Today is a dreary, almost completely dark day with pouring rain. It’s tough to be stuck in the house. So I am cheering myself up with turquoise. I’m never sure what the difference between turquoise and aqua is, but I don’t think it matters.
Zoya Lillian
Probably because I haven’t been bothering to wear makeup, I have become very interested in nail polish. I hardly wore any nail polish all winter, but lately I’ve been wearing it frequently. I decided I wanted to wear something spring-y to follow the red I was sporting earlier in the week. I looked at the pastels in my stash, and I decided on Zoya Lillian, a mini bottle, that I bought three years ago, I think, during one of Zoya’s spring promotions. They describe Lillian as a cool-toned “faded aquamarine” cream with a glossy finish. On my nails, I don’t think it’s faded in the least (though in the photo, it does look faded). To me, it’s a lovely turquoise or robin’s egg blue. I love it!
I’m wearing it over my trusty Morgan Taylor REACT Base Coat. After applying two coats of Lillian to get full opacity, I sealed it with a coat of Glisten & Glow Top Coat.
Since the weather is awful today, no gardening or raking for me today. So I know this pretty mani will last me at least a couple of days! I love this color. It’s a perfect Easter time shade.
A full size bottle of Lillian is available on the Zoya website for $10. I think the mini bottle that I got was a limited time thing.
10-free and cruelty-free Zoya Professional Nail Lacquer is getting ready for their annual Earth Day polish swap, so you may want to go to the website to check it out. The code is EARTH2020 and is good till the end of April. Because of precautions over Coronavirus, they have changed up the rules a bit and it’s a bit complicated, so you should look into it yourself. I think you have to order at least 6 shades from Zoya, and then at some later date when things are better, you will have to send 6 old bottles of non-Zoya polish from your stash to them to dispose of.
Nature Island Botanicals Spa Bar Sea Berry & Amber
For years, I’ve been singing the praises of Daphne’s handcrafted bar soaps. Finally, bar soap is having a moment with the pandemic for washing hands. Now I am not the only one using bar soap. I use bar soap in addition to shower gel in the shower all the time. I think bar soap cleans better than liquid soaps, and medical professionals seem to agree.
Yesterday, I used up NIB’s Pomegranate & Orange Soap. I looked through my bag full of goodies that I bought from Daphne at the end of the summer, and I saw the gorgeous Spa Bar, a Venetian paper-style swirl of turquoise and blue with a scallop shell on the top. The Sea Berry & Amber scent is divine. The fragrance is clean, fresh, reminiscent of the ocean without the realistic ocean smell that, to be honest, isn’t always that good 😉
The soap lathers beautifully and hydrates so well without being greasy. It’s a joy to use.
Since the early spring craft festivals have been cancelled, I am sure Daphne of Nature Island Botanicals would be delighted to have you place an order with her either through Facebook, phone/text at (954) 646-4005 or Etsy. Her soaps are $10 each, and they are so huge that I divide them in thirds. She usually has many different scent and color options for her soaps that are made from natural and organic ingredients.
Theraderm Clinical Skin Care Eternox Peptide Creme
I just started using a new skincare product regimen from the dermatologist-created brand Therapon, the maker of Theraderm Anti-aging Lip Complex that I wrote about a month or so ago (reviewed here). The regimen consists of Cleanser, Fruit Exfoliator Serum, Vitamin C+ Serum, and Peptide Creme. Theraderm Peptide Creme is a lightweight turquoise gel cream with soluble keratin peptides that is a pleasure to wear.
It is fragrance-free and it is so pretty! I will do a review of the full line in a few weeks.
And to top it all off, I’m wearing my turquoise fleece jacket that I bought years ago at Henri Bendel’s in New York while sitting in my robin’s egg blue office! xoxo
Are you a fan of turquoise, aqua, robin’s egg blue like me?
I absolutely love the premise of this post, and that Zoya polish is GORGEOUS!
That was us yesterday with the rain. It’s very depressing! I haven’t been wearing makeup either. That polish looks lovely on you!

Hoping the temperatures will warm up a little so my Bradford pear trees will bloom this weekend. At least my nails look like spring. Feel better soon, Kathryne, and Happy Easter to you and your husband!
Perfect color for this holiday week. We’re so ready for the softness of spring.
