Have You Tried A Rubber Mask? Masqueology Intensive Moisturizing Two-Step Rubber Mask

I’m not the biggest fan of sheet masks though I do use them from time to time because they provide such variety. My complaint with the paper sheet masks is that they don’t stay put on my face unless I lie down, and they don’t fit me so well.

So when I received a new sheet mask from the folks at Masqueology, I pretty much put it aside without investigating it first. Mistake on my part.

Have you ever tried a rubber sheet mask? I never knew there was such a thing, but for me, it is a game changer!

I should have known. Masqueology makes the wonderful 24K Gold Under Eye Gels  (reviewed here) made from a gel-like rubbery material. When I put them on, they stay put.

So what about the sheet mask, you ask? Masqueology Intensive Moisturizing Rubber Mask is a very cool skincare product for a number of reasons.

It’s a two-step mask, and I had never heard of that before. At the top of the package, there’s a pouch that contains Intensive Cream, a fluffy white cream, that you apply first. I applied it in a thin layer all over my face, and there was just enough to cover the area well.

Next, I opened the bottom of the package and took out the two-part powder blue rubber mask that’s kind of wet with another product on it. I was afraid that the mask would be heavy and hard to put on, but it was the easiest to apply two-part face mask I’ve ever worn.

Plus once it was on, it was on. It stayed on my face so well that I could have done whatever I needed to do. But after straightening up the bathroom, I decided to relax and watch part of a cooking show. The instructions say to leave the mask on for 15-30 minutes. I left the mask on for the full 30 minutes because it was so relaxing.

The mask gives the skin a cooling sensation. I’m not sure if that cooling feeling is from the skincare products or from the rubber itself, but it felt very nice.

After a half hour, I removed the rubber mask. With some sheet masks, a lot of liquid/cream remains behind on my skin. But with Masqueology Rubber Mask, the skincare products seems to be well absorbed by my skin. My face was still lightly coated but not overly so. I felt very refreshed, and my skin felt nicely hydrated.

Masqueology Rubber Mask is a moisturizing mask with hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, i.e. hyaluronic acid that’s broken down into smaller bits. HA can penetrate deep into the layers of the skin to attract, maintain and hold water giving skin a plumped look and a moisturized feeling. Masqueology seems to suggest that the rubber mask “helps stimulate and shield the skin to help deliver the ingredients deep into the skin for maximum hydration”. I don’t know if the mask actually helps accomplish that better than a regular paper sheet mask, but I had excellent results. Importantly, the rubber mask was certainly easier to apply and wear than a paper mask. I’m all for it. I want another one!

I love the paper mask and I have tried a lot of different ones. Never had a problem with them slipping off. I usually just lean back in my recliner for 30 minutes or so. This rubber one sounds really interesting, would love to try it.

    1. Do you have a particular brand of paper masks that you really like, Gloria, that I should look for? For some reason, some of the ones I’ve tried are too big for my face and kind of flimsy, but others have been fine. At any rate, I really liked this rubber mask with the “extra” intensive cream. For $4, I’m going to pick up another one next time I’m near Walmart. I think you’d enjoy trying it! It’s different in a good way 🙂

My favorite is .. SKEDERM SNAIL JELLY MASK

The first time I tried it, all I thought about was snail secretion on my face. My feels so hydrated after using it and there is always product left in the envelope. I save it and a hour or so later I rub the rest of it on my face. So double moisturizing. ALL of the SKEDERM products are worth trying. My favorite is Hydration Gel-cream and it really works for me.

      1. I will have to track down Skederm, Gloria. I like snail jelly. I’ve used some snail jelly Korean masks that I’ve bought at HMart, and there is snail jelly in a few skincare products that I’ve used over the years. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Oooo! This mask seems interesting! I am not the biggest fan of two parts mask but if you find this easier than most to apply then I’m willing to give it a try!

  4. This seems like a great mask to try! The only rubber masks I’ve tried are the ones that you have to mx yourself and that turn into rubber. This seems like a great product for the money AND the fact that it actually makes you want to sit down and relax is an added benefit!

    1. Oh, I haven’t tried one of the other type of rubber masks, but I probably should have mentioned the difference. This rubber mask was so darn easy to apply, and it worked so well! Worth the $4!

  5. I’ve heard of the rubber under eye patches, but not a full rubber mask! I agree… paper masks never seem to sit right on my face. This looks and sounds really soothing, though. I’ll have to look for it next time I need something from Walmart.
