Ipsy Bag September 2018

The September 2018 Ipsy theme is “Who Is Going To Stop Me?”. I guess it means that one can follow her own path. OK.

The bag is black cottony fabric with two closed eyes with long lashes and a gold vegan leather bottom.

It’s cute, but not one of my faves.

Here’s what was inside my bag:

  • treStique mini lip glaze, shade English Rose: I like cruelty-free treStique’s crayon makeup, so I was happy to get this travel size lip crayon. The rosy red shade is right up my alley! There are 5 other shades too. The mini is priced at $10.

  • Winky Lux “Ursula” shadow single from the Mermaid Kitten palette: The outer packaging alone was adorable for this pretty shimmery purple shadow. Though I don’t usually wear this shade, I’m psyched to give it a go! Cruelty-free. $25 for the whole palette of 9 shades

  • Luxie #140 Detail Tapered Blender Brush, full size $12: I love cruelty-free, synthetic, soft, dense Luxie brushes, and I don’t own this pointed shadow brush. Happy to get it!
  • LXMI Creme du Nil Moisture Veil, travel size: I’ve been seeing LXMI everywhere, but I hadn’t tried any of their products. So I was happy to get this moisturizer sample. It’s lightweight, absorbs immediately, fragrance-free, and is very nice.
  • Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer, travel size: I don’t have problem pores, but I could use a travel size primer so I will try it out. I loved the Touch in Sol foundation that I tried and then lost.

The Luxie brush at $12 is worth more than I paid for the bag, so it’s all good. I will use everything in the bag so I am satisfied.

Ipsy now is pushing other deals in addition to discounts on the products featured in this month’s bag. There were three products, each 30% off, from Buxom, Bare Minerals and Eyeko. Also, they are offering a set of 5 pink Luxie kabuki brushes for $20, regular price $54! I am seriously considering picking that up because kabuki brushes are my faves.

I’ve been subscribing to Ipsy for at least 3 years, maybe it’s even 4 years now. I think Ipsy has gotten better over the years. I heard that Ipsy is offering a box or bag with full size products for $25/month to a select group of “influencers” to test market it. I’m not sure how I feel about it. I had been considering subscribing to Boxycharm (I think the price is around $22/month), but I haven’t been intrigued by the products in the most recent Boxycharm boxes that I’ve seen online. And as a beauty blogger, I have so much makeup and skincare already, I don’t know that I want more full size products. If I got a chance to subscribe to the “full size Ipsy”, I might give it a try but if I don’t, I won’t be crying. What do you think about Ipsy with all full size products?

  1. I find this bag so appealing. First of all the makeup bag is darling, but I love the lippie and eyeshadow shades!

The bag is so cute. I think overall it’s a good month considering the items inside

    1. I love getting Luxie brushes, red lipstick and eyeshadow so that alone makes it a good one for me!

  4. My bag is hit/miss but the hits are ones I’m happy with: that same Luxie brush which will come in handy and a sample size of Milk Kush Mascara. I also got 2 strange packets that you dissolve in water and apply on your face, a very small tube of Eliz Mott face Primer, and a sparkly loose shadow. I’ll put the Elizabeth Mott in my travel bag and use the Kush and brush right away.

    1. I got Eliz Mott eye primer in one of my past bags, and I really like it. I recently finished up the UD AA eye primer that you gave me, and I am enjoying the Mott eye primer so I hope you’ll like the face primer. I’ll be curious to hear what you think of the Milk Kush Mascara

      1. I got the mini Kush mascara from Sephora and then went on to buy the full size, I liked it that much. My mini did load waaaay too much product on the brush for the first dozen or so uses though, but it was fine after I’d used some of it up. The full size never gave me that problem.

        1. I don’t have a lot of experience with Milk products except for a few samples in my subbie bags. You must have been impressed to buy the full size. I am going to take a look at the wand. It’s interesting that you had different experiences with the mini and the full size. Lately, I’ve been buying travel size mascaras when I can because I never use up a full size mascara in 3 months.

  5. The lipcolour looks really nice, the brush sounds great, and that eyeshadow is totally my kind of shade- a nice selection you’ve got there!

    1. This was a good bag for me. No complaints at all this month!

  6. The bag is so cute, and the contents look pretty great too! I like that they’ve given a nice assortment of actual makeup.

    1. I’ve been getting a lot more “actual makeup” and also makeup brushes lately, yay!

  7. If I could have gotten the Winky Lux Shadow and the Luxie brush I would have wished that I had signed back up in time for this bag. I never get the good stuff though so you’re lucky!

    1. I’ve been lucky. The past couple of years Ipsy has been doing a good job sending me stuff that suits me
