Ipsy Bag August 2018 Selfie With No Filter

The summer is sadly flying by, and I just received my August Ipsy bag.

The theme is “Selfie with No Filter”. Not sure I can connect the theme to the goodies inside, but I got some things I love. I would say that Ipsy has been doing a better job this past year or so sending shades that go with my coloring and preferences. Yay for that!

Adesse New York Organic Infused Nail Lacquer, shade Parasol: I was very excited to get this full size organic polish from a brand I already love. The shade, Parasol, is a true coral that is absolutely perfect for me (sorry, I forgot the cleanup as usual). I couldn’t be happier!

theBalm Foiled Again Eyeshadow single, shade Locked Up: I love theBalm, and this is the second month in a row, I think, that I’ve received an eyeshadow from theBalm in my Ipsy bag. I’m not complaining at all. Keep ’em coming! This white-silver foil single from the Foiled Again shadow palette will be perfect for my blue/grey eyes either on the lid or in the inner corner. The swatch below is on bare skin.

purlisse Watermelon Aqua Balm: Sometimes when I hear “balm”, I think of a heavy almost waxy consistency. Thankfully, this travel size lightweight gel from purlisse is anything but! The melon scent is divine. Although this is for normal, combination, oil, or sensitive skin, it’s got enough moisturization for my dry skin during these hot, humid summer days. I’m enjoying this one.

Hey Honey Take Away The Drama Youth Boosting Honey & Copper Peel Off Mask: This travel size mask smells good, and it’s a gorgeous shade of iridescent copper coming out of the tube. I’ve got it on right now!

MAC False Lashes Extreme Black Mascara: Unfortunately, this travel size mascara was one that I got in my last Sephora Play bag before I cancelled. Though I love MAC Upward Lash, this one wasn’t so good for me. Oh well.

Final Thoughts

This was another good Ipsy bag for me. My favorites this month were the perfect nail polish shade and the foil eyeshadow. The moisturizer and mask were fun products that I dug into right away. Only the mascara didn’t suit me, and that’s just my preference. Definitely worth the 10 bucks.

  1. ipsy seems to be upping their game this year and I’ve seen some really good bags. I’m not resubscribing though, I am happy with just BoxyCharm alone.

  2. That polish is beautiful on you! That eyeshadow is so pretty, and it’s definitely a shade that I would wear!

  3. Cindi says:

I loved my Ipsy bag this month too. I got a Pixi blush in Peach Rose, an Oribe Matte Waves hair beach texture lotion, Trust Fund Beauty lip gloss, Thrive Causemetics mascara, and a Ciate Glow-To Illuminator. You got a beautiful polish. I love that color on you.

    1. Whoa, your bag sounds great, Cindi! I need to go to ipsy.com and check out the Pixi blush because it sounds like my kind of shade. I didn’t know that Trust Fund made lip gloss, but I love their polish. I have been very curious about Thrive. You’ll have to let me know how you like the mascara! Thanks for taking the time to comment xo

  4. Perfect polish for you. My bag contained that itty bitty MAC mascara but nothing else that I can remember. I wasn’t happy with mine this month. I guess we take our chances with these.

    1. Marcia, I’ll be curious to hear what you think about the MAC False Lashes Extreme Mascara. When I tried the sample that came in my Sephora Play bag, it just didn’t even coat my lashes. But I fell in love with MAC Upward Lash from one of these teeny mascara samples. I’m trying to decide whether to try this one, or put it in the giveaway bag. Hope your bag is much better next month.

  5. I would have been happy with this bag. I got an Adesse cuticle oil in y BoxyCharm box this month and it’s wonderful!

    1. I’m impressed with Adesse nail polish – I have a few bottles, but I haven’t tried the cuticle oil yet. Glad to hear that it’s a good one, too!

  6. Kathryne says:

I like that nail polish! I also like that eyeshadow. It’s giving me holiday vibe!

    1. The coral polish is really summer-y, but the eyeshadow certainly would be perfect for the holidays! Stay safe, Kathryne!

  7. Ohhh watermelon balm! Is that for face or hands?

    1. Facial moisturizer! The melon scent is divine

  8. I got an Adesse cuticle oil in my Boxycharm this past month and I’m actually interested in trying more from their line. You mention that you already love the brand so do you have any shades you could recommend?

    1. My favorite is the shade I’m wearing in the photo and right now, Parasol. But I’m not sure that you’re a coral girl. I also have a pretty pale aqua cream, but I can’t remember the name. If I can find it, I’ll get back to you!

  9. That nail polish looks amazing on you! Perfect for Fall!

    1. I love it! Wearing Adesse Parasol right now!
