From StriVectin: Two New Favorite Skincare Products for My Neck

I’ve been singing the praises of StriVectin’s TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream (reviewed here) for over a year now. In fact, it was one of my favorite skincare products of 2016. It’s a thick, super rich cream that really works for me with my mature skin, but I’ve found that some women, often younger women, find it to be too rich and too thick for their needs.

StriVectin must have been listening because toward the end of 2016, they came out with two new neck products: StriVectin Tightening Neck Serum Roller and TL Advanced Light Tightening Neck Cream. I’ve been trying them out for a few months now, and I’d like to tell you about them if you haven’t tried them already.

I’ve never seen anything like Tightening Neck Serum Roller. Check this out!

The roller feels very cooling and soothing on my neck. At first, I thought the roller itself might be a gimmick. But in addition to feeling nice on my skin, keeping my fingers from getting sticky when I apply, and helping me use very little product, I think it has helped define my neck and jawline more.

The serum is a clear gel that dries quickly on my neck. I have been using it in conjunction with the StriVectin Light Neck Cream, and the two work well together. I think of the serum as a booster, the something extra that, at my age, can be very helpful. I have been scrutinizing my neck, and I have some creases that are not going away but they look softer, and I can live with that. But I think the attention to my neck with neck cream and now the serum roller that I’ve been using since early December has made a difference in firmness. IMHO I think my neck looks pretty good especially compared to a lot of women in my age range. Hope I’m not just wearing rose-colored glasses?

In addition to using StriVectin Tightening Neck Serum Roller with StriVectin’s Light Neck Cream, I tried it with NeoStrata’s Neck Cream which is heavier and creamier than StriVectin Light. Unfortunately, it makes the NeoStrata Neck Cream pill or ball up, so I don’t use them together any more. So I’m not sure how well the serum will pair with other neck creams. But read on and I’ll tell you about the StriVectin Light Neck Cream and why I think it works so well with the StriVectin Neck Serum Roller.

BTW, StriVectin Tightening Neck Serum Roller has a very light masking scent that is imperceptible unless I put my nose up to the roller. The tube contains 50 ml/1.7 fl. oz. The MSRP is $89.

StriVectin TL Advanced Light Tightening Neck Cream is a gel-cream. IMO, they should have called it Light Neck Gel and really emphasized the difference in form from original thick cream. For all of you women who tried the original StriVectin TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream and found it too heavy, this new gel-cream is the answer. It has a fabulous lightweight texture that’s a pleasure to wear and that goes on so well after the serum. They are both gels so I think they were literally made for each other! I had been using the gel-cream alone for about a month or so before I received the serum, and although I thought it was great, the duo seems even better in terms of hydration and firmness.

The Light Neck Cream was developed to visibly tighten, lift and smooth lines and skin on the neck. It contains what StriVectin calls “Gravitite-CF Lifting Complex™” for lifting neck skin. It also employs their “secret sauce”, their patented NIA-114™ that’s in most of the StriVectin skincare products to strengthen the skin’s barrier to prevent moisture loss resulting in more hydrated delicate neck skin. StriVectin has been creating awareness about using the Neck Serum Roller and the Light Neck Cream to prevent “Tech Neck”, bending your head down to look at your mobile device and creating creases in your neck. Although I think that’s kind of funny, I do think you’re never too young to start taking care of your neck, and these products are appropriate for women of any age.

Like the serum, I would say the Light Neck Cream has a light masking scent that’s a little chemically smelling if you put your nose right into the jar. When I apply it, I smell nothing. It goes on easily and dries quickly. Big fan of the original StriVectin TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream that I am, I must admit I like the Light version even a little better! It’s easier to apply, quicker to dry and blend in, and I think it works as well as the original. Maybe if this winter were colder than it’s been so far, I’d switch back to the original richer formula for the cold weather but so far, it has been rather mild so the Light version is fine.

The jar holds 50 ml/1.7 fl. oz. and the MSRP is $95. The StriVectin line of neck products are available on the StriVectin website where you can often get a discount and free shipping and 7.5% cash back through Ebates (please sign up at the Ebates logo in my sidebar; it’s free!). In addition, StriVectin is widely available at Ulta Beauty and good department stores and online retailers. Macy’s often has sales on StriVectin, and they carry appealing starter kits. Keep your eyes open.

  1. I’m not sure what’s your age, Allison but your neck looks amazing. Yes, I know it’s a weird thing to say but the neck is one of the first tell-tale sign of aging and yours look great! May I ask what age did you start using a neck tightening cream? I’m turning 38 end Jan and wants to know when I should start using one for myself.

    1. mwah, Shireen! Bless you. Actually, I started using a dedicated neck cream pretty early, around 35, I think, because I used to go to Georgette Klinger Spa in NYC, and they had the best skincare as well as skin services at their spa. I loved their neck cream. Unfortunately, the privately-owned company was sold a while back and then it went out of business. Do you need a separate neck cream at 38? I can’t say for sure. The neck on the skin is thinner than the face, I think, so the strategy is similar to the eyes: can you use one moisturizer for your face, eyes and neck/decolletage? Yes you can. But if you want to target areas with different ingredients, different weight products then individual ones are best. If you had oily skin (and I don’t think you do, right?) and you chose skincare for your face that wasn’t overly hydrating, your neck might be missing out on needed hydration. This is a really rambling answer, sorry, I’m thinking out loud. Also, the neck is hard to exercise so keeping the skin is harder than other areas so a firming neck cream is a good thing IMO. I hope one of the brands you work with will send you a neck cream. Heck, ask ’em for one!

  2. So the pricetag on skincare that’s quality always makes me shudder a bit but I’ll be honest, your neck looks great and sometimes you need to put yourself first! Thanks for this review. I need to explore this combo for my life!!!

    1. Thanks a lot, Judy! Yes, these are pricey options, but thinking about it, I started out a long time ago with neck cream from the Madison Avenue spa, Georgette Klinger, and my guess is it would have cost about the same in today’s dollars. I was lucky that I got a free start with StriVectin neck skincare, but I have bought the original neck cream twice so far because I am such a fan. I’m 2/3 done with the gel and I have a full jar of the cream waiting, but after that it will be hard to choose between gel and cream. I’ve always got an eye out for a sale on StriVectin!

  3. Laura Sorvillo says:

Your neck looks great Allison. I’m really slacking in the neck cream department,I use whatever products I’m using on my face. I know I should be getting a separate neck cream and Strivectin is definitely the one I would use,you and many others have given it positive reviews and I honestly like their line in general just not the price, lol. I will keep my eyes open for deep discounts on this,I want to start before I end up regretting waiting. 🙂

    1. Laura, I’m glad to hear you’re moisturizing your neck. Even with your facial moisturizer, that helps. I started using a dedicated neck cream when I was in my 30s because the Madison Ave. spa that I used to go to in NY had their own fabulous line of skincare and makeup products. Sadly, the company was sold and then went out of business. I had been seeking a neck cream that I could really love when I was introduced to the original StriVectin TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream – I’ve gone through 3 jars of it. And having the Serum Roller now is just amazing. I’m 2/3 of the way through the jar of the Light Neck Cream, and I have a new jar of the original waiting in the wings. After that, it’ll be a tough decision between getting the gel or the original cream. Go to Ulta or a department store and test them out. I bought my last jar of StriVectin Neck Cream at Macy’s when they had a 20% off sale. The StriVectin website does have periodic sales plus you can get the 7.5% cash back through ebates. LMK what you think of it if you sample or try it!

  4. I haven’t gotten around to trying these, but the regular Strivectin neck cream was too thick for me.

  6. Wow I really have been noticing I need something for my neck. But there is no way I can afford something that costs that much. I wish I could. I’m turning last of the 40s number end of Jan. But being a single mom in disability. Not getting any help with child support at this time. One jar of the neck cream is half of my grocery bill if I’m very careful. But I do enjoy reading and learning about these kind of products. I just have a low tight budget. Very low. I can’t really afford any skin care but I do get Ipsy the only sub I do. Because I can get some products and donuse the samples a lot. I have been getting some really good bags with makeup and skin care. It has saved me a lot in being able to try products I wouldn’t normally get to. I get to splurge every once in awhile with a little Drugstore makeup or cleanser. I don’t want to sound like a downer. I just hope some day I can afford more or skin care products like this that r so Winderdul r more affordable. I don’t want to go on and on. I have already probably said too much. But like I said I enjoy reading about it.

    1. I’m glad you enjoy reading about it, Joyce! Skincare and makeup is very expensive, especially when you’re on a tight budget. I definitely get it. Using your facial moisturizer on your neck is worth doing in the meantime, and you’re probably on it. I need to take a look at the neck creams from the drugstore brands next time I’m at CVS because Olay, Neutrogena, L’Oreal and CVS’s own brand have been doing some great skincare at more affordable prices.

  7. These sound pretty terrific. Thanks for talking about the fragrance. One of these days I’ll be a StriVectin gal. The one product I had to review was terrific.

    1. Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were having neck issues. Hope it gets better soon

      1. Yeah, well not really neck but my thyroid area (they found a cyst and it’s causing issues when I swallow). I’m very mindful of that area now…so turtlenecks, scarves, anything there really bother me. I think it’s all mental, from the anxiety of it all.

  9. I’m not sure if I’ve ever used a neck specific product (I do run all my face product down to my chest though) but I love the sound of these.
Bailey recently posted…Stripes Make Everything Nice | Kokie CosmeticsMy Profile

    1. When you’re still young like you are, Bailey, using your moisturizer on your neck is fine. I actually need to amend my post with some neck-specific info that might be useful for everyone to know. Because the muscles aren’t attached to bone like other parts of the body, it more easily loses firmness. Also, there are no oil glands on the neck so it dries out faster. Reasons why older women can benefit from a cream formulated specifically for the neck.

  10. That roller looks like the COOLEST thing! I definitely need to try it!

    1. I really love it. I think it’ll be great in hot weather coz it’s so cooling!

  12. Which do you like better? The original heavier cream or these new products? I am in my early fifties…

    1. Jan, hmmm. I have been using the thick, thick original for just over a year, and I don’t mind the thick formula. But a number of other bloggers including a couple of women in their 50s thought it was too thick for them. I love the lightweight gel-cream formula, and I’m 2/3 of the way through the jar (I think I’m using up the Light at a faster rate however). I’ve got a jar of the original that I bought a month or so before I received the new formula, so I will go back to the original since that’s what I have. In the future, I may switch back to Light.

If you have an Ulta or Macy’s or Nordstrom near you, I suggest going in to the store and trying out both of them to see which you prefer. Macy’s (and maybe the other dept stores) also has a StriVectin neck starter kit that may be worth a look too. My guess is you might prefer the Light coz it’s so darn easy to use. I also think Light is perfect if your neck is on the firm side, and the original if you need more firmness. Sorry for the round-about answer, but it’s hard to make a recommendation for someone else. But I’m glad you asked! LMK what you think

  13. Thanks! I appreciate the depth of your answer! I will check both out!

    1. Glad to help! LMK what you think whenever you get around to it. Have fun, Jan!
