Ipsy Glamazon Bag September 2016

My August ipsy bag just showed up a couple of weeks ago, but I got my new September bag yesterday. Unfortunately, it was missing the Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick from Bare Minerals that I redeemed my points for at the end of July. Boo hoo. I really wanted that lipstick!! After contacting ipsy to let them know about their error, they told me there was nothing they could do because there were no more left to send. Instead, they refunded my 500 points and threw in 125 extra points. Big deal.

So my disappointment aside, here’s this month’s bag. The theme of the September bag is Glamazon. The bag itself with a retro 60s design of women in gold and yellow on a black background is visually interesting.

Unfortunately, the plastic bag has a horribly strong, bad chemical smell. I’ll leave it outside for a couple of days and see if that helps. Otherwise, I’ll have to toss it because it SMELLS BAD  😥

But the contents of the bag are quite good IMHO. Here’s what I got:

contents of the ipsy Glamazon bag September 2016 neversaydiebeauty.com

  • Avene Hydrance Hydrating Serum, deluxe sample: I’ve been interested in trying more products from Avene Skincare so I was happy to get this little tube of serum. Very lightweight cloudy serum that sinks in quickly. So far so good.
  • Clark’s Botanicals Age-Defying Radiance Cream, deluxe sample: I’ve never heard of this brand, but I like the looks of this pretty, slightly floral radiance cream. The midweight cream gives a nice glow. I think it would look nice on shoulders or chest as well as on the face. I think it’ll be fun to use. I was amazed to discover that a full size jar of this is priced around $100!
  • Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint, travel size: I’ve heard about this new mascara from Tarte and I’ve been curious about it. Haven’t had a chance to try it yet so I’ll get back to you on this. Glad to get to try it.
  • Pixi by Petra MatteLustre Lipstick, Rose Eternelle, travel size: This little lipstick is adorable! Plus Rose Eternelle is a fabulous browned-rose that’s perfect for fall. I’m excited about this one!
  • Trestique Mini Highlight Stick in Maldives Luminescent: I’ve gotten Trestique sticks in ipsy bags two or three times now, and I like them well enough. This stick looks like a lovely champagne-colored highlighter. I will definitely use it.

My Glamazon bag contained 3 makeup products so I can’t complain about that. Also, ipsy seems to be including more higher value, more prestigious brands than it once did. I don’t know the exact value of the bag (I’m tired of calculating the value of deluxe samples, lol), but I know it’s worth well over the $10 I paid for it.

Well done, ipsy! Now please do something more meaningful to make up for your screwup on my missing BareMinerals lipstick!

  1. I received the Clark’s Botanical cream in one of my bags too and like you I was shocked when I found out the full size was so expensive! LOL! I traded it away though because I have enough skincare. You got a really good bag, Allison and I look forward to your review on the Tarte mascara.

    1. Ha, $100 for a jar of radiance cream was quite the surprise! I admire your trading skills, Shireen. Curious about what type of items you trade for! I may give the Tarte mascara a try today.

      1. I trade for lip products, blushers, bronzers and highlighters. Haha! I got to stop though, I am seriously overwhelmed by my stuff now and actually threw away most of my foundations with the exception of a couple. How do you control your stash, Allison? I have no friends who is beauty obsessed like me so I can’t give anyone my stuff so most ended up in the trash.

        1. I hear ya, girl. It is a problem. My stash is overflowing, overwhelming too. I give some things – foundations, lipsticks, eyeliners – to the woman who helps me clean my house. She uses some of them, gives some to her young daughters to experiment with, and brings other things to the women in her church. I give other products to my cousin’s girlfriend and my other cousin’s wife and occasionally to one of my neighbors. I used to give away things from my subbie boxes put in a nice makeup bag in a giveaway to my subscribers, but I regret to say I haven’t done that since last fall. I need to go through my stuff and do that again while the products are still fresh. I have also been meaning to put together a big bag to bring to a woman’s shelter. But lately, other than giving a few things away, I am just overwhelmed with cosmetics!!

  2. Now that’s a great Ipsy bag! I would have been more than happy with the bag alone, ha! Plus, I feel like you got some awesome products. I have that mascara, but haven’t tried it yet! Also, I LOVE Avene Skincare products. I use their SPF daily!

    1. The only other Avene I’ve tried is their spray water so I am happy to have the chance to try the serum. The retro design of the makeup bag is so different from the zillion others I’ve gotten from them – more sophisticated, perfect for fall!

  3. That is so disappointing about the reward product you chose. Good to see they sent out three makeup products this month. I’m getting a sample of that Clark’s cream shortly and hope it is good enough to justify the price!

    1. The cream is very nice especially for me and my dry skin. But I’m not exactly sure when/how to wear it. It’s better on the chest or shoulders to give a glow or to wear without makeup. Foundation kind of covers it up. But I’ll try it again.

  4. What a cool looking makeup bag! I think this is one of the best pouches Ipsy has sent out so far.

    1. I also love the design on the bag, but the plastic smells HORRIBLE! I’m hoping the smell will go away or it’s going to be thrown out!

  5. It sucks that you’re missing the lipstick but that highlighter is lovely.

    1. The highlighter is a great shade for pale or light-skinner gals. Yeah, I’m sad about the lippie. They refunded my points and gave me some extra points and they’re sending me a “bonus” gift – better not be another black eyeliner pencil 😉

  6. What a bummer about the lipstick! Honestly, I did away with Ipsy long ago, they just never impressed me much.

    1. I still like the bags and I’ve been happy with just about every bag I’ve gotten for the last almost 2 years. But they don’t always do a good job with delivering anything out of the ordinary. Last month, I bought with points the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Primer that I was thrilled to get for free but it delayed my bag by almost 2 weeks. This time, the bag came early but without my BareMineral liquid lipstick! Oh well, they’re going to send me a “bonus” gift and they gave me back my points with some extra points as well. I’m curious to see what they send – it better not be another black eyeliner pencil 😉

  7. I love that Pixi lipstick. I’d be happy with this bag, especially the tarte mascara.

    1. 3 makeups in one bag was quite amazing for ipsy! The lipstick is so pretty!

  8. What a total bummer that you didn’t get your much-anticipated lipstick, but at least they took care of you. I really like what you received in this bag!

    1. Yes, I can’t complain too much 😉

  9. My IPSY bag is 100% different and it’s terrific. Full size Trust Fund nail polish in a gorgeous gold, mini Superhero mascara, Living Proof Styling Treatment, Eye Masks from ToGoSpa (another full size item. The only item I can’t use is a beautiful Seraphine cream blush since it’s too fragranced. I am thrilled with this particular bag.

    1. Wow, you did get a great bag, Marcia! I’m going to have to go on ipsy.com and look at the items and the brand deals. I have two full size SuperHero mascaras (one has been open over 3 months so I should chuck it), but having a travel size would be so handy. It’s a terrific mascara.

  10. Nice items in the bag–so sorry about the smell. I got a few Ipsy bags like that too.

    1. Fortunately, since it’s been out of the raspberry shipping bag for about 24 hours, the horrible plastic chemical smell is receding. I hope it goes away because the retro ’60s design is very nice!

  11. Well except for the bag that has Chemical sent, I think you received some nice products

    1. Thankfully the chemical scent is going away coz I love the design on the bag. It was another good month from ipsy.

    1. I’ve been doing quite well with ipsy lately. I love the lipstick, the highlighter and the mascara especially and the pricey radiance cream could turn out to be a find 🙂

  14. That Rose lipstick from Pixi is quite pretty, I like it. I think that the bag itself is super chic and overall this isn’t a bad one, quite nice actually.

    1. I love what I got in this month’s ipsy. 3 makeups is a first from them, I think!

  15. The Pixi lippie looks really good
