Hey Honey: Hydration for Hands and Feet

Dry hands and feet are a year-round affliction for me, so I am always in the market for good hand cream and foot cream. Let me tell you about two that I’ve been using lately from Hey Honey, a woman-owned, cruelty-free brand from Colorado that features honey and propolis in their products.

Propolis, called “bee glue” by some, is a resinous material created by bees from the resin collected from the buds of poplar and conifer trees, and it’s found in small quantities in honey. It’s rich in the antioxidants called flavinoids, and it is known for its health benefits. Propolis has anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor properties. It is used as a natural healing ingredient in creams and ointments.

I used up the travel size tube of Hey Honey Walk the Walk Foot Cream that I bought a few months ago from Ipsy, so I checked out the Hey Honey website to buy some more. They were either having a sale or I got 20% off by clicking through Ipsy.

I bought the Hands On Hand Cream in a duo called Hands and Feet Duet that is a limited edition for Holiday 2021 that also contained a full size tub of Hey Honey Walk the Walk Foot Cream.

I bought a separate tub of Walk the Walk probably to qualify for free shipping that kicks in at $50.

Hey Honey Hands On Honey & Propolis Hand Cream

Here’s what Hey Honey has to say about Hands On:

A Honey and Bee Propolis hand and elbow cream that treats cracked dry and itchy skin. Softens and protects skin from cracking, delivering a luxurious after-feel that is non-greasy. Ideal for All Skin Types.

Hands On is a rich but light-feeling white cream that sinks into skin on contact but creates a protective barrier on the skin. It isn’t greasy at all. It is long-lasting. I use it every night  before bed and, if I have been washing my hands a lot, during the day too. I love the easy to use tube that it comes in.

I really like how Hands On performs in terms of hydrating and protecting my hands because it’s loaded with traditional hydrators ). I think it will be great for fall and winter.

Interestingly, the folks at Hey Honey state on the website that the propolis in Hands On acts as an anti-bacterial agent – I assume to protect hands against germs.

Though I like how the hand cream itself, truthfully, I am not a big fan of the fresh scent of Hey Honey’s hand cream. The fragrance does fade after a while, and it’s certainly not a bad fragrance. It’s just not my kind of preferred scent. If you like a fresh, clean scent, you would probably like it.

The tube of Hey Honey Hands On Honey & Propolis Hand Cream contains 2.2 oz./70 ml. The price is $18.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-40 Stearate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Dicaprylyl Ether, Octyldodecanol, Isopropyl Myristate, Sorbitan Tristearate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Polygonum Aviculare (Knotweed) Extract, Honey Extract, Maris Sal (Sea Salt), Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Propolis Extract, Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Allantoin, Chlorphenesin, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Beta-Sitosterol, Squalene, Parfum (Fragrance).

Hey Honey Walk the Walk Propolis Foot & Heel Repair Cream

I mentioned Walk the Walk in one of my recent Project Pan Beauty Empties posts. As I said above, I bought the travel size as an Ipsy Add-on, and I think it’s the best foot cream I have ever used.

Here’s the description:

A highly effective foot balm that helps to restore cracked heels and dry feet after just one use. Infused with Bee Propolis, Sage and Basil this one-of-a-kind foot cream also helps to fight off foot odors and soothes aching, itchy and tired feet.

Walk the Walk is a rich, thick, white balm with a lot of slip to it. I put it on at night before bed with a pair of cotton socks over it. It feels very refreshing as well as hydrating. The next morning my feet always feel hydrated and soft.

The scent of Walk the Walk is herbal, I assume from all the natural oils in the balm. I actually like this scent! And there’s no added fragrance like there is in the hand cream.

My only slight complaint with Walk the Walk is that it’s in a tub and not in a tube. I loved the travel size tube because I could squeeze out just the amount I needed. With the tub/jar, it’s not quite as sanitary (I could use a scoop), but I always wash my hands before using it. Also with the tub, I don’t feel that I have as much control over how much I scoop out than I did with the tube. Oh well, not a deal breaker but a wish.

The Walk the Walk Foot & Heal Repair Cream tub contains 5.07 oz./150 ml, and it’s priced at $30.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Octyldodecanol, PEG-40 Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sorbitan Tristearate, Polygonum Aviculare (Knotweed) Extract, Propolis Extract, Allantoin, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopherol, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Commiphora Myrrha (Myrrh) Resin Extract, Squalene, Beta-Sitosterol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Cinnamomum Camphora Bark Oil, Cymbopogon Martini Oil, Salvia Sclarea (Clary) Oil, Juniperus Virginiana Wood Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Parfum (Fragrance), Limonene, Linalool.

Final Thoughts

Though the propolis in both the hand cream and foot cream is there more for its anti-bacterial properties and not for healing and hydration, there are plenty of traditional natural hydrators in both products. And they both do an excellent job softening, hydrating, and protecting my hands and feet. Walk the Walk is a keeper for me (it better be because I bought two big tubs of it!), but because the scent of Hands On doesn’t really appeal to me, I will probably go back to my favorite hand creams from RITUALS with the fabulous fragrances.

The next time I need to buy Hey Honey products (I love a number of their products), I will check Ulta, Macy’s and Lovelyskin to see if I can use their frequent coupon codes as well as pick it up in store or get free shipping instead of shopping the Hey Honey website.
