Glossybox October 2016

I just received my second Glossybox!

Last month, I got the gorgeous “Secret Garden” Glossybox illustrated by Antonio Soares. The October Glossybox came in their traditional box that features one of my favorite color combinations: blush pink and black.

Inside, the products were wrapped in blush pink tissue paper tied with a black grosgrain ribbon. Included was a product brochure describing each of the cosmetics. For October, I received 3 full size products and 2 deluxe samples.

Here’s what I got:

cosmetics inside the October 2016 Glossybox neversaydiebeauty.com

  • Decleor Aromessence Neroli Hydrating Oil Serum, deluxe sample 0.017 oz. worth $24: I’m a big fan of Decleor so I was happy to get to try out this pricey serum (full size 0.50 oz. $73). The Neroli oil definitely smells like neroli, an herbalish scent that I like. Did you know that it takes 1000 pounds of orange blossom flowers to make one pound of neroli oil? I sure didn’t. I didn’t even know that neroli oil came from orange blossom flowers! The 100% natural oil is made up of hazelnut oil with neroli, sandalwood and petitgrain essential oils. It’s lightweight enough to use during the day or at night. Love it!
  • Masque Bar by Look Beauty Brightening Sheet Mask, deluxe sample 1 mask worth $3.33: I haven’t tried this sheet mask yet and the brand is new to me, but I’m looking forward to using this Korean sheet mask. This mask is supposed to be left on for 20-30 minutes and it contains soothing and brightening ingredients. The full size ($10) contains 3 masks.
  • Unani Il-Illuminating Milk Cleanser, full size 6.7 fl. oz. $18: The first thing I noticed is that this facial cleanser is from Spain! Jeff and I went to Spain 4 years ago, and it was a fabulous trip. I bought sea sponges to bring home but I didn’t think of buying cosmetics. Glad to get to try this. This milky cleanser looks perfect for the cooler weather. It has a very light and appealing floral scent.
  • OGX Fight Fallout Niacin3 & Caffeine Root Stimulator Spray, full size 4 fl. oz. $8: My hair has been falling out lately. I attributed it to the change in season, but it has been disturbing. OGX is a very good haircare brand. The directions say to spray it onto the scalp, roots of the hair while hair is damp. Then it says to use it twice a day which I know I don’t do. I only wash my hair every 4 days so I’m not sure it’ll work with me not using it more frequently. Maybe I should give it away during my upcoming haircare giveaway. For someone who washes their hair everyday, it might be terrific. It’s an intriguing product, at any rate.
  • Emite Lip & Cheek Tint, full size 0.2 fl. oz. $19: I like this kind of lip/cheek tint that’s like Benetint and gives a buildable flush of color. I also tried one from theBalm, and I like this one sooooo much better. It gives lips and cheeks a natural-looking flush. On my lips, it doesn’t do the ombre-thing that theBalm does and it doesn’t dry out my lips. Much better! Also, I like that this one comes in a slim tube with a wand applicator with a doe-foot. After applying, it’s meant to be blended out with fingers. I like it. I’ll be using this for sure.

Adding up the cost of the items in the box, this month’s Glossybox is worth $72.33. Good deal! I like that Glossybox gives more full size items including prestige brands and interesting indie brands. A friend who I met  on my blog told me last week she was considering subscribing to either Glossybox or Birchbox. Though Glossybox is a few dollars more expensive than Birchbox, it is without a doubt a better choice IMHO. It’s a better value. Birchbox is almost always filled only with deluxe samples, and it leans heavily to skincare, haircare products and fragrance samples. Glossybox, on the other hand, leans toward full size products and provides a better mix of cosmetics with more makeup. Check out the different options for a Glossybox subscription here. There’s a monthly, 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months plan. The longer period you subscribe for the lower the price, but you can cancel at any time.

In this month’s product brochure, we got a sneak peek of next month’s Holiday Box. Although I didn’t see the products, the box itself is so pretty and festive. I can hardly wait!

If you decide to subscribe, I’d be grateful if you’d use my referral link here. xoxo

Would any of this month’s Glossybox products suit you?

  1. Glossybox is wayyyyy better than Birchbox and I hope your friend made a wise choice in the end. I am not too impressed with this Glossybox but it’s down to my own personal preference as I prefer makeup over skincare or haircare. I can’t deny that it’s a great value though!

    1. This is only my second Glossybox, and I was thrilled that they kept me on the list this month! I agree that this box wasn’t quite as good as last month that had all full size products and more makeup, but I figure like all of the subbie boxes, some months are better than others. I really like the Spanish full size cleansing milk. It’s really nice, and it’ll be good through the winter. The Emite lip tint is great. Doesn’t ombre and bleed or dry out my lips like the one from theBalm, so I’m a happy camper with this one – my new around-the-house lip color 🙂

  2. I am intrigued by the Unani Cleanser! I may need to order a Glossybox or two because they seem to consistently offer more full size products! I would be quite pleased with this box!

    1. I really like the Spanish Unani Cleanser, Helen! It has a lovely light floral scent, and it feels very European 🙂 It’ll be perfect from now through the winter for me. Last month, the Secret Garden box was quite amazing because I got 6 items and I think 5 of them were full size. Next month is another special box so I’m guessing there’ll be more full size items in that box too. I’m satisfied with this box. The Emite lip tint is really good – so much better than the one I got from theBalm – not drying, doesn’t bleed, no ombre effect, nice everyday shade!

  3. What a fabulous box! I love that sheet mask.

  5. The Jedi Wife says:

Glossybox is so much better than Birchbox! I always felt so cheated with the tiny sample sizes, and I remember one month one of the items was a freaking sandwich bag. -_-

    1. OMG, that’s so funny! I have a gift subscription to Birchbox that will end in December, and I won’t miss it. I got turned on to two great products through those tiny samples, but that’s it. There’s way too much skincare and haircare and not enough makeup. I should be grateful that I didn’t get the sandwich bag, lol

  6. I’m such a product junkie, this is an awesome box! Great high end products!

    1. The Emite lip & cheek stain is great! Not drying, no ombre ring around my outer lips, no bleeding. Yay! And I love the Cleansing Milk from Spain. So far, a fun box!

  7. I see what you mean by international goodies, Allison! I’m really intrigued by the Milk Cleanser!

    1. The Unani Milk Cleanser from Spain is great. It’s something I never would have found on my own. Now I wish I had done more cosmetics shopping when we were in Spain

  9. It’s a nice box overall although I would’ve preferred more makeups

    1. Don’t we all, lol! I am a fan of liquid lip & cheek stains, so I was happy to get this one from Emite coz it’s soooooooo much better than the one I own from theBalm. I’m curious about next month’s special Holiday Box – very fancy-looking for the holidays – so I have high hopes for the contents too

  10. While this particular box doesn’t offer a lot of wow (like you said, personal preference), I’ve heard amazing things about Glossy box and am definitely tempted to give it a try.

    1. You’re right, Brianna, that this Glossybox doesn’t have quite the wow factor that last month’s Secret Garden box did, I’m still delighted by two of the products that I’ve tried so far: the fabulous Emite Lip & Cheek Stain that is soooooooooo much better than the one I have from theBalm, and I love the Unani Milk Cleanser from Spain that’ll be great for me to use into the cold months. Next month is a really pretty looking Holiday Box, so keep an eye out to see what you think about that one! I’ve found that all of my subscriptions vary so much from month to month in terms of the wow factor that I evaluate them on a yearly basis, lol 🙂

  11. I’ve always liked the stuff that comes in the Glossyboxes! It’s a great selection of products!

  12. What a great GlossyBox! I found they were one of the most consistent when I subscribed.

    1. That’s good to know, Bailey. Last month’s special Glossybox was great, and this one was good – love the lip & cheek stain and the cleanser so far. Curious to see next month’s Holiday Box

  13. Glossybox is the one other subscription box I’d consider trying.

    1. I loved last month’s box, and this one was good enough. So far, I love the lip & cheek stain and the cleanser from Spain. I just don’t know whether to try the root spray or give it away. Washing my hair only every 4 days, I know I won’t use it on my roots twice a day. Giveaway pile it is! I’m curious to see what’s in next month’s Holiday Box to really get a sense of the subscription. Like that there are more full sized products.

  14. I may need to resubscribe.

    1. Honey, unfortunately they still don’t ship to Hawaii, Alaska or the U.S. territories 🙁

  16. This looks like a great box, and such good value x

    1. I love the Lip & Cheek Tint and the Milk Cleanser from Spain so far. Last month was even more awesome. Can’t wait till the Holiday Box next month!

  17. I’ve always enjoyed this box! This looks like a great box!

    1. The lip + cheek stain was a real discovery – so much better than the one I have from theBalm. I’ve really enjoyed both boxes I’ve tried so far. Hope I’ll get next month’s Holiday Box

  18. The glossybox looks good!

    1. I love the lip + cheek stain and the milk cleanser so far. Gotta try the rest

  19. Nice mix of stuff! That milk cleanser sounds really nice. Also, I’m happy to know about that lip tint. I really wanted to like the Benefit and theBalm ones, but I just didn’t.

    1. theBalm was the worst. I always ended up with a ring around my lips when I wore it, and it was so drying. The Emite lip & cheek tint is so easy to apply and pleasant to wear. Great for everyday

  20. This looks like an amazing deal!

    1. I think Glossybox really is a good deal especially compared to some of the $10 bags/boxes because you get more full sized items. I’ve been happy with mine so far!
