Ipsy Plus “Clean Slate” for January 2020

I just received my Ipsy Plus box for February, so I better get on the stick and tell you about my January box. Called Clean Slate, it emphasizes new beginnings. To that end, the Clean Slate box has 3 skincare products out of the 5 full size products. That makes sense to me. And since you know what a skincare junkie I am, I’m happy with that.

The makeup bag itself is cute: a mix of faux white marble and pale rose gold shimmer on the front and all faux marble on the back. The bag has a loop handle and is a nice size to carry as a purse.

Here’s what was in my Clean Slate Ipsy Plus box for January:

beauty products in Ipsy Plus "Clean Slate" glam bag for January 2020

  • Purlisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Adore Serum: The brand Purlisse was started by a former actress who used the skincare secrets of her Asian grandmother to create a line of skincare products that would replace the heavy makeup and skincare products that she used during her acting career. The products are created by skincare scientists from Korea, France and the U.S. Purlisse products are nourishing but relatively lightweight. I really like Purlisse skincare products, so I was happy to get this eye serum. The Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Eye Serum contains French sea plants, soy proteins and vitamin E to address fine lines, crow’s feet, dark circles, and puffiness. Because of my eye surgeries, I haven’t opened this one yet, but I’m looking forward to trying it out. $58
  • Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum: I think I have tried a couple of travel size skincare products from a clean beauty brand Juice Beauty in my original Ipsy bag or my Sephora Play bag. So I was very pleased to see this full size pump bottle of Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum. I have just started using this natural, rich gel-cream serum. It contains a vitamin-rich juice base, aloe vera and brightening apple that were organically grown on Juice Beauty’s vineyard. How cool is that? $80
  • AHAVA Essential Day Moisturizer for Normal to Dry Skin: I have used AHAVA Hand Cream and Body Cream in the past, and I liked their rich formulas based on mineral from the Dead Sea, but I had never tried any of the facial skincare products. Although I am not sure why they call this Essential Day Moisturizer because it doesn’t have any sunscreen in it, unless the cocktail of 21 Dead Sea minerals act as a physical sunscreen. In addition to the minerals, it has Pro-vitamin B5, amino acids and vitamin E  as well as aloe vera for hydration, a strong skin barrier and protection from environmental stressors. After using it for a few weeks, its rich gel-cream formula is very hydrating for my winter dry skin. And though on their website, this moisturizer comes in a jar in a smaller size, I love the larger size plastic tube created specially for Ipsy. $67

my lips wearing Nature's Cartel Lip Stick in the brown-mauve neutral shade called 90s Nostalgia

  • Nature’s Cartel Lip Stick: Nature’s Cartel is a new-to-me brand. Have you heard of it? The shade is called 90’s Nostalgia, and I get why. It’s a neutral brown-mauve MLBB shade. Though I myself like a brighter, more colorful shade, the color suits me, and I think it’s perfect for everyday wear. It’s a creamy, non-drying formula. Also it’s vegan and cruelty-free. $15

Wander Wanderess Rush Eye Palette and Nature's Cartel Lip Stick in 90s Nostalgia, both open to show the shades

  • Wander Wanderess RUSH Eye Palette: One of my favorite eye palettes from 2019 is cruelty-free Wander Wanderess Eye Palette  Seascape. It has beautiful sea-inspired shades that I wore a lot all summer. So I was very happy to receive Wander Wanderess RUSH eye palette. The shades in this palette are more fall/winter shades. The palette includes 2 glitters, 2 shimmers and 2 mattes. The shades are neutral-is with a rose glitter and bronze glitter along with 4 true neutrals. $25

my January 2020 Ipsy Plus box "Clean Slate" open to show the beauty products in their outer packaging

The value of the January Ipsy Plus box that I paid $25 for is $245. I am or will be using all of the products in the January bag. I didn’t purchase any add-on products along with the bag. But I still believe that being able to buy beauty products at deep discount is a definite plus of my Ipsy subscription.

As always, if you don’t subscribe to Ipsy Plus – I think the best and certainly fastest way to build your stash of beauty products – and want to subscribe, I’d be delighted if you would use my referral code.
