Gabriel Cosmetics Moisturizing Liquid Foundation

Most days I wear BB or CC Cream. It seems easy to just a squeeze or pump a little onto my brush or Beauty Blender, and I’m good to go. But I’m often on the lookout for a good foundation. I remember a couple of years ago, my friend Kim asked me for a recommendation on liquid foundation and I didn’t really have one at the tip of my tongue.  Well, now I do.

I got home from being away for a couple of days, and I found a package in my mailbox with the Gabriel Cosmetics Moisturizing Liquid Foundation in it. Although it was well-cushioned in packing peanuts, it had been outside in the below freezing temperatures for about two and a half days. Boy, it was cold!

I brought it in the house, photographed it, and I was dying to try it. But it must have been partially frozen ‘coz I couldn’t get any foundation out of the glass bottle. I waited a while and it thawed out. I was good to go.

I was already wearing Lancôme Renergie Lift Multi-Action Moisturizer with SPF 15. Instead of using primer, I applied a new product I have been trying out, Lindi Facial Serum. The Lindi Serum has the texture of primer, and it makes my skin feel as smooth as silk. Then I applied the Gabriel Cosmetics Moisturizing Liquid Foundation with SPF 18 in Cool Beige for Fair to Light skin tones with pink undertones (that’s me!). It is a perfect match for my skin.

I used my Sonia Kashuk flat-top angled kabuki brush to apply the foundation. It was easy to apply and blend. I put a little extra over my sun damage, but I didn’t use any concealer.

The Gabriel Cosmetics Moisturizing Liquid Foundation gives me medium to almost full coverage. You can see the shadow of my freckles, but I did not add extra foundation in that area. I love the way it looks: natural. And it feels very velvety. My face feels hydrated, but it looks like a semi-matte finish. On me, it is not dewy like some moisturizing foundations and BB creams can be. It feels great, like I’m wearing nothing. For this review, I did not apply setting powder. #nofilter #whatyouseeiswhatyouget

Gabriel Cosmetics Moisturizing Liquid Foundation, shade 18

Here’s how Gabriel Cosmetics describes the product:

“A light creamy liquid foundation made with naturally derived ingredients to even out skin tone and give skin a silky, natural finish. Unique plant-based hydration system keeps skin supple and resilient yet not oily. Provides excellent coverage for all skin types and is especially advantageous to dry, sensitive complexions.”

Yes! No wonder I like it so much! It’s perfect for my type of skin.  😛

It lasts more than 8 hours on me with little need for touch up, at least in this cold, dry weather.

To be honest, when I was at Whole Foods a few months ago, I swatched some of the shades of Gabriel Cosmetics Moisturizing Liquid Foundation on my hand and neck. When the folks at Gabriel Cosmetics contacted me several weeks ago and asked if there was anything I wanted to try out, I knew already that I wanted to try this foundation on more than my hand and neck. I was delighted to have a chance to really put it to the test.

I love this Moisturizing Liquid Foundation. It is perfect for my dry, sensitive skin. And I love the fact that it is made from plant-based ingredients. I think it would be a good choice for all but those with oily skin. It is infused with vitamins A and E, and it has Titanium Dioxide, the physical sunscreen that I prefer.

My only suggestion for the folks at Gabriel Cosmetics is to consider putting a pump on the bottle. I think it would be worth an extra dollar or two to make it easier to get this creamy foundation out of the bottle more easily!

    1. If you’ve found a foundation that works well for you, stick with it, Kat! I have to wear this over moisturizer and anti-aging primer because my skin is so dry. It goes on creamy but it has an almost matte, probably satin, finish. They do have the Dual Powder Foundation for Oily Skin: “This velvety plant-based formula performs both as a foundation and powder for a smooth matte finish. When applied with a dry sponge, it creates an ultra matte finish or use a moist sponge for a sheer, fresh appearance. Formulated to help minimize shine and absorb excess oil without clogging pores or drying skin. Contains proven antioxidants for superior protection against environmental damage. Titanium Dioxide offers Full Broad Spectrum Sun Block.” Check it out if you go to Whole Foods 🙂

  4. This foundation sounds great and is decently priced! I have oily skin, so I don’t know if it would be a good match for me. Do you know if they have other formulas for different skin types?

    1. Kristina, it is supposed to be good for all skintypes. Because my skin is super dry, I wear this over moisturizer, anti-aging primer and it feels fine. It’s not dewy so I think it could work for oily skin. However, their Dual Foundation Powder is developed specifically for oily skin: “This velvety plant-based formula performs both as a foundation and powder for a smooth matte finish. When applied with a dry sponge, it creates an ultra matte finish or use a moist sponge for a sheer, fresh appearance. Formulated to help minimize shine and absorb excess oil without clogging pores or drying skin. Contains proven antioxidants for superior protection against environmental damage. Titanium Dioxide offers Full Broad Spectrum Sun Block.” Check ’em both out at Whole Foods! That’s how I found this one 🙂

  5. This is wonderful on you. I may try this one if I can find a shade match. I think there is a store in my BFE town that carries Gabriel. I’ll have to go in and see if they have testers.
