Ipsy Glam Bag Plus November 2018

Ipsy introduced a full size subscription bag last month. Although I got some nice goodies, I had problems with some of them. I contacted Ipsy Customer Services and received a $10 refund because two of the items were unusable and Ipsy was unable to replace them.

Because the new full size subscription bag launched with a bit of a hiccup IMHO, I was curious to see how the second month would work out. Well, it arrived yesterday.

The Glam Bag Plus doesn’t have a theme the way the regular Glam Bag does, and it doesn’t come with a new makeup bag every month. That’s OK with me. Instead, Plus comes with a brochure that describes each of the full size products, and a new larger makeup bag is delivered every 3 months.

Because I just received the Glam Bag Plus, I haven’t had a chance to use most of the products yet. But let’s see what I got in month #2.

  • First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser: The FAB Face Cleanser has just about reached cult status. It’s a cream cleanser that is gentle and hydrating. It comes in an easy to use plastic tube. I will look forward to using it this winter. $20 for 5 oz.
  • Eye Makeup Brush Trio from SLMissGlam: I got a brush or two from SLMissGlam in previous regular Ipsy bags, and I liked them. This trio, that includes an eyeshadow, angled eyeshadow and blending brush, will be a handy addition to my stash. They have pretty pink tipped soft bristles and pink handles. Cute! $45
  • Makeup Geek Foiled Lip Gloss in shade Set List: I am so happy that lip gloss is making a come back since I cannot really use liquid matte lipstick. Set List is a lovely neutral shade that the brochure describes as being “rosé-inspired”. To me, it’s somewhere between mauve and brown, but in the sun, it does look like a rosé shade. It is opaque, just the way I like my glosses, and it has a shimmer or metallic shine. I am a fan of MUG eye shadow, but I have never tried the lip products. So this was an especially nice surprise. I wore Set List today, and it has a nice formula. It goes on very creamy, but it dries a bit so it isn’t overly sticky. It was not a “hair magnet”, thankfully. It lasted on my lips for about 3 hours before it needed to be reapplied. It had no discernible taste or scent. $12 for 0.27 fl. oz./8 ml

  • IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Volume 1 Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette: I was somewhat surprised to find this full size palette in my Glam Bag Plus, though the palette has been around for several years. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful neutral palette that contains 14 matte shades that are not, thankfully, all browns. Instead, they are in a range of colors including muted sunset shades plus deep smokey eye shades like black, deep brown and navy. There is also a separate pearl that can be used as a highlighter or to transform the mattes into shimmers when you’re in the mood. I bought this palette about 3 years ago, and I think it is beautiful. It’s perfect for women of a certain age because it’s matte and because it contains anti-aging ingredients. I need to take a look at my old palette, and if it is still in good shape, I will have a giveaway with this one. Stay tuned. $42

The total value of the $25 bag is about $161. I will use at least 3 of the 5 products. Although I already own the IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 Matte Palette, I still think it was a lovely addition to the box. If I don’t need it, I will be happy to hold a giveaway with it because it would be a great gift. In sum, I am happy with this month’s Glam Bag Plus, and I am curious to see how Ipsy ups the ante for the December holiday bag!

If you are interested in subscribing to either the regular Glam Bag with travel size products for $10 or the Glam Bag Plus with 5-6 full size products for $25, please consider using my referral code to sign up. Thank you!

I think you got a great bag Allison. I actually just sent an email to ipsy asking how to get on the waiting list. I’ve been eyeing that It palette recently, gorgeous colors. That alone covers the cost. Let’s hope they keep including a great luxe item each month. 🙂

    1. Laura, I hope that you can get on the waiting list. Although the first month was a little rocky, I thought Ipsy’s customer service was very good, crediting me for 2 products and today I received a replacement for the grainy POPSUGAR Tinted Lip Balm. The replacement is so smooth, and the shade is great for everyday. I continue to be happy with Ipsy. The IT Naturally Pretty palette is so lovely, perfect for any occasion for me. Have a good Thanksgiving if I don’t talk to you before next Thursday xo

  2. Oooo! This does seems like a really good bag and filled with full sizes which I love! I wonder how is the pigmentation with the palette? I’ve read mixed reviews about it.

    1. I’d say that the pigmentation is good, but what I like about this palette is that the shades are subtle and appropriate for any occasion. If you’re looking for brights, this isn’t it.

  3. I love that this is full-size products! That eyeshadow palette is simply stunning! I need to get that! That lip gloss is f=gorgeous and it looks absolutely beautiful on you, Allison. I agree with you that it is so nice that lip glosses are making a comeback! I am pretty bored by matte lipsticks, in general, and I just find so few of them comfortable and non-drying!

  4. WOW! Ipsy have upped their game with this bag. I absolutely love, LOVE the first IT Cos Naturally Pretty palette (I also like Romantics, and wish they’d do another one). You can never have too many brushes, and that cleanser is currently in my travel bag, so I’ll probably try it out during Crimbo.

  5. That looks like a good bag for this month!

  6. What a great bag. I love that face cleanser and would love to try that gloss, it’s a gorgeous color on you. The palette I have as well but it’s always nice when you can share the spoils with others, so I’m sure giving it away will be a huge hit!!!

    1. I think you’re right, Judy. One of the reasons I decided to spend the $ to upgrade to the full size Ipsy bag was to get products that I can use for giveaways. I love the IT Naturally Pretty Matte Palette, and I think my readers will be happy to try to win it!

  7. I got the Dr. Brandt eye treatment in a BoxyCharm box and I love it. Personally, I wouldn’t be happy with a palette that is 3-4 yrs old, but that’s just me.

    1. What do you use the Dr. Brandt for??? I was going to put it in my giveaway bag. I don’t have puffy under eyes. I love the IT palette, so if I didn’t already have it, I would be thrilled to get it. I don’t buy all the new palettes that come out so I don’t care that it’s older. I was surprised actually that I happen to have this one, and it’s one of my faves. I think it will make a great giveaway gift coz most of my peeps probably don’t have it.

  8. I have the Dr. Brandt so I’ll probably use it in a giveaway. I need to check to see if I own the IT palette. All in all A very nice box that’s worth the upgrade in price.

  9. I love the bottom row of shades in the palette! So pretty and my fave – neutrals!

  10. This looks like a great bag! I cancelled my ipsy bag because I never use travel size products, so this might be perfect for me.

    1. I have so much makeup and skincare, I thought I should stick with the travel size bag, but now that I’ve got the full size, I am very pleased with it! Worth considering!

  11. My Nail Polish Obsession says:

The shadow palette looks really nice!

  12. 25 Sweetpeas says:

    Those brushes looks really nice!

  13. Ehmkay Nails says:

Wow this is a such a great deal! Thanks for sharing this!

  14. I’ve been so interested to see what the Ipsy Plus products were like. I was hesitant about joining because I know my regular Ipsy bag doesn’t always have products I like. I shied away from spending the $25 and possibly getting things I didn’t like. These look like great products, though. I also have the It Cosmetics palette and I’m shocked it was one of the items! Definitely a great value.

    1. I had some issues with a couple of the products in the first month of the Ipsy Glam Bag Plus, but I’ve been very pleased with this month’s items!

  15. I am also definitely more of a lipgloss than matte lipstick person. I find matte products too drying and uncomfortable most of the time.

  16. That it cosmetics palette is gorgeous!
