Friday Finds: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Eye Pencil

Now that the weather is getting much nicer, I’ve noticed that fewer women seem to have time for blog reading on Fridays. So rather than just skipping Friday, I’ll try a short(er) post theme, Friday Finds, where I highlight a product that is either one that I forgot I had (which is pretty easy for me) or that I’ve found particularly useful lately.

This week’s Friday Find is the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Eye Pencil that I found in one of my makeup bags stored underneath my bathroom sink. How did I forget all about this baby? Probably because I have so much darn makeup, and I don’t have a good storage system.

What I love about this eye pencil is that it has two very useful neutral matte colors:

  • Zero: Urban Decay’s blackest black, I think, or at least it’s very black
  • Whiskey: a rich, highly useful true medium brown.

I own another mini in Zero, and though I have about 4 different blacks from UD, I like Zero, the best.

I picked this pencil up while I was waiting in line at Sephora in Boston during the holiday season. It was in the impulse item bin that I study when I’m waiting for the next available cashier. They have it in the impulse buy kiosk at Ulta, too. It’s priced at $16 for essentially two mini-sized pencils. They have 3 other duos, but this combo seems to be the most available, and definitely a useful one for me.

If you like the Urban Decay eyeliner formula and you switch between black and brown from time to time, this is a good duo to own. I’ve found that the UD liners suit my dry eyelids well, plus they stay on my waterline well enough. I’m glad I rediscovered this convenient pencil.

Do you own any of the Urban Decay double ended eye pencils?

I own zero U.D. double ended pencils. I have plenty of the regular ones. Most of my eyeliners are from Urban Decay. I have looked at Whiskey online and considered getting it. Thank you for providing such a clear swatch. Looks to be a matte and I like that about it.
Have a great weekend Allison and Happy Mother’s Day to you. 🙂

    1. I find it really handy for travel or just to have on hand. Whiskey is the only true brown liner that I own, and I like it more than black/brown shades. Thank you, Laura, for pointing out that it’s matte. Yes, they both are and I should have mentioned it so I edited the post, thanks to your keen eye! It’s supposed to be in the 80s here on Sunday so I’m excited about that. I hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day, Laura!

  2. I love their liners but I can’t wear them on my waterline because of my watery allergy eyes. I like to use them in the inner corner or top of the lash. They always have beautiful colors and staying power!

    1. I’ve had good luck with them. Fortunately, they don’t irritate my eyes. I haven’t found any eyeliner that stays on my waterline for very long. I love the handiness of this double-ended neutral matte pencil

  3. I own and love this!

Oh and I feel you about the organization problems!

If you figure out a good storage solution for your makeup please let me know about it hehe.

    1. I’m glad to hear it, Leigh! I was beginning to think I was the only one who has one of these duo pencils. Other than for my brushes and nail polish (apothecary jars) and a very pretty storage box from Homegoods for my palettes that’s now filled up, I have no storage system. I keep hearing about a crafts storage unit at Michael’s Craft but I keep forgetting to go and look for it.

  4. I love UD pencils. I don’t have a duo but I have a few single ones and yes, they stay very well even in the waterline.

I have the same problem with finding stuff I forgot I had. Or even worse, I know I have something but I cannot find it (even though my makeup collection is somewhat well organized :-))

    1. I need some tips from you on organization, Agata. I have apothecary jars for my brushes and nail polish and a beautiful box that’s now filled up with palettes, but all the rest, OMG, what a disaster.

  5. Whiskey looks amazing! I only have singles, but I love the idea of duos.

    1. I saw that Julie/Collective Beauty used Whiskey in a FOTD a couple of weeks ago, and it made me search for this pencil, and there it is: Whiskey and Zero, a great duo!

  6. I love UD pencils too! I have this one and I find it to be extremely useful – especially for travel! It’s nice to see a review of this.

    1. Thanks, Judy! So glad you have one and like it too 🙂

  7. I had a pencil like this from when I purchased my UD Naked palette. I LOVE the Whiskey shade. It’s such a beautiful brown and a great alternative to the usual black liner. I just wish they stayed put on my lids. For me, with oily eyelids, they don’t seem to last a good amount of time on me and they transfer badly. It’s a shame because I love their formula and they glide on like butter!

    1. I’ve heard that from quite a few women with oily lids, Christine. Since my lids are like the Sahara desert, they work well.

  8. I love Urban Decay, but I’ve always been hit or miss with their pencils. These look fun and I love the colors!

    1. I agree about the great colors from UD, the best! I’ve been lucky that UD pencils really work on me. As a matter of fact, I started out with a Mally black waterproof pencil this morning but it is much harder and harder to get it to work on my waterline so I went back to my trusty UD. It is so interesting how different makeup results are on different women.

  9. Seems like a great make up bag staple! I’ve been looking at the shade Whiskey lately but can’t make up my mind. UD make so many colors it’s ridiculous!

    1. For me, Whiskey is a perfect brown for when I do brown/neutral eye looks with brown mascara for a change. I’m so glad I found this pencil duo 🙂

  10. Great find! It’s like finding $20.00 you forgot about in a coat pocket! I love it when that happens! UD makes amazing eye pencils! This is the perfect combination of shades!

    1. And this was almost literally like finding $20, lol! So glad I found this pencil duo coz I love both shades!

  11. Great idea for a Friday post. Those impulse bins are so temping, but this looks like a great find. You can go wrong with an a brown and black eyeliner from Urban Decay.

  12. LOL, I like this idea for a post, I forget about products all the time! I have 2 UD pencils and they are really great, like I said before I can’t wait to get that purple one from Ulta!

  15. Oh, the land of forgotten products….don’t we all have that? Or maybe just us beauty junkies 😉 I love Whiskey! I’ve raved about that liner on my blog a million times, it’s so pigmented and creamy!

  16. Ohmygoodness I LOVE this pencil! I’ve been using it for 3+ years now! I think it was one of the first eyeliners I’ve ever owned, and it’s great for travelling!

  17. Ah… I think I have two Zeros that I havent’ used yet and are still in packaging. My friend loves the double ended pencils, it’s one of her favs.

    1. Oh, really? Zero is definitely the pencil I use most often. Counting the duo, I’ve got 3 Zeros. Since I have blonde eyelashes and blue eyes, I pretty much tight line and wear mascara every day unless I’m not leaving the house, lol, otherwise, I feel invisible.

  18. I just packed this in my makeup bag to take on an overnight trip this weekend. Love it!

  21. I also have a wasteland of forgotten products! I would def. take this pencil for travel – nothing more useful than black and brown eyeliner. I also love UD Perversion eyeliner, which is the ‘none more black’ liner for me! /Spinal Tap

  23. I don’t have any double ended ones but I have a handful of travel sized UD liners and I love. love. love them. They are so easy to use and set and don’t transfer on my hooded lids. 😀

    1. I think all I have from UD is the minis that I’ve bought in sets, and they are so handy.

  24. Both are pretty colors, I only own the single pencils and really like the shade Perversion.

    1. Same with me, Lisa! those UD pencils 🙂

  26. rach says:

Shame on me, I don’t think I have a single UD pencil at the moment! I give away all the minis that I get that are just black, since I don’t wear them. I wish they’d use Whiskey as a GWP for a change! I’ve got plenty of other “misplaced” makeup too. There’s a catch-all bag in my vanity drawer that I really need to clean out…. Who knows what’s in there! Certainly not me, hahaha

    1. I think that’s a great idea to promote Whiskey more. It’s such a great neutral shade. In fact, I wore it this evening along with DiorShow brown mascara, two Rimmel shadow sticks in camel and dark brown, and I loved it for a change. Too much of only black. Let me know what you find in your bag when you take a look some day, Rach 😉

  27. LOVE double ended liners and the UD ones are fabulous! xxx
