24 hours. It works well for my dry skin. It’s smooth, applies easily, sinks in quickly, and is greaseless. It leaves my skin feeling plumped and protected. Nice.

It comes in a travel size (1.69 oz.) and full size (6.75 oz.). The non-sale prices are $7 and $21, respectively. I went for the full size.

I love the fun pink, yellow and black label adorned with bananas, the banana yellow jar, and the pale yellow cream. I would describe the scent as tropical drink banana rather than the actual fruit, banana. It smells like it has some coconut and pineapple mixed in with the banana. It’s sweet and smells like summer in a jar. This is a body butter that I use when I’m not going to wear perfume. The long-lasting tropical banana drink scent from the Banana Body Butter is all the fragrance I need. I may not want to smell like this during the rest of the year, but it’s perfect for now.

The new banana scented line also include shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, and the new lightweight 48 hour gel-cream  body yogurt. Yum. The new hair products from the “Truly Nourishing” line are also made with ripe banana puree and are either vegetarian or vegan. I think I have to try the shampoo and conditioner this summer as well.

Do the banana-scented body and hair products appeal to you, or not so much?

Derma E Giveaway Winner

Congratulations to Kim P.C., the winner of the Derma E Purifying Scrub and Mask! Kim’s winning entry was a tweet, and that is so fitting. Kim writes the most creative tweets about the giveaway products, far more interesting than the tweets I write. 🙂

Thank you all for entering, following, subscribing, and tweeting. I really appreciate it.

And if you didn’t win this time, not to worry. I have 3 more skincare product giveaways coming up shortly, one next week. So check back, and please enter the next one!

  14. Ooh, that’s nice of them to mention, it means that TBS is trying to reduce the food waste! I watched a documentary about that recently. Apparently a lot of perfectly good food is being literally thrown away by farmers because the produce does not meet the shape and size standards, so the stores wouldn’t buy it. Such a waste! Nowadays there are organizations that are trying to prevent that by taking the misshapen goodies and distributing them for free among low income families, but it’s still not a wide spread practice. The majority of the unfortunate “defected” fruit and veggies are still thrown straight into the dumpster 🙁

    1. Thank you, Anastasia, for explaining the issue about food waste to me! I had no idea that fruits and vegetables that weren’t perfect were thrown away. How ridiculous and terrible especially with people who need food and wouldn’t care about perfection. I’m glad that The Body Shop is utilizing a resource that would otherwise be thrown out.
