Giveaway & Holiday Gift Idea: High-Quality, Affordable ShaveMob Razor & Cartridges

I have used the same brand of razor and blades/cartridges for a zillion years, like forever. OK, I did stray once, and I tried the number two brand, but I didn’t like it. I went back to my one and only.

A new company called ShaveMob asked me if I would be interested in trying out their product. I was concerned about trying a brand I hadn’t heard of because when it comes to shaving, you certainly don’t want to have to do it twice.

I asked what was different about their new brand. I was told that it was superior quality at a more affordable price. In fact, ShaveMob can be up to 70% less expensive than the leading brand. That got my attention. Usually I buy my razor blades in bulk at Costco. Last time I bought cartridges at Costco, I remember that I almost had a heart attack when the price rang up on the register. Could they really cost that much? Well, yes they could! So that made me open to ShaveMob’s story. It was definitely worth a try.

ShaveMob’s Story

ShaveMob’s blades are made from the highest quality, stainless steel and with the same high quality workmanship and precision as the leading brand (probably the one I was using). In consumer testing by an outside research company, ShaveMob razors were rated  equivalently to the leading brand on comfort, closeness, nicking and irritation. That’s reassuring! But I needed to test it out for myself.

ShaveMob sells both mens and women’s razors and cartridges. My women’s razor and some of the cartridges are pink, and I like pink. The men’s version comes with an optional trimmer.

The women’s cartridges come in three price point/blade options:

  • 3 blade: The Practical
  • 4 blade: The Purist
  • 6 blade: The Perfectionist

I received two versions of their top-of-the-line The Perfectionist cartridges:

  • the flexible head
  • the fixed head

The razor handle is universal so that any of ShaveMob’s cartridges will clip right in. Here’s a close up of the flex head cartridge attached to the handle.

The Perfectionist 6 Blade Cartridge: 2 versions

I started out with The Perfectionist’s 6 blade cartridge with the flexible head. The flexible cartridge comes in its own little recyclable case. I’ve been blown away at what a close shave it gives. I believe you’re supposed to change cartridges every two weeks, but I’ve been using it for about a month, and it still gives a fantastic shave.

Processed with Rookie

My old razor was a 5 blade, so this 6 blade cartridge is a step up for me. Also, the cartridge pivots at the neck where it’s attached to the handle as I shave, so that contributes to the ease and the closeness of the shave. The blades in the flex head cartridge are arranged in two sets of three blades to prevent clogging. It has a lubricating strip, but more interesting to me is the exfoliating strip of little nubs that also helps the hair stand up so that it can be shaved off more effectively. The first time I used it, I thought it had an unusual feeling, but I got used to it quickly and now I prefer the exfoliating feel to a regular blade without it! The Perfectionist flex head is their most popular model, and I can see why.

ShaveMob says that one of The Perfectionist’s key advantages is that it gives the closest shave in the shortest amount of time! I never had to go back over a patch. It gave me a perfect shave.

Here are the description and benefits ShaveMob lists for the 6 blade razor:

  • 6 stainless steel, precision-cut blades
  • Flexible, pivoting head for a perfect-smooth around curves
  • Lubricating strip containing vitamin E, aloe, lavender oil
  • Non-clogging Flow-through blade design
  • Ergonomic, non-slip handle
  • Replaceable cartridge razor.

The pricing is based on the quantity of blades you buy. The more you buy, the more you save. The price for The Perfectionist is:

  • 2 month supply: 1 handle & 4 cartridges= $12.99
  • 6 month supply: 1 handle & 12 cartridges=$22.99
  • 12 month supply: 1 handle & 24 cartridges=$39.99

Yesterday, I saw a similar product from the leading brand at Costco priced at $31.99 for 8 cartridges, so I am very impressed by ShaveMob’s prices!

The Perfectionist, 6 blade: Fixed head

razor 6 blade cartridges

The fixed head cartridge also gives a close shave, and it’s easy to manipulate and use. Though it has a fixed head instead of a pivot, it has many of the same features as The Perfectionist including:

  • 6 stainless steel, precision-cut blades
  • Lubricating strip containing chamomile, olive oil, allantoin.

I liked this one too, but the pivoting head of the other model was a nice feature.

The pricing on The Perfectionist Fixed Head cartridge is:

  • 2 month supply: 1 handle & 4 cartridges= $11.99
  • 6 month supply: 1 handle & 12 cartridges=$19.99
  • 12 month supply: 1 handle & 24 cartridges=$34.99

Holiday Gift Idea

In addition to considering ShaveMob for yourself or for your husband/boyfriend to replace the expensive razors and cartridges you’re probably using now, the ShaveMob handle and cartridges would make a great holiday gift or stocking stuffer.

SahveMob razors

The 2 month starter kit – a great way to test it out – can be as low as $9.99. The Stocking Stuff kit contains:

  • 1 handle, men’s or women’s
  • 2 month supply of men’s or women’s razor blades in a choice of 3, 4 or 6 blade heads
  • 1 mustache monocle. I had no idea what a mustache monocle was, but this is it! It’s a wooden mustache for men who can’t or won’t grow a mustache but want to support men’s prostate cancer awareness month in November. Fun or a cool key chain!

The Verdict

I really like ShaveMob’s razors. I got a super close shave with no nicks, cuts or irritation at all. When I use up these blades, I intend to buy more. Frankly, I can’t imagine why I would go back to paying a lot more for blades from my old brand. No way. No reason to pay more.

And I hear that ShaveMob is just getting going. It’s launching a shave cream early next year!

GIVEAWAY!

ShaveMob sent me an extra set containing one woman’s handle and a set of 4 cartridges for both versions of The Perfectionist to give away to one lucky winner. So let’s have a quickie giveaway.

    1. I was amazed at how good these blades are. I’ve been using the same brand forever, but I have made the switch to ShaveMob!

  2. I hate how expensive razors are! This sounds like an awesome alternative to my venus or schick that I currently love but hate the cost of! 🙂
jen recently posted…Kiss InstaWave { review }My Profile

    1. It really is, Jen! I have used Venus my entire life, but frankly, these perform just as well or better, and the price is so much more affordable. Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!

  3. I spend a small fortune on Venus razors! I wonder if this could save me some money? It sounds good. My husband may like, too.
    Erika recently posted…Orly MirrorballMy Profile

    1. I’m glad you entered the giveaway, Erika! Maybe you’ll win and you can check ’em out. I really love them. They give a very close shave. I used the flex head cartridge for an extra 2-3 weeks, and up till a few days before I put in a new one it was still super-sharp. If you decide to try them, get the flexible head version that’s worth the extra couple of bucks. The only difference I see is that the lubricating strip is less gooey than the Venus strip, but I don’t care about it since I use shaving cream/gel. And I like the exfoliating strip that makes the hair stand up for a closer shave. It feels neat

  4. Oh, wow! I’ve always been curious about these shaving subscriptions. I really like the price point. You’re like me – I like to stretch my razor to see how long it can last 🙂 I’m one of those types who will use the same razor blade for as long as I can lol
Vivienne recently posted…I’d KISS This Product, Too!My Profile

    1. This is a little different from the shaving subscriptions that send you blades every month or so. This is more like shopping at Costco and getting a certain number of blades at once, and then you can reorder whenever you’re ready. I like the price point, and I also love the product. I did use the flex head cartridge for a month, and I would say I used it just about a few days too long because when I switched to a new blade, I could tell the difference. I think these are a good deal and are very well made.

  5. My husband has been using Mach 3 razors since they came out on the market. He always balks at the price but he has never found anything else even comparable for a close shave. I am easy I use whatever he buys. I have been the recipient of all his failed attempts to switch to a cheaper brand. I wonder if he would be interested in trying this brand?

    1. Hope you’ll enter the giveaway, Laura, and maybe you’ll win and can check ’em out. I have been a Venus loyalist since they came out, and I was surprised that I now prefer these. The lubricating strip isn’t quite as gooey as the Venus strip, but I use shaving cream so I dislike the Venus gooiness and I like the exfoliating strip on these. If you do try them, get the flexible head. It’s worth the extra couple of bucks. 🙂

  6. This sounds like an amazing razor. Replacement razors are always so expensive! This not only sounds very effortless and effective, but it is also so cute! This looks well worth trying! Thank you for the comprehensive review! Always such a delight to read your posts, Allison!

  8. I would buy it because its pink 😉
Eugenia recently posted…Holiday Gifts for the Beauty Lover from HSNMy Profile

    1. That is too cute, Eugenia! Actually, it’s a really cute razor and I love how the flexible head blades comes in their own little recyclable pink containers. And it gives a really close shave. Great product!

  9. The flexible-head Perfectionist sounds good. I love that it is pink! I spend a small fortune on Venus and signed up for laser removal as a result. Evolution left me behind, hair-wise 🙁
Renu recently posted…theBalm Balmsai Eyeshadow and Brow Palette review, swatchesMy Profile

    1. haha, Renu! The flex head Perfectionist is really good, and I too love the pink. I’m too cheap & too chicken for laser, but that’s great that you can do it!

  10. Girl you know I entered. 😉 lol
I have never bought razors for myself. When I lived at home I used whatever my dad bought which was usually the cheap disposable Bic razors. Those things were brutal.

    1. Oh, I’m glad you did, Laura 😉 So should I ask, what do you use instead? I’m too cheap for laser, lol, and too chicken for waxing.

  11. These look great- and the price point is amazing!

    1. I’ve been more than satisfied with them, Bailey. After I use up my samples, I’ll buy the flex head Perfectionist. I’m done with Venus’s cartridge prices. 😉

  12. i would definitely give these a try. I hate buying razors because they are really expensive.
    Agata recently posted…Red LipsMy Profile

    1. I agree, Agata. I really liked these, especially the flex head Perfectionist. They give a great close shave, and last a long time. The only difference is that the lubricating strip isn’t gooey like the Venus strip, that doesn’t matter to me coz I use shaving cream/gel. And the flex head Perfectionist has a cool exfoliating strip that both exfoliates dead skin and causes the hair to stand upright for a closer shave. It’s a good deal. Hope you entered the giveaway!

  13. I have all of this stuff and the Perfectionist is the BEST

  14. Ok, so what is it about razors that makes them SO expensive? I’m not even joking, the last time I got Venus refills it was $18 for 4….WHAT??!! I would much rather stop shaving and buy makeup, but hubby would NOT agree! Thanks for the great review and giveaway!

  17. I will use a razor way longer than I should – I hate paying high prices! The pivot head and exfoliator nubs do sound interesting, though I’m not sure that 6 blades isn’t overkill! Maybe I’ll win and can try for myself!

    1. I had never tried 6 blades before, and it provides an amazingly close shave, period, the end.

  18. Great stocking stuffer!

    1. It really is! And it is a really good razor/blades as well!

  19. I shave so this sounds like a great brand to try
Kath TheFabZilla recently posted…Reviva Labs Hawaiian Seaweed Cleansing Milk and Beauty Mask :: Review, PhotosMy Profile

    1. Keep it in mind, Kathryne. I have been a Venus loyalist since the beginning. The 6-blade flexible head from ShaveMob gives me a closer shave, it’s easier to do, and it provides a substantial cost savings so I can buy more makeup!

  20. Finding the right razor can be a problem but these look nice. Definitely a great gift idea.

    1. I was loyal to one brand since I started shaving, but I have definitely switched: closer shave, easier to use, substantial cost savings. Done.

  21. Sounds like a great razor- I usually use the cheapy single blades!
Sheila recently posted…Get Great Beauty Gifts At Your Fingertips Over At HSNMy Profile

    1. I think I started off with those, Sheila, in college. When Venus came out or maybe before, I switched. But I must say I am super-impressed with the incredibly close shave I get with the 6-blade flex head cartridge. I’ve been a loyal user since Venus came out, but I am definitely switching: as good or better shave and definitely a cost savings!

  22. Those prices are incredible! I can’t believe how expensive razor cartridges are sometimes. And it’s even weirder that many of the big brands have cheaper Australian prices than they do US prices.
Kimmi @ The Plastic Diaries recently posted…Best Online Beauty Stores + International ShippingMy Profile

    1. I think they are definitely good prices, less than I pay for Venus by far! And I actually prefer the ShaveMob razor especially with the 6 blade flexible head. It provides an incredibly close shave and it’s so easy to use. Love it! I have switched!!

  23. I totally understand loving your razor. I just tried dollar shave club and I hated it, already back to my previous razor love!
Justina recently posted…Wrenn Jewelry ReviewMy Profile

    1. I was loyal to my Venue razor forever, so I was very very skeptical about trying a new brand. But I’m glad I did. I actually get a closer shave from the ShaveMob Perfectionist. And the flexible head makes shaving sooooo easy. I think the Dollar Shave Club may be their competitor, but in this one, you buy a certain number of cartridges, e.g. 2, 4 or 8, and then you just reorder if and whenever you want. I prefer that.

  24. These razors sound awesome! I usually stick with Schick Sensitive but I’d totally give these a go!

I ordered the InstaNatural serum and Moroccan rose water you reviewed (gee, I get just about everything you favorably review!). It was supposed to be here today, but
isn’t. Can hardly wait to get it!
    jane-in-tx .

    1. Yes, they are, Jane! Couldn’t agree more! I tried this razor and blades from ShaveMob with trepidation because I have been a lifelong loyalist to Gillette. But I know prefer the ShaveMob Perfectionist with the flex head. It gives me an incredibly close shave, the flexible head makes it super easy to use, and one cartridge lasted me almost a month. The only difference is the lubricating strip isn’t as gooey as the Venus strip is when you first start using a new cartridge. But I don’t care about that because I use shave cream/gel. I’m glad you entered, Jane, and good luck!!
About the InstaNatural Serum, it is one of my 3 favorites (along with Coui and a new one, Valentia, I haven’t reviewed yet). I love the consistency, the slight citrus scent, and the best part is that it has retinol in it along with HA and other goodies. The Rosewater is just heaven for me. I use it whenever I’m stressed out, or when I want my face to feel like velvet. And $13.75 is a small price to pay for heaven, lol. I hope you like them, Jane!! Thank you for your comment and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours <3
