Glam Polish “We Will Rock You 2.0”, Glitter Galore

Last month, I showed you one of my first polish purchases from Australian indie brand, Glam Polish, Heffalumps and Woozles (reviewed and swatched here) from the Hundred Acre Wood collection that came out in February, I think. It is a sweet glitter-filled off-white polish. It reminds me of a confetti-filled angel food cake. Cute. Perfect to wear to a birthday party.

The second bottle, We Will Rock You 2.0 – in the spirit of Bohemian Rhapsody – is a limited edition that came out in January. WWRU2.0 is a black-based polish with multi-colored iridescent glitter and pastel round flakes. The background black seems to be a crelly. The first coat is quite sheer and it looks grey rather than black. The second coat provides full coverage, and it turns the look black. The glitter and the flakes go on perfectly: they are well-distributed throughout the nail with no special care required.

The brush is on the small side. Though I usually prefer wider brushes, I must admit that this narrow brush makes application neat and easy.

Usually I make a mess applying dark polishes, but I had such an easy time applying this one  – no mishaps that required cleaning afterwards. Yay!

The polish dries in a flash. I mean in a minute. I love that.

I started out with Morgan Taylor REACT No-Light Extended Wear Base Coat before applying We Will Rock You 2.0. Then I followed up with a coat of my favorite Cuccio 7 Second Reactive Top Coat. The instructions suggested applying two coats in order to get a completely smooth finish, and I did that because one coat did not feel completely smooth.

The polish has been wearing well. However, I learned that it’s important to apply the polish to the edge of the nail tip. The first time I applied the polish, I forgot to do that. After a day or so, the polish looked great but it seemed to shrink back a bit from the tip of my nails. One trial learning – I make sure to apply to the nail edge since then.

Although there’s a lot of glitter and flakes in this polish, it’s not too bad to remove. I use Zoya Big Flipper Nail Polish Remover on cotton pads. I wet the pad well and let it sit on the nail for at least 30 seconds to loosen the glitter. It works! It does take a little longer to remove than a regular cream or jelly polish with no glitter, but it’s not really difficult. I think it’s worth a little bit of extra time.

Glam Polish “We Will Rock You 2.0” is priced at $12.50. As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, it’s a limited edition – but I don’t know how long it will be available. It’s still available now! I don’t remember how much the shipping was, but it wasn’t hugely expensive or, you know me, I wouldn’t have done it. Plus, the polishes arrived in two days!

Good Morning Allison. I’m really liking “We Will Rock You” and the homage to Freddie and Queen only makes me like it more 🙂 . I’m so glad you included that it goes on evenly when you apply 2 coats. I recently bought an Adesse polish for $20(a big splurge for me) in a pretty glitter pink color. I’m not a pink polish gal but it looked gorgeous on the models nails….anyway I had to tap the brush along my nail to distribute the glitter without having bare spaces and doing that made it so thick getting it off was much more of a chore than I care to do. I would never have tried one again without knowing you can actually polish your nails normally and get such a professional, gorgeous look like you have. I may just give them a try. I’ve been considering the Zoya Big Flipper for over a year, are you a big fan? I’ve heard you mention the Cuccio 7 second top coat and may just give it a try,I’m currently using Julep’s TA DA drops and I do love them but it’s always fun to try something new and to have a back up. Have a great day! XO

    1. I’m staring at We Will Rock You 2.0 on my nails right now, in fact, Laura! I had no idea that Adesse polish was so pricey. I own a couple of bottles, but I got them in Ipsy bags or boxes and I had no idea what they cost. I do like that brand, however. I thought $12.50 for Glam Polish was at the top of my range 😉 The key benefits of the two Glam Polishes I’ve tried so far are: 1) truly easy and neat application 2) the glitter goes on evenly with no fuss whatsoever 3) dries in a flash, for real 4) not terrible to remove. I have tried removing it with remover in a tub from CVS that contains some acetone as well as with Zoya Big Flipper, and the Zoya wins hands down. I was surprised that the CVS remover was almost ineffective on this polish. It does require really wetting the cotton pad with Zoya and letting it sit on the nail for about 30 seconds, but it does come off without too much trouble. Obviously, it does take more time than removing a non-glitter polish, but I think it’s worth it 🙂 Enjoy the weekend!

  2. What a fun polish! I like wearing black and the glitter makes it a little more
    “wearable” for me!

    1. Definitely, I don’t usually wear a plain black polish – they’re good for nail art but too weird on their own for me. I love the iridescent glitter and circular flakes in this one

  3. Ok I need that glitter!!! I’m running to Glam Polish site now!

    1. I love this polish, but if you do go to the Glam Polish site, take a look at the new Rainbows and Moonbeams collection too!

      1. My nail tech uses Seche Vite. Her bottles are pretty fresh since she goes through them quickly. I like the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel topcoat for everything.

        1. Thank you, Marcia! Michelle from EhmKay Nails commented that she uses an indie topcoat with indie polishes because she thought commercial topcoats caused polish shrinkage. I really love the topcoat I’ve been using for a while now, Cuccio 7 Second, but Michelle was thinking that I should try a topcoat from an indie brand like KB Shimmer. Wondered if you had ever had that issue when you wear indie polishes, but it sounds like you haven’t. I have Seche Vite too, so maybe next time I’ll try it before I buy the KB Shimmer topcoat. Thanks again!

I like that it dries fast! I love Queen, Freddie M and the movie!

    1. superfast – the fastest drying polish I’ve ever used

  5. I haven’t bought a Glam in awhile but I have one on my desk right now that I’m so stoked to wear. She makes some unique polishes!

  6. Ehmkay Nails says:

I find that mainstream top coats shrink my indie polishes. I love KBShimmer clearly on top and have never had a shrinkage problem. Love how the glitters pop off the black base

  7. You and I have become enamored of the indie polishes. This is such a pretty one. Party ready. I’m sure I have Glam Polish in my huge collection so it’s time to find whatever I might have and wear them.

    1. Marcia, which topcoat do you use when you wear indie polishes? EhmKay just suggested that the shrinkage that I experienced may be do to using a mainstream topcoat, Cuccio (that I love)

      1. I think this may be a double. My nail tech uses Seche Vite. I use Sally Hansen Miracle Gel’s top coat.

  8. Jen Walker says:

Wrapping tips definitely helps prevent shrinkage, although sometimes its just finding a good combination that works. I totally dig this polish!!

    1. Thanks, Jen! I went back and wrapped the tips, and even doing it after the fact helped. However, I had side shrinkage a couple of days later. I think what you said about finding the combo that works makes a lot of sense. Next time I use this brand, I’ll wrap and use one of the other topcoats I own.

  9. It’s been awhile since I dabbled in glitter nails but this line looks so dang good on you, it makes me want to dig out all my glittery polishes!

  10. I hate applying polish to the nail edge on my own nails. I don’t wear fake nails and when I do a fresh mani I usually trim my nails so when I do it it ALWAYS gets on my finger as well. *sigh* I love seeing your trial and errors and see how you are picking things up and learning! <3

    1. Thank you, Cassie. I am learning by trial and error! Do you use indie topcoats on indie polishes? Have you seen that it makes a difference?

      1. Not really. I have three favorite top coats and I find that those three work best for me no matter what polish I’m using. One and two are very similar except one is no longer purchasable. Those are the Formula X The System Top Coat and OPI Plumping Top Coat. Those work on just about ANY polish. However, they do not work on Zoya polishes and polishes that tend to be similar in formula. For those I like to use the Zoya top coat. 🙂

        1. Thanks, Cassie!

  11. Kristina says:

Ohh, I really like this one. More so than the white one.

    1. me too – the black, iridescent glitter and pastel dots are so beautiful in person. In the sunlight, it’s amazing!

Loved the theme of this collection! And the names, because I mean its music related which I LOVE!

    1. I think you were the one who introduced me to these shades from Glam Polish. Thank you! I love the music theme too

  13. What a lovely duo! I really like both of these.

    1. I agree! I think there color range overall is beautiful and varied.

  14. My Nail Polish Obsession says:

These types of polish are my favorite. Love the glitter peeking through the crelly base.

  15. I love glitters like this!
