It’s been eons since I used anything from Too Faced. After the founder sold the company and TF started coming out with a new scented eye palette almost every month, I lost interest. Also, the brand became really too juvenile for even this heart lover.
But in my last Ipsy/Boxycharm box, I discovered a lipstick that I hadn’t realized I had ordered. And I love it!
The lipstick tube is heart-shaped. And the bullet inside is two-tone. There’s a small pink heart in the middle of the bullet surrounded by what I thought was a mauve or raspberry shade, depending on the light. I could hardly wait to try it.
Frankly, I had no idea what the brand of the lipstick was. At first, the gold initials on the top of the lipstick tube looked like “FF”. Fashion Fair, I wondered?
Next, I launched the magnifying app on my iPhone, and I was surprised to read that the lipstick is from Too Faced. The initials on the top were TF. I should have known. Duh, Too Faced, like me, has a thing for all things heart-shaped.
Regardless of the brand, I was very eager to try the lipstick. I wondered what effect would the two shades have on the final lip look?
The aptly named, Too Faced Too Femme Heart Core Lipstick, applied very smoothly. The lipstick glided onto my lips. It felt more like a moisturizing balm than a regular lipstick. It feels weightless on my lips.
The color was buildably opaque, though it started off translucent like many balms are. The shade, Too Femme 02, was a cool-toned orchid pink that Too Faced describes as Medium Pinky Nude (it’s more of an orchid than nude anything IMHO). At any rate, it’s very pretty! Plus it goes well with the shirt I’m wearing 😉
Balm-like Too Femme Heart Core Lipstick also has a glossy finish.
What actually surprised me what the way the color lasts on my lips. Too Faced Too Femme Heart Core Lipstick fades on my lips over about 5 hours, but it never goes away. It functions more like a (hydrating) lip stain, making me look like I’m still wearing lipstick. Yet, it’s not drying even on my lips that have a tendency toward being dry.
Too Faced Too Femme Heart Core Lipstick comes in 6 shades. The size is 0.09 oz./2.8 g, and its MSRP is $26 on the Too Faced website and at Ulta. I love everything about this lipstick from the shade to the heart shape! This shade looks gorgeous on you, Allison! I only have one of their palettes, and I think that I have some lip or something else, but I haven’t used them in forever, and all of their scented eye shadow palettes don’t appeal to me. This is stunning though, and I would definitely wear it, and enjoy using it!
