Gloves In A Bottle SPF 15

I’m sitting around waiting to hear about Jeff’s surgery, and I’m looking for a distraction. How about a product review?

I Bought This, Affiliate Links, Informational Link

When we were at CVS one day last week, I noticed a product called Gloves In A Bottle. Gloves In A Bottle came in two different colored plastic tubes:

I needed a hand lotion or cream with sunscreen. Though I would prefer a higher SPF – either 30 or 50, a hand lotion with SPF 15 is better than the hand cream with no sunscreen that I’m using now. I bought the version with the sunscreen.

So far, I am enjoying Gloves In A Bottle + SPF 15. It’s called a lotion, but it isn’t watery or runny. It’s very easy to apply. It dries in seconds, and it’s greaseless. It doesn’t seem thin, but it actually seems like my hands are lightly coated and protected. My skin feels very smooth, most likely because of the dimethicone in the formula.

The lotion is unscented and I like that a lot since I often wear perfume.

I looked up Gloves In A Bottle since I had never heard of it. Maybe I’m the only one who has never heard of it. It appears that Gloves In A Bottle is often used by nurses in America. In fact, it is sold by the gallon in a big container with a pump. Plus it’s the #1 hand lotion sold on Amazon in Canada.

I believe the reason nurses use Gloves In A Bottle is because it doesn’t wash off, but remains on the skin for between 4-12 hours. Here’s how the product works, according to the GIAB website:

“While conventional moisturizers, lotions and skin creams coat your skin with petroleum or wax-based substances that tend to clog pores and inhibit the skin’s ability to breathe and perspire, Gloves In A Bottle (2) functions so well that the skin breathes and perspires naturally. Because it literally becomes part of the outer layer of skin, it does not wash off like other lotions, but comes off naturally as your skin exfoliates. For continued protection against irritants (1) and toxins (5), simply reapply in 4 — 12 hours. This new outer layer helps prevent the loss of natural oil (3) and moisture (4), supports skin elasticity, and improves the overall ability of the epidermis to protect the inner skin cell layers. The natural moisturizing effects of Gloves In A Bottle will leave your skin soft and supple!”

Gloves In A Bottle is:

  • vegan
  • cruelty-free
  • dermatologist-tested and recommended.

It is free of:

  • parabens, phthalates, triclosan, sodium laurel sulfate (SLS), sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), formaldehyde, toluene, propylene glycol, salicylates, gluten, latex, dairy, wheat, soy, peas, corn, added fragrance, colorants, peanuts, and other nuts.

Also, something else I noticed but I’m not sure about yet. I have seasonal exfoliative keratolysis where my skin dries, cracks and bleeds. It usually occurs on my thumbs between May and September. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that it was starting to come back for 2022. Since I started using Gloves In A Bottle, it seems to have retreated. It is recommended for eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, cracked and bleeding skin, so maybe it is not my imagination.

So far, I recommend Gloves In A Bottle + SPF 15. I bought the TSA-friendly size tube with 3.4 fl. oz. at CVS for $7.98. It’s supposed to hold about 100 applications. On the GIAB website, Gloves In A Bottle + SPF 15 is priced at $15.98. I wonder if CVS is discontinuing it. Gloves In A Bottle is also sold at Walgreens, Target, Walmart, Ace Hardware, and Amazon. The prices seem to vary widely by retailer.

  1. This sounds like a really good hand cream, and I like that they thought to add sunscreen. However, like you, I wish that it had a higher SPF.

  2. This is my favorite hand cream. I didn’t know they made an SPF version but I’ll get this. I wash my hands a LOT and Gloves in a Bottle withstands those many washings. The regular version doesn’t feel like a hand cream, it feels like a protectant. I’ve read that can be off-putting to some people but I love how it feels. Best is that there’s no fragrance.

    1. As I wrote, I’m probably the only person who didn’t know about Gloves In A Bottle! I’m glad to know that you’re a fan of the original formula. I will give that one a try next!

Oh my gosh! I truly need to try this!!!
How is Jeff? And how are you?

    1. Hi Gabrielle! I really like Gloves in a Bottle, and I would love it even more if it had a higher SPF. But better than the no sunscreen hand creams I typically use. Thanks for asking about Jeff. It’s been 9 days since the surgery. They couldn’t use his veins in the bypass because they were too narrow. Instead, they used a tube or artificial artery. He’s been home for about 5 days (after being in the hospital for about 2 weeks), and we thought he was doing pretty well, but the 3rd visiting nurse noticed a lump near one of the incisions that shouldn’t be there, and his other incision is still weeping a lot. He is trying to get a hold of his surgeon to see if he can be seen, but he wasn’t able to get through to anyone. We’re both very stressed out about the situation. Hope all’s well with you and you have a nice holiday weekend xo

        1. Thank you, Gabrielle! Hope you are having a good weekend xo
