Glam It Up w Ardell Easy to Apply Magnetic Liner & Lash, Accent Size

I find most false lashes tricky to apply. Also most false lashes are too big for my eyes, and I have to trim them. As a result, I seldom wear them.

However, Ardell’s new Magnetic Liner & Lash (the 2nd version with Magnetic Eyeliner) that I wrote about a couple of months ago here have been a game changer for me. Nevertheless, the first pair of them, Wispies, that I tried were a little too long for the size and shape of my eyes (though they’d probably fit you fine!).  Because the lashes have little magnets on them, I was afraid to trim them and take off one of the anchoring magnets.

Fortunately, Ardell makes Accent size, the kind that are supposed to emphasize a cat eye look by having shorter lashes toward the inside and longer lashes at the outer end in a “fan” shape. A couple of weeks ago, I finally found the Accent size at my local CVS.

As I mentioned in my first review, the way the Ardell Magnetic Liner & Lash works is by applying Magnetic Gel Liner (included) and then placing the magnetized lashes on top of the liner. BTW, the gel liner is so good and so easy to apply even with the tiny slant brush provided, that I sometimes wear it even without the false lashes!

How do they work? Somehow the magnets stick to the eyeliner. It’s amazing how much easier it is to apply these magnetic lashes than it is regular false lashes or Ardell’s first attempt at magnetic lashes that came with an upper and lower lash that sandwiched  your own eyelashes. At the end of the evening, the new magnetic lashes are so easy to remove and replace in the box till next time. Much easier to remove than glued on lashes.

If I don’t have the energy to take out my fabulous Good Jane’s Mirror (makes a great holiday gift; reviewed here,)

I can almost as easily apply the Ardell Magnetic Liner & Lashes with a regular mirror placed on the table, something I couldn’t do with regular false lashes.

Because I guess my eyes are smaller than average (I never realized that), the Ardell Accent Magnetic Liner & Lash are almost full size on me, lol. Nevertheless, I think they work.

My only complaint is that I wish these and all false lashes were a little less long (meaning, the individual lashes). It looks like my eyes have wings, lol!

Because so few women wear any makeup where I live in suburban Boston, I feel like I stand out a little too much when I wear false lashes primarily because the lashes are so long and beautifully fluttery! I don’t want to trim these lashes because they are so perfectly curled, and I’m afraid I will ruin them. I almost decided to wear the Accent lashes on Saturday night to a holiday party at the synagogue, but I chickened out. In the end, I think I made the right decision not to wear them. I hope I’ll have a suitably festive occasion to wear them again soon, rather than just wearing them around my house, lol. New Year’s Eve, maybe?

As I mentioned above, I bought my Ardell Magnetic Liner & Lashes, Accent style from CVS when they had a big display that has since disappeared from my store. I bought my first pair of Wispies at Ulta. I don’t remember what I paid for either one because I used coupons to buy both, but the MSRP is $15.

Where and when do you wear false lashes? I need some inspiration! And have you tried Ardell’s new Magnetic Lashes?

  1. I’ve been dying to try a magnetic type false lash — I also ALWAYS have to trim lash strips because they are too long. And I agree. Shorter lengths would be welcome. Sometimes it feels to vavavoom! LOL But these seem worthwhile for trying out!

Ok…between you and Miranda’s reviews I am going to purchase these! After the bitter cold 🥶 departs from my area on Friday I am off to Ulta (still have my 20% coupon to use). I have never used eye liner on my top lashes so I am nervous about getting it straight. Plan to purchase and try a low cost eyeliner to practice with first.

    1. Sandy, trust me, you don’t need to buy an eyeliner to practice with. The gel eyeliner that is included in the kit is so easy to use even for someone who isn’t used to applying eyeliner. There’s a little slant tip brush that you can practice with when you get the kit before you put any gel on it, just to get the feel of it along your upper lid. The gel itself is one of the smoothest gel liners I have ever used. The little pot has so much gel in it, you can practice with it when you get it. I found that it is so easy to stay super close to the lash line with the little brush that is included, that I haven’t even switched to one of my more expensive larger slant brushes. Let me know what you think when you get them! I think they are definitely fun. And for me with my smaller eyes, the Accent style is definitely the way to go.

  8. Boy, am I late to this game. I just purchased these (though didn’t find the ‘accent’ size) yesterday. Tried them put and LOVE them. I’ve never been a falsies girl, but as I’ve aged (54), I find my lashes don’t hold a nice curl all day. And by the end of a work day, I’ve got smudge from my mascara. Thought falsies might eliminate the need for mascara and keep their shape.

I did trim- a magnet right in half to adjust length – and trimmed out about a fourth of the lashes at the base, and a bit off the ends. I LOVE these. Think they are a game changer…and after all the trimming, an everyday option.

Thanks for the really helpful review!

  9. Yay, I am so glad you discovered the Ardell magnetic lashes, Terry! They are a game changer, right? Now if only I had someplace to wear them, these days 😉 Hopefully by next holiday season! Keep your eyes peeled for the Accents. I have seen them at Ulta and occasionally at CVS.
