Ipsy April and May 2018

I lost track of time during the busy months of April and May, and never got a chance to show you my Ipsy bags.

Ipsy April 2018

The bag is plastic with rose gold accents at the corners and pull tab. It’s adorned with butterflies. You probably will think I’m crazy, but I don’t like butterfly designs, so the bag itself is not one of my faves. I do like real butterflies, as long as they don’t land on me. Weird, I know.

Here’s what I got in my April bag:

makeup and skincare items in my April 2018 Ipsy bag, neversaydiebeauty.com

  • Royal & Langnickel Moda Shader Eye Makeup Brush, full size: An attractive long gold handle and super soft synthetic bristles from a good brand of makeup brushes. You know I love getting makeup brushes.
  • Filorga Meso-Mask, Smoothing Radiance Mask: From a French brand I’m not familiar with (sold at Nordstrom), but I will always try a radiance mask.
  • Manna Priming Shadow Stick, shade S’mores, big travel size: A super creamy shadow stick in a mid-range bronze. Very nice. Sorry the photo is a little dark – it’s a gloomy day.

  • pur-lisse Coconut Oil and Coffee Sugar Body Scrub: Sounds divine. I’ll use it today. Hope it doesn’t make the tub greasy.
  • Nail Medica Calcium Infused Nail Polish, shade pale robin’s egg blue called Rise & Slay (full size): Gorgeous spring/summer shade. My nails are splitting in spite of me taking biotin. Maybe it’s all the digging in the garden? I’m looking forward to using this polish.

I like the contents of the April bag. At least two full size products, and a big travel size eye shadow stick. Nice. I’ll use everything in it.

Ipsy “Go There” Bag May 2018

Ipsy makeup bag for May 2018 with "Go There" theme card

I like the cute bag for May much better than the April bag. I like the yellow and orange summery colors, and the travel stamps on the front of the bag as well as the pull tab with a plane on it. Fits well with the “Go There” theme and me still being in vacation mode.

Here’s what I got:

  • First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum: I sure could have used this on our looooooooong plane rides to Amsterdam in April. But I will enjoy trying it now too.
  • Tony Moly Painting Therapy Pack Sebum Control Black Clay: I guess Ipsy didn’t read my profile, because if they did, they wouldn’t have sent me a “sebum control clay mask”. Although I love Tony Moly, this product is not for me and my dry skin. Goes into the giveaway bag.
  • Ven-Effect Micro-exfoliant: I’m not familiar with this brand, so I’ll be glad to try it. I like exfoliant. It’ll go in my beach bag.
  • Touch in Sol Style Sepia Gel Liner Pencil, travel size: Happy to receive a brown/grey shade of eye liner from Touch in Sol, a brand I really like. I got a Touch in Sol travel size foundation that I loved in a previous bag, and I managed to lose it under the sink in the bathroom in our apartment in Amsterdam 😥

  • Adesse New York Organic Infused Nail Lacquer, shade Bellini, full size: I love this pale peachy shade of nail polish. Perfect for right now.

Although I like the makeup bag better for May, the contents were not quite as good as April, but I will use 4 of the 5 products. Only one fail isn’t too bad. I’m most excited about the pretty nail polish and the gel liner sepia toned pencil.

Both bags are valued at more than the $10 I paid. I’m satisfied! As usual, if you want to subscribe to Ipsy, please consider using my referral code. If you already subscribe, what did you get in your Ipsy bags?

  1. I love VENEffect products, and therefore that tips my interest toward the IPSY Go There bag. Plus I like First Aid Beauty and that polish and liner would get plenty of use.

  2. Honestly I don’t miss ipsy at all and judging by the content of both months, I am definitely not missing out on anything special. The bags are cute though.

I always loved the Ipsy bags but wasn’t real crazy about many of the products. They always were not right for me. Birchbox was nice but too many hair products. So right now I am trying a couple of months of Allure. I keep 🤔 thinking I will cancel but each month I love the items I receive.

    1. That’s good to hear that you’re having good luck with Allure, Sandy! I’m still happy enough with Ipsy to keep it. They keep sending me makeup brushes that I love, and a fair amount of makeup so I’ll probably stick with it a while longer.

  4. I am not subbed to ipsy but I have read mixed reviews. Their bags are getting better though

    1. I need to send the butterfly bag to you. I like butterflies in nature, but not as a design motif 😉

  6. My May IPSY is 100% different than yours. Since I love Ven Effect moisturizer I’d have been happy to see that exfoliator in my bag. And a brown eyeliner – not black – is miraculous!

    1. I’m curious about what you got!! I love the shadow brush, the two nail polishes, and the brown eyeliner yay! The eye crayon is good too. I will try that Ven Effect exfoliator soon since you like the brand

      1. I reviewed mine on 5/28 and it’s all being given away.

        1. oh, I’ll go read it. I’ve been offline since Friday. It must not be good if you’re giving it all away 🙁
