Gold Mountain Beauty: Cruelty-free Affordable Natural Skincare Products

Being a beauty blogger has given me the opportunity to try out a lot of indie beauty brands that I probably wouldn’t have bought before I became a blogger. Although I was adventurous when it came to trying foreign brands especially when traveling abroad, at home I was risk averse. I mostly stuck with well-known brands. How much I missed back in those days!

Recently, I was given the opportunity to try three products from Gold Mountain Beauty, a new-to-me brand. Gold Mountain Beauty’s products are  cruelty-free, eco-friendly and made from natural and organic ingredients. In addition, at least two of three products that I have been using are also vegan.

What really surprised me is that Gold Mountain Beauty is based in Boston, right on Milk Street for you local folks. Who knew?

I tried three of their facial skincare products, but Gold Mountain Beauty has their fingers in a lot of pies, so to speak. They also make:

  • oral care
  • foot therapy
  • self-tanning
  • and CBD products.

Organic Rosehip Oil and Gold Dust Elixir

bottle of Gold Mountain Beauty Organic Rosehip Oil and Gold Dust Elixir in a gold dropper bottle

I included Gold Mountain Beauty Organic Rosehip Oil and Gold Dust Elixir in a post I did a couple of weeks ago on my favorite face oils for winter. But let me tell you more about it.

I fell for GMB Organic Rosehip Oil and Gold Dust the very first time I used it. It makes my skin feel like velvet because it contains dimethicone and a couple of similar ingredients.  So if you can’t use dimethicone on your skin, you should pass on this. But if you can, I can’t recommend this luxurious elixir more strongly. Though I have other pure oils that I love, I have been reaching for this one almost to the exclusion of all others because of the incredible smoothness it creates.

As you would expect, Organic Rosehip Oil and Gold Dust Elixir is also excellent for hair because the silicones leave hair silky smooth.

Rosehip oil made from rose seeds is loaded with vitamins/antioxidants and essential fatty acids that nourish skin and hair. The fine gold dust that you can see a bit in the oil when it’s in the dropper helps give skin a radiant glow. My skin feels nourished, hydrated and velvety smooth after pressing a few drops into my face and neck. In addition to promoting hydration and radiance, the elixir helps diminish fine lines and wrinkles and uneven skin tone.

Organic Rosehip Oil and Gold Dust Elixir has a very faint rose scent that I can only smell if I sniff the opening of the bottle. In fact, I think even my friend Marcia who can’t tolerate scents could handle this.

The elixir is lightweight and gets absorbed quickly. You’re only supposed to use a few drops, but because I love it so much, I sometimes get carried away and use more than I need.

It comes in a glass bottle covered with a gold plastic outer covering that makes the bottle look very luxe. As I mentioned before, it has a glass dropper.

I was expecting Gold Mountain Beauty Organic Rosehip Oil and Gold Dust Elixir to be very pricey, what with the organic rosehip oil, gold dust in the formula and the pretty gold bottle. I was very surprised and happy when I went to the Gold Mountain Beauty website and discovered that the price is $14.99 for 1 fl. oz./30 ml! Truly, I was expecting it to cost a lot more.

Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Cyclomethicone, Dimethiconol, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Silica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange), Oil Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Rosa Rubiginosa (Rosehip) Oil, Gold Flakes, Fragrance

Anti-Aging Capsules

The Anti-Aging Capsules were also a surprise. When I first heard about them, I thought they were supplements. Instead, they are small golden plastic ampules that contains a rich gel-cream made with vitamin E and aloe vera to hydrate the skin, reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and promote elasticity. They are perfect for night time use. And each ampule contains more than enough for my face, neck and hands. It feels protective and nourishing.

My key nitpick is that they are jasmine scented (I think that’s what it is), and it is a strong scent that takes a while to dissipate. I love the feel of the Anti-aging Capsule’s cream on my skin, and I would use them every night if they were either fragrance-free or lightly scented with fragrance other than jasmine. And while I’m nitpicking, it would be great if they could remove the preservative propylparaben too.

The capsules are nestled together in a lovely clear, heavy plastic jar with gold accents. Again, I was amazed when I discovered the jar of 30 Anti-Aging Capsules is priced at $9.99.

Ingredients: Aloe Vera Gel, Gelatin, Mineral Oil, Vitamin E, Glycerin, Purified Water, Isopropyl, Myristate, Mica Titanium Dioxide, Fragrance, Propylparaben

Rose Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid and Diamond Dust

I’m a sucker for anything pink, so I instantly fell in love with Gold Mountain Beauty Rose Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid and Diamond Dust. I think it’s called Rose Moisturizer because of the pale pink color and the ever-so-faint rose scent.

The moisturizer is what I would describe as medium weight – richly hydrating, but quick absorbing and non-greasy. It contains coconut oil, glycerin and aloe vera that make it feel nourishing but not at all heavy.

It also contains sodium hyaluronate (the form of hyaluronic acid that is small enough to penetrate the skin) for deep hydration and resveratrol that works on the cellular level to repair and fight aging.

The moisturizer gives me a subtle glow, but the effect of the diamond dust is not like a highlighter which is fine with me 😉

I really love GMB Rose Moisturizer. It’s just so darn pretty and perfect. In its clear, heavy plastic jar, it looks so lovely and feminine. It contains 1.7 fl. oz./30 ml and is priced at an affordable $20.50.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid), Isopropyl Myristate, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Glycerin,  Stearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ceteareth 20, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera), Gel, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Imidazolidinyl Urea, EDTA, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Triethanolamine, Resveratrol, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Calendula Officinalis (Calendula) Extract, Diamond Dust, Red #40

Good review and a line of skincare I will definitely check out. I just started using Indie brands. My latest find is Moody Sisters. Very affordable and you can get samples to try before you buy. I got samples of four different shades of their liquid mineral foundation. Also 3 samples of loose mineral eyeshadows. I think the total for the samples and shipping was around $10-12. Check them out.

Skincare products should go easy on fragrance because that’s a potential irritant. The packaging though looks so luxe
