I was all set to write one of my traditional posts, but I changed my mind. A sister blogger shared an article on her Facebook feed today that she found helpful. After reading it, I did, too!
If you’re of a certain age like I am, you may remember the newspaper column that your mom used to read, Helpful Hints from Heloise? Well, this article is similar. There are about a zillion household and handy tips in this article, some that I knew but many that I didn’t. I thought I would share it with you because you never know when one of these hacks might come in handy! Take a look 🙂
The name of the article is “Everyday Items We’ve Been Using Wrong The Whole Time”. Frankly, many of the tips aren’t things that I was using wrong, I just wasn’t using them at all because I never knew about them. Many are item features or components that I never noticed. Plus some of them are really eye-opening and useful.
Let me know if any of these tips are worth trying for you! I don’t want to influence you, so I’ll tell you later which ones that I think will help me!
I knew most of them…yep, I am old and have read her hints for years. But there were two that I had never heard of. The first one is using the hole on your sauce pan or fry pan handle to thread your spoon through. The second one is using the hole in your spaghetti spoon to measure the dry pasta. Good hints
Thank you for reading it, Sandy, and for letting me know which tips you thought were helpful! I picked the exact same ones (although I told Jeff he needs to get wood/cedar hangers for his sweaters so the moths won’t get them). Tonight, the two saucepans I used didn’t have the holes for spoon handles, but I know that my larger sautés pans do. I thought the holes were for hanging up the pan! Oh, I also liked the tip about using a bottle opener to open flip top cans 🙂
