Seldom does this happen. But after receiving an email with an announcement ad for the Limited Edition IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Must-Have Eye Set, I immediately had to move on this. Usually I ruminate for ages, but not this time.
The original Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 Matte Luxe Transforming Palette (IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 Matte Palette reviewed here) continues to be one of my all-time favorite shadow palettes, so the Must-Have Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette looked like a travel size version of the original but with, according to IT Cosmetics, new and unique shades. In addition, there is a travel size version of Hello Lashes 5-in-1 Volumizing Mascara. Both for an affordable $28. But now that I’ve got my set, IT Cosmetics has a 20% off Friends and Family Sale going on. Now why didn’t I wait, lol!
The palette is visually lovely, a baby version of the Naturally Pretty Matte Palette but in pale pink glossy paper instead of suede (and that’s fine with me). Inside is rose gold shiny paper, and there’s a good size mirror, like in my big Matte Luxe palette.
In addition to the Transforming Hello Light pearl powder that gives a glow to any shade it’s mixed with, there are 6 new, neutral matte shades:
- Happy: off white
- Believe: taupe
- Naturally Pretty: mauve
- Inspire: marsala
- Brave: raisin
- Empower: eggplant
plus Transforming Hello Light that gives a light pearl sheen. There are two white/beige shades and the others are a variety of browned-rosy-purples.
The Must-Haves shadows should be applied over primer. Without primer, only the deepest shades showed up well on my light skin, IMHO.
With primer, they have real presence and good pigmentation. Because I never skip eye primer, it isn’t a problem for me. Nevertheless, the lightest shade – Happy – ais so close to my skin tone that it doesn’t show up very well on me, but it does serve to brighten the inner corner or under the brow bone. Here’s a closer view of the light shades:
Thankfully, the shadows build-up fairly easily over primer, though Happy still doesn’t show up on me. You can just barely see the pale pearliness of the pearl powder at the very top, but that shadow isn’t supposed to have a color, just a sheen.
The shadows don’t kick up a lot of powder, they blend well, they are long-lasting over primer. I’m enjoying this palette. 🙂
I decided to go for broke and use the deeper shades on this eye look. I used Inspire on the lid, Brave in the crease, and Empower in the outer V.
I think it’s a great travel or on-the-go shadow palette, and the deluxe sample size of Hello Lashes is the right size to keep in a purse makeup bag. I’ve mentioned the mascara previously, and in addition to a great formula, it has a cool wand with a bulb at the tip for easy application to the tiniest lashes. This set makes a wonderful gift for neutral matte shadow lovers or a terrific introduction to IT Cosmetics. I love the shades in this (and the mini size is too cute) but I just didn’t love their shadows in the full size palette. I just need a bit more pigment and I found they blend into nothing too easily.

I can understand that, Bailey. Basically, IT does neutrals, even their colors are neutrals and they are subtle. I’m not thrilled that one or two of the 6 shades don’t show up on me, but for the price, I’m OK with it. For me, at this stage of life, I am more comfortable wearing my subtle shades even though I wish I could wear the colors in your new Kat von D palette!
I have just fallen completely in love with the entire brand of it Cosmetics this year. Everything I’ve tried lately has worked so nicely with my skin. I think this would make for an excellent gift for the Holiday’s! Also, the eyeshadow works so nicely with your skin tone and eyes! Gorgeous!

Although I wish that Happy had more presence being one of only 6 shades, I enjoy having another matte palette especially one in wine shades for autumn. I think it would be a good gift for matte neutral lovers!
That is so cool! I think more companies should make miniature travel versions of their best palettes (I’M LOOKIN’ AT YOU, URBAN DECAY). I think it’s an awesome idea. I know I’ve been wanting to try both of those products, and now they’ve made it a lot easier! I hope this is something they continue to do, even after the holidays.

Yes, they should. And definitely, UD should come out with travel palettes for the holidays! Or something like Naked Basics but in a bigger variety of shades.
It Cosmetics is one of my favorite brands – I love their mascara and CC Cream. These shadows look really pretty but I think I’d probably want more saturated colors, so I think I’ll stick to their other products. Thanks for the review!

I can definitely understand that, Lisa! Since I’m older, most of the time I try to stick to subtler shades and finishes. Wish I could wear the super-pigmented brights, but I do like a bright eyeliner on me from time to time.
I love matte eyeshadows !! This is a nice little palette with an okey pigmentation. I prefer Zoeva matte eyeshadows though. Pigmentation is insane and palettes really cheap 🙂 x

Because I’m older I’m usually satisfied with subtle, neutral shades most of the time. But it does bug me that one of 6 shades doesn’t show up on my skin at all! But for the price and the fact that the shadows are loaded with anti-aging ingredients, I’m good with it. I don’t think we have Zoeva here, but I’ll look it up just to see. My favorite is still Viseart Neutral Matte Palette, professional makeup that costs a fortune, but it doesn’t have these plummy shades in it.
What a nice little palette, especially for a holiday gift. I do love the It Cosmetics mascaras, so that’s a great bonus. Thanks for the swatches!! I also always use a primer, so I think the colors would show up fine on me.

I think it’s a pretty autumn palette. Four of the shades are various shades of wine, IMHO. I’ve worn it 3 times since it arrived on Friday so I guess I’m pleased with it!

I think, Laura, that this is an age-dependent palette. At this stage of the game, these are definitely pigmented enough for me except for Happy, the first shade that’s the same color as my skin. I’m wearing shades 3 & 4 tonight, and I think the women I went out with to a meeting with thought I was wearing too much makeup!

For some reason, this little palette looks cute! I had the first natural pretty palette and tossed because the shadows were so muted and dull (in my opinion). This palette looks like a bit more wearable with the deeper shades 🙂

I don’t know, Monica, if you’d like it or not. I love the first Naturally Pretty palette. With my light skin and blue eyes the colors do show up and they’re appropriate for me at this stage of life. This mini-palette is very cute. Unfortunately, the lightest shade, Happy, doesn’t really show up at all because it’s the color of my skin. The taupe shade is an interesting everyday shade. But shades 3-6 show up very well on me. They are variations on wine shades. In fact, I wore shades 3 & 4 tonight when I went out, and I’m sure the women I was with thought I was over-madeup because those colors definitely show up on me. It’s sold at Ulta where you can see it, and right now, there’s a 20% off Friends & Family on IT Cosmetics so you may decide that at $24 it’s worth a gamble!
It’s eyeshadow formula is one of my favorites, it’s so soft and blendable.

I’m a fan of mattes so this mini-palette was good for me. And occasionally I’ll use the pearl powder for a shimmer. But yes, you’ve gotta love mattes.

LOL, Nidia! I only have the first IT Naturally Pretty Matte palette so this was new for me. The Must-Have mini palette is really a good palette for wine-shade lovers. Other than the first two light shades, pans 3-6 are really rose, marsala, pinot noir, and cabernet!
