Giveaway: Beessential Natural Skincare

Although my yard still looks more or less like this:

house-snow-winter-2015

it is starting to melt, and in a month or so, hopefully it’ll be all gone. And I can start to think about gardening.

cherry tree in bloom IMG_2723Last year, I dug out the overgrown lavender plants that were woody and misshapen and replaced them with new ones. I’m hoping they survived this tough winter, but hopefully the heavy blanket of snow kept them safe. Just hope the plow didn’t dig them up.

At any rate, I love lavender because it smells so wonderful. Also, I use it to make sachets and in cooking. Plus the color is just great especially when paired with yellow-blooming plants. But most important is that bees love lavender, and the bees are in trouble. I love to plant plants that attract bees and butterflies to help sustain them both.

Bee-Clip-Art-2

Because I love bees and all the good that they do, I was so happy when I was approached by the folks at Beessential to try their skincare products. Beessential Natural Skincare products started with a single hive. The owners discovered they loved beekeeping and the honey that the bees produced. From there, they decided to get more bees and produce skincare products made from beeswax, honey and other natural ingredients. Now, they have a wonderful line of bee-dependent skincare products including products for lips, hair and skin.

Here are all the goodies I was sent to try out:

Beeseentials Natural Skincare

I saw a review of Beessential Natural Skincare products online a few months ago, and I really wanted to try the products. And I love them even more than I thought I would. Check out the entire product line on the Beessential website.

Hand & Body Cream

As I have mentioned many times, I have super-dry skin. The Beessential Original Honey Hand & Body Cream is fabulous. It is thick but easy to apply, and it is extremely hydrating for my winter-dry skin. And I know it’ll be great in the summer too. I use it on my body after a shower and on my hands during the day. It is very long-lasting, and it’s fragrance-free.If you have dry skin, I strongly recommend trying this wonderful cream. It comes in two other scents/ingredient combos: lavender-bergamot and cucumber-green tea. It’s priced at $12.99.

Here are the details and the ingredients:

  • A Fragrance Free Moisturizing Cream for hands, face and body
  • Silk Proteins & Beeswax seal-in moisture
  • Hydrating Honey
  • Antioxidant-rich
  • Bee-derived Propolis Extract
  • 7 Nourishing Moisturizers
  • Non-Irritating
  • All Natural
  • Paraben-Free Body Cream

Ingredients: Cupuacu Butter, Shea Butter, Squalene, Olive Oil, Cetearyl Olivate, Honey, Propolis Extract (Bee-Derived), Isotearyl Isotearate (Vegetable Derived), Oleyl Oleate (Vegetable Derived), Silk Protein, Beeswax, Cetyl Palmitate, Sorbitan Palmitate, Sorbitan Olivate, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol (Paraben-Formaldehyde Free Preservative) and Xanthan Gum

Lip Balm

I carry all kinds of lip balms around with me and I have them all over the house. The Beessential Natural Honey Lip Balm smells like honey, and it is divine. It is thick and emollient. It is NOT grainy like some natural lip balms can be. Plus it stays on my lips for hours. The Natural Lip Balm is made with a blend of replenishing Virgin Olive and Coconut Oils, and moisturizing Beeswax, Aloe and Hemp. Here’s what Beessential has to say about it:

“This naturally deilicious Honey Lip Balm tastes as sweet as the honeycomb it came from and leaves no greasy residue. Honey is a natural humectant able to trap moisture for supple lips that last for hours. So, sit back and smile while others incessantly reapply this summer. With this un-bee-lievable formula of Beeswax, Olive Oil, Shea and Cupuacu butters, lips stay ultra-soft and hydrated.”

Ingredients: Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Cupuacu Butter, Olive Oil, Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Propolis Extract, Honey, Natural Honey Flavor, Monk Fruit Extract.

It comes in a variety of flavors:

  • Pure Honey
  • Peppermint
  • Lavender-Lemon
  • Cinnamon-Clove O’Christmas
  • Orange-Ginger

The Lavender-Lemon was a Total Beauty.com award winner.

The lip balms are sold individually for $2.99 or in tins of 5 either of the same flavor or in a variety pack for $14.95.

Natural Bar Soap

I know not everyone uses bar soap, but I happen to love it. I still find it handy and the easiest way to feel really clean. But fairly recently, I switched to a cream cleanser for my dry skin, and I was a little nervous about trying the black Dead Sea Mud Soap. Well, I was nervous for no reason. The Beessential Dry-Skin Fighting Dead Sea Mud Soap is the creamiest, most hydrating soap I’ve ever tried. The lather is amazing! This is what it looks like on my face…like a hydrating mask!

Beecology Dead Sea Mud Bar Soap

And though I always apply serum and moisturizer after cleansing, the Dead Sea Mud Soap doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight and dry but supple and hydrated. It:

  • Conquers dry skin
  • Recommended for Acne, Psoriasis and Eczema
  • Moisturizing
  • Restores pH balance
  • Gentle, mild.

Ingredients: Coconut, Olive, Palm, Shea Butter, Babassu, Beeswax, Castor Oil and Dead Sea Mud.

I use the My Big Fat Greek Yogurt and Honey Bar as an all-purpose body and face bar soap in the shower since the combo of yogurt, honey and juniper oil removes dead skin cells, hydrate and revitalize skin cells. I love this one too! Great lather and again, it leaves me feeling moisturized rather than dry.

Ingredients: Coconut, Olive, Palm, Shea Butter, Honey, Beeswax, Yogurt and Juniper Berry Essential Oil.

There are 7 different handmade, all-natural soaps to choose from here:

  • Dead Sea Mud
  • Greek Yogurt, Honey & Juniper Oil
  • Tea Tree Oil
  • Totally Hip Hemp & Lemongrass
  • Oatmeal & Honey
  • Lavender & Honey
  • Mechanic’s & Gardner’s Soap.

Each bar is $5.99.

Do go to the website and check out the entire Beessential line of products. There are also SLS-free shampoo and conditioner and gentle body wash that are on my list to try next.

  1. That is a lot of snow! Ten years ago I traded all that in for fire ants, roaches, snakes, mice, and 90+ degrees/ 6 months of the year in the South. We have had snow four times in ten years. It only lasts a few hours usually. I don’t think I am brave enough to be in snow anymore. Good Luck to you!

i am very scared of bees but i know they are vital to this planet!

    1. Kelly, I was afraid of bees too, but since I started growing lavender and starting picking raspberries at a local farm, I have found that honey bees aren’t very interested in people. They just want to do their thing, and they leave me alone. Now wasps and yellow jackets are another story! Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!!

  10. Rebecca B says:

I’ve tried other bee products that have worked pretty well, but am always on the lookout for something new, especially to repair my skin after a long winter

  12. rach says:

I love hearing honey bees buzz around almost as much as I love my lavender plants, so that works out nicely. The bees are also especially fond of our apricot tree, and there is nothing like standing under its branches and hearing them all hard at work. Happy bees in surround sound! 😀

    1. I can just picture it, Rach! And I’ve had a similar experience when I pick raspberries at a local farm: the bees do their thing and pretty much ignore me as I pick the fruit! Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!

  13. These sound great, and I love the variety of scents. I want to try the mud soap! I believe that without bees, there wouldn’t be anything else, so it’s important to save them! I just don’t want them right around me, though. I’m kinda scared of them! lol
Nidia – Lit From Within recently posted…Forever Fractionated Coconut Oil #coconutoilfractionatedMy Profile

    1. What’s so cool about honey bees as opposed to wasps or yellow jackets is they are not interested in people! I pick raspberries several times in the summer and honey bees are all over those bushes, but they don’t’ seem to care about me picking them. They do their thing, and I do mine. I do keep my epi pen with me, but I have never had to use it. Now wasps are another story! These products are fabulous BTW. Actually, the only one with a scent so far is the Honey Lip Balm; the cream and soaps are pretty much fragrance-free.

  14. Sounds like a wonderful line of products!

I used to see a lot of honey bees in my garden, and over the past couple of years, not so much. I’m glad you entered the giveaway, Leah. Good luck!!

  28. Debra Brownstein says:

What a coincidence! I posted a picture of my shampoo and conditioner from Beesentials a few days ago on Instagram! So far that is all I have gotten except for the sample of body wash they sent me. (To die for!) I am a huge advocate for the use of bee “by-products” for several reasons. One, by buying products from companies like Beesentials, we are helping to keep honeybees alive. They are an essential part of our eco-system. Second, bee by products like propolis, royal jelly, beeswax and raw honey are so versatile. For instance, raw honey is a great humectant, cleanser, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. Third, I like knowing where the ingredients of a beauty care product come from and when using Beesentials’ products, there’s not a long list of strange chemical compounds. I could go on and on about why I endorse and use bee by-products but I’ll spare you! So thrilled you are getting the word out about this company and I would love to win more of their products.

    1. Amen, Debra! That’s so great that you know this brand, and clearly know the benefits of bees and using bee by-products in skincare! Thank you for entering the giveaway! I wish you good luck 🙂

      1. Debra Brownstein says:

I’m just happy that you are letting others know about this brand. This is a great little company. Think I’ll just put off my order until the end of the giveaway- just in case!!

        1. Why not wait, just in case! Thanks Debra 🙂

  29. Robin Wilson says:

Aside from being stung, I love bees! Everything about them and it’s such a shame that they are having such problems in our area. But I do have a friend that raises them and there are several people in my neighborhood that keep them too. There’s nothing like getting that wonderful honey each year.

    1. I agree, Robin! We have a friend who keeps bees in Maine, and the honey that he gives us at the holidays always tastes better than any other honey I’ve tried. I hope that hive collapse will soon be a thing of the past, and bees will continue to be the little powerhouses that they are. Thank you for entering the giveaway, and good luck!!

  30. I’m with you on bar soap, I use it often. This line sounds great. When I think of bees I think of how terrified my 3 year old grandson is but he likes pictures of them at least.

    1. I can understand how he would be afraid of them. The honey bees are smaller than other bees, and I was surprised at home uninterested they are in people when they are going about their business. I pick raspberries at a local farm and the bushes are loaded with honey bees. I was shocked that they didn’t mind that I picked while they did their thing (tho’ I bring along my Epi pen just in case!). And Beessential products really are wonderful. I adore the Dead Sea Mud Soap, so gentle, creamy, mild!

  31. Bees feed the world. Without them, we can’t grow crops, we can’t survive. It is on us to do everything we can to preserve and protect them, not keep on wiping them out in record numbers.

    1. I was amazed, Loyda, when I pick raspberries at a local farm that the bees who are all over he raspberry bushes don’t care a thing about me. They just go about their business and I mine. Bees are so important for the flowers and for all of our crops! And the products that Beessential made from bee by-products are wonderful. Thank you for entering the giveaway and good luck 🙂

I’d love to try this brand and see how it compares to Burt’s Bees

    1. It may be similar, Laura, to Burt’s Bees when it first started. Now BB seems so corporate to me! Beessential is a family-owned, smaller scale company. I love their packaging (especially the Hand & Body Cream) as well as the products themselves.

  61. Christina M. says:

I got some experience helping a friend with her hives last summer and fall, and I really got a taste for beekeeping! The girls are so lovely to be around, and you can’t help but be thankful and grateful for how hard they work… and how much of our food they’re responsible for pollinating. 🙂

    1. Wow, Christina, that’s great that you’ve participated in beekeeping with a friend! Doesn’t the honey that comes direct from the hive taste better? The Beesseential products are great and you would enjoy them. Thank you for entering the giveaway and good luck 🙂

      1. Christina M. says:

The honey was amazing! I have even more respect for bees and their hives now… sweet ladies. <3

        1. I love how you call them girls/ladies, of course!!

          1. Christina M. says:

Haha! I guess I do! The bees (and each particular hive) have such personality. It’s hard not to see them as these busy little women working together, and creating worlds, because well, that’s what they are. The drones are sweet too, and of course, stingerless, but you rarely get to see them. I usually see them at their end, after a mating flight, so I tell them thank you, and just find them a nice patch of grass to go to sleep in. The bee world is just so beautiful. Thanks for beeing (!) excited about it with me. <3

          2. Christina, you are a poet of the hives! I love hearing about the bees from you! If I could choose a winner based on best answer, you would win hands down <3

  65. Cynthia Knisely says:

I really don’t care for bees but I love the healthy things that can be made from their honey

    1. I mostly agree with you, Cynthia, about bees and especially about other insects like wasps and hornets. I’ve come to be OK with bees because in working in my garden or picking raspberries at a farm, I have seen that the bees – especially honey bees – aren’t too interested in me; they just want to go about their business. At any rate, their by-products help make for great skincare products. I love the Beessential Skincare products that I’ve tried. Thank you for entering the giveaway and good luck!

  72. Laura says:

When I was a youngster you could not walk through the grass barefoot without getting stung by a bee. The clover attracted them. I miss the constant hum of them by the flowers during the summer. Now I rarely see even one and if I do it is usually lying dead somewhere. Sad.

    1. That is so interesting, Laura. I know so many people who used to get stung by the wasps that are in the grass. But you are right, the honey bees are few and far between these days. Last summer, I didn’t get to pick raspberries at the farm but that’s where I mostly see honey bees. This coming summer, I will keep my eyes open. I get a lot of bumblebees and carpenter bumblebees that like my lavender. I hope some honey bees will show up. Thank you for entering the giveaway! Good luck 🙂

  79. I like bees and think they’re pretty, even though I’m allergic to them. They serve a useful purpose in nature.

    1. I’m allergic too, Cheryl. I was concerned when I picked raspberries at a local farm because so many bees were on the raspberry bushes. Luckily, they were more concerned with collecting pollen than they were with me! Thank you for entering the giveaway and good luck 🙂

  80. Carolyn Daley says:

I like bees because they make our world a better place. I like to keep my distance for fear of getting stung, but overall bees are great for pollinating flowers, making honey, and providing us with many benefits such as bee pollen helping our skin. I would love to win because I want to try the hand and body cream since they smell good, hydrated skin, and are paraben-free.

    1. I agree with you, Carolyn. The Beessential products are wonderful. Thank you for entering the giveaway, and good luck 🙂
