Gentle Cleansing for All Skin Types with First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser

I’m trying to remember what I used to wash my face before I became a blogger. Truth be told, I think I used Dove Beauty Bar for many years. Unilever was my client for a long time, both when I worked in advertising for Ogilvy in New York and after I started my own market research consulting business. I remember the old advertising campaign, “Dove is one quarter cleansing cream” that has morphed into moisturizing cream, as they call it now. Actually, Dove Beauty Bar did an excellent job at keeping my dry skin hydrated.

But now I’ve become a skincare junkie, and I love trying different cleansers. Through my Sephora Play Bag subscription that I cancelled a couple of years ago, I got a travel size or two of First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser. I like it a lot especially for winter use. Somewhere along the line, I must have purchased a full size tube because I just found one the other day in one of my beauty drawers. Meanwhile, I received a full size tube a couple of months ago in my Ipsy Glam Bag Plus, and I’ve been using it since then.

In case you haven’t tried it yet, FAB Face Cleanser is definitely worth getting to know. Although I think it’s especially perfect for dry or sensitive skin, it is actually good for all skin types including oily skin and for those with rosacea. The fragrance-free, fluffy white cream turns into a rich cream when mixed with water. It effectively removes dirt, excess oil and grime while leaving skin soft and supple, never tight and dry. Importantly, FAB Face Cleanser is pH balanced.

It contains a botanical antioxidant blend that can help protect skin from free radicals and other environmental aggressors. It contains calming ingredients like aloe and allantoin as well as glycerin for hydration and smoothing.

Also important to know: FAB Pure Skin Face Cleanser is allergy-tested, gluten-free, oil-free, soy-free, nut-free, nano-free, and vegan.

The long, slim plastic tube that I have contains 5 oz./1.42g, though it also comes in a travel-friendly 2 oz. tube and a mega 8 oz. size. Because a small amount goes a long way, it is long-lasting. Prices range by size from $11, $21 and $32. It’s widely available on the First Aid Beauty website, at Ulta, Sephora, Dermstore.com, QVC and others.

My only minor complaint about this creamy, rich cleanser is that it can be hard to remove with my cleansing sponge because it’s so rich – it kinda coats the sponge. Lately, I’ve been using my Foreo Luna with it, and that makes it much easier to remove afterwards with my sponge. Even without the Foreo, it comes off easily with a washcloth.

  1. Does it foam up at all? It sounds great for my dry and mature skin type.

    1. No, Shireen, FAB Face Cleanser doesn’t foam up. It turns milkier and even creamier with water. To be honest, I can’t remember the last time I used a foaming cleanser – maybe the travel size cleanser that I got from PCA Skin last summer.

  2. I’m all about the gentle cleansers – makes my skin happy. I’ll have to put this on my “to try” list!

I always travel with a little tube of this or Fresh Soy cleanser, whichever I have on hand at the time. Truthfully, I like this FAB offering more, as it’s thicker (Fresh Soy is pretty runny) and doesn’t feel as dangerous to pack. The tube says it’ll remove makeup but I’ve always used it as a morning or second cleanse. Have you tried it on makeup? If so do you find it effective?

    1. I agree with you, Rachel. Though I liked the Fresh Soy Cleanser, the runny consistency wasn’t my fave. I prefer this creamy, pillowy cleanser from FAB. I am devoted to the double cleanse, and these days I’m using Koh Gen Do SPA Cleansing Water, so I have never used the FAB to remove my makeup. I don’t like see my makeup coming off all over my face with a cleanser. I like taking it off with a cotton pad, and using a cleanser to get off anything the MW missed. Sorry, no info on that from me!

Oh I’m a devoted double-cleanser myself, though I usually go the oil/balm followed by creme cleanser route. I was just wondering. 🙂

        1. 😀 I thought about trying it last night but I still couldn’t get past having makeup coming off all over my face and my washcloth, lol. A little OCD do you think?

  4. I tried it from an Ipsy bag sample too and liked it. With blogging I have so many facial cleansers that buying one is out of the question but I’d consider this.

    1. I used to get a lot of cleansers from PR to try out, but I haven’t in a while. I was happy to see the FAB cleanser in my Ipsy Plus box, and even more surprised to see that I had bought a tube myself. I’m set for quite a while now.

  7. I tried a sample of this before, and I thought that it was incredible. It has been on my list to buy when I need another cleanser (which could be quite a while).

    1. Haha, I know what you mean about your cleanser stash lasting forever! Surprisingly, I haven’t gotten a cleanser to review for several months so when I finished up my warmer weather Italian cleanser, I was happy to use the FAB Face Cleanser that I got in my Ipsy Plus box. I was so surprised when I discovered that I had bought a full size tube that I forgot all about. Now I am certainly set for quite a while too!
